I remember seeing this a year or two back... it was a videographer that had a bad habit of once he was under canopy he would flip backwards in the harness and hook his foot in the lines to shoot some cool video. In this one particular video, he somehow hooked his foot wrong and induced a nasy low speed spinning mal. Even after cutting away (which didnt do much good since his foot was in the lines he continued to spin, and at one point you see his reserve go flying across his body semi-inflated, unable to catch much air. He eventually gets rid of it and lands OK. As I think about it, the defining characteristic of the video is the "shit" and "fuck" counters in the corner of the screen that tally off how many times he says them. anyone remember where a copy of that video is? She passed the day I left the country with no email access. I just returned home today to find this out. I'll miss ya "mom". Sure with the little one* I dont have the disposable funds I used to, but the boss makes sure I get at least 2 or 3 cessna jumps a month from a DZ that is closer to me than my true home DZ (gas and time are a real killer these days). I wouldnt miss the boogie for the world. been saving up for it actually so I could afford more than 2 jumps and a single day. If you havent been to the boogie, I cant recommend it enough. Great jumps, and even better parties after dark. (my liver recovered, but not until after I mailed it out for repair) and if you always wanted to jump a round, these guys will take great care of you. sorry for the double post, but this struck a nerve with me. Might be time to find a new DZ (if possible). IMHO, the "right" DZ is 75% vibe. I have been to quite a few DZs (nowhere near the numbers alot of you have) and found there is a huge swing in chemistry. I found DZs that I personally would LOVE to jump at if they were closer, and others I wish were farther away they are so bad. You need to jump where you feel welcome and have more than freinds and people willing to tolerate jumping with you; you need to find a second family. But I'd at least try to feel out your current DZ. They very possibly could be more receptive than you think. Of course you are always welcome to discuss here, I have found this to be a great support system. Nowhere near the "Wreck". Pardon me if this is too soon and too inflammatory, but what if you feel the administration contributed to the outcome by lobbying against legislation that would effectively allow licensed gun owners to carry on campus? Bear in mind this was no "any yahoo can carry" situation. it would require specific training and permitting to do so. I feel for the students at VT. I just feel that this "big brother will take care of me" liberal mentality is backfiring. We need to teach our students to be more agressive, and stand up for themselves as individuals. This "cower under a desk and wait to be rescued by the government" attitude is part of the problem. The guys on flight 93 had it right. Did they survive? Sadly, no. Did they seem to prevent a larger catastrophy by preventing the plane from hitting its target? It appears so. I call that a success (although a sad one). just make sure it is digital ready. doesnt have to be HD, just SD digital. that way if they ever get off thier asses and terminate the current analog TV signals we currently use, you wont have a paperweight (or a box that needs another gizmo to use the DTV signals) ( I havent seen a non digital TV in the past 6 mos, even at wally world.) She's a beauty! I'd love to get another Boxer but I think one is enough for now. But the one I have is pretty mellow. Actually, he's REALLY mellow. And they're not as dumb as people think they are. Yeah, thanks. She's our "special" child. not too bright, but incredibly intelligent. We rescued her from a shelter after her first owners apparently didnt realize how stupid and hyper a boxer is. She got to 40lbs and they had enough. She is now 73lbs and after several months of training (and years of follow-up) she is great. Thats actually her "oh crap, I'm busted" after she pulled the floss off the counter and chewed it up. She LOVES peppermint. She wont take the meat flavored doggie toothpaste, but will follow you anywhere for either people toothpaste or mint doggie toothpaste. and for those non-boxer owners... we arent nuts.
