  1. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1287828/Revealed-Why-President-Obama-loathes-British.html?ITO=socialnet-twitter-mailonline It's gossip, and I have no way to vet this one way or the other. It's a long read, and an interesting question... So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  2. Wow.....just WOW.....an American conservative talking like a communist. Insinuating that the state is responsible to uphold the value of a company because it impacts the populace. Oh please. I insinuated no such thing. I stated clearly that the rhetoric and action of the Administration was artificially pushing BP share values down. In fact, you can see their stock chart and time the dips to the President's remarks. Up until the first remarks, the sell-off/value was in an orderly readjustment. BP was still going to pay its dividend while owning up to their full responsibility to the Gulf. Enter the community organizer - BP announces a freeze on their dividend payments for the balance of the year. Sell off. More rhetoric from the White House, another dip. The Oval Office address, down again. Fully half of the devaluation since the explosion started on May 25-28 time-frame to now. That was not a market correction, that was direction action as a result of shady pressure from Chicago politics in action. Markets love certainty. stock is up now that an amount has been established. BP's legal liability is capped at $75 million. I wonder what they were promised or told to blow that far past that amount. Ooooh...a whole $0.05 cents! And no dividend! Pension plans and mutual funds are going to kill the stock as they sell off to meet their commitment to the investors/pensioners. The restitution fund is $5B/year for the next four years. Certainly, BP will pay more than that. However, now that they have committed what is a full 20% of their current market cap (basically eliminating their ROE). I've exonerated BP of nothing, but this administration is not leading squat. The first response was to send in the lawyers, reject help citing the Jones Act (which could have been waived in seconds and was waived by President Bush following Katrina) and now we have a fund that I guarantee you will get f**ked by the lawyers on the back-side in one way or another. There should be one priority while the relief wells are being drilled: contain the spill/gush with any and all means available. Once that's done, create a team to do an after action report, reign in the affected parties for relief/recovery, and have the Justice Dept assess criminal/civil action.
  3. While we don't know how the discussions off camera have been, the rhetoric out of President Obama since he decided to get involved a couple weeks ago has done nothing to help. BPs value has shrunk by 50%. 1 in 7 investing Americans and 1 in 6 investing British have a connection to BP. Pension plans that require their holdings to offer a dividend may have to offload BP further. Meanwhile, the children in the administration are demanding billions that BP no longer has because their market cap is half of what it used to be, and on the coattails of what BP has already publicly stated it would do time and again in addition to full mitigation of the affected area. These people have no f**k**g clue. You can't get any restitution out of a company if you drive it out of business. You partner up with them up front, contain, and inspire investor confidence and save the money talk for behind the scenes to be released via select press release and/or press conference later. Since our Republican leadership is too much of a pansy to see that fact (given the reaction by Rep. Boehner and Cantor), I will apologize to BP, and all of Britain for that matter for the treatment that our President has given your company, and in fact, all of you by proxy since BP is such a significant part of your economy. I am sorry that our leadership fails to recognize the repeated statements by BPs leadership committing to clean up and restitution to all the affected businesses and communities along the Gulf. Despite that apology, let it in no way allow you to think that the eyes of the world are upon you and that you must perform in your duty to contain, cap, and clean-up this mess. Edit to add: I would also like to apologize on behalf of my fellow Americans who are boycotting BP gas stations thinking that it hurts BP, when all it is hurting are small business, and local franchise owners, and BP can sell its refined products through other channels and not be affected by such uneducated action. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  4. Motorola has two new Droid devices coming out for VZW, the Droid X and the Droid 2. The Droid 2 has a QWERTY keyboard. They're both expected to be out sometime in July. I don't know who your carrier is, but if you're with Sprint, the flagship Android device is the EVO. Currently for VZW, it's the Incredible (but it's seriously backordered, online orders don't ship until 7/12). For AT&T, it's the Motorola Backflip. T-Mobile, it's the MyTouch Slide, or Garminfone. ALLTEL, the HTC Hero. NOTE: There have been quite a few reports of some build quality issues with the EVO and Incredible. Also, there has been quite a bit of discussion about the usability of the Incredible's touch screen if not "grounded" (used holding two hands, versus one hand while the device is on a table). Don't even bother with a WinMo device. Windows Phone 7 will be out later this year. While looking at the Android devices, take a look at the Palm Pre/Pixi and their WebOS, a very capable system and now that HP is buying Palm, they aren't at risk of dying anymore. Don't over look Blackberry either. If you get a BB, we can link you up with the BBM DZ.com gang...tons of fun I tell you! If you want a touch screen, all of the above mentioned have something to offer, all are very capable. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  5. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/spain-the-new-crisis-in-euroland-2002676.html I'm actually surprised these headlines didn't start showing up sooner, but perhaps this may evolve in a more orderly fashion. I suspect that Spain, while in a serious situation, doesn't have as many of the structural problems that were plaguing Greece. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!

    Change...

This doesn't bother me so much. If it's not a formal arrival, or a return from an official visit without a VIPs on the greeting ramp, then meh... Personally, when I become President one day, I'll be wearing shorts too, because wearing pants with a prosthetic leg sucks...so, may as well throw in the T-shirt too... So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  7. His rhetoric? Not the fact that they caused one of the worst environmental disasters ever, all of their efforts to staunch it have so far failed, they're months away from a long term solution, they're faced with a multi-billion dollar cleanup effort on a scale that no-one yet knows, in part because they've been lying about the size of the leak since day one? Their share price hasn't suffered because of that, but because Obama's been putting the boot in? What has he been saying that you can show to be false? Is all of what he is saying true?? I don't know. What has he said that's false? One of the biggest falsehoods, "We are running out of places to drill." That alone polished the golden shovel to a bright sheen. Of course, the one line that everyone is overlooking is, "Now is the moment for this generation to embark on a national mission to unleash America's innovation and seize control of our own destiny." The community organizer is back in full swing. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  8. Don't need an app, just a WAP site...don't know if I'd pay or not. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  9. Oh HOLY FUCK we've cracked the code! He's only shows his anti-American tendencies when he speaks exclusively to "the media." He can get away with it too because we all know every member of "the media" is a damn left-wing liberal socialist communist bastard. All the other times he's putting on a front! You just watch how tricky this guy is . . . he'll probably have a flag there just to try to fool us! Well, it's not... It's an Address to the Nation from the Oval Office...where some expect he might begin a new push to "let no crisis go to waste", a new carbon tax...we'll see what else comes to light. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  10. It's not a press conference. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  11. This is the same horseshit reason GWB gave for not visiting the area but for a quicky fly-over after Katrina. The 2 disasters are quite different, here, Obama can only do administrative duties in making BP pay and for BP for stop the leak as quickly as possible. Whereas Katrina was know about days or weeks in advance and GWB could have had the guard there standing to aid people. The 2 disasters and COMPLETELY different in regard to rescue/relief, Obama's presence hinders exactly zero and shows he's personally surveying the situation, now he has to firce your beloved oil companies off their 75M damage cap, it'll be fun to watch you spin that one considering the RW is kinda stuck here in that they hate Obama, but also hate anything that damages big corporation. Just when I think you can't top yourself.... First, I made no comparison to Katrina, you did. Since you brought it up: The White House did contact the City of New Orleans, and the Governor's office prior to Katrina - at least three days prior. The reply was, "No thank you. We got this." Should then President Bush have told FEMA to be at the ready anyway? Yes. Still the response with far and wide way faster than any harness of resources here. Second, the National Guard is not the President's to activate unless for combat operations. The Chief Executive of a state's National Guard is the Governor (and we all know how well she did). Third, the President can certainly administer BP financial assistance from DC through his SecDHS and SecInterior, like an executive would do....oh wait....President Obama has not shown himself to be an executive. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  12. What concerns me more about his continued visits down there is the actual impediment to progress it creates. When the President makes his trips, the advance team has to go through, check the whole route, plan, schedule and sh*t stops in some cases for up to 24 hours. Then, once the resources are on the ground, everything is displaced for sake of the motorcade/Marine-1. These are all valid measures to be taken for the Commander-in-Chief, but at some point, repeated visits, which, at this point, do not offer any operational benefit, become an impeding factor. In short: they get in the way. President Obama's style is quite involved once he gets his momentum, but his presence at this point is stopping work from being done. Use the SecInterior and SecDHS along with the Coast Guard commander to direct the action/plan (assuming there was one). So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  13. Cool stuff! Looks like they've really put forth a solid organizing effort into it. So, do on-line purchased raffle tickets reduce the number of chances people get to buy at manifest? Or just dilute the pool? Either way, good stuff. Post pics of the final formation when it's all done! So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  14. Funny how it wasn't Israel alone that imposed the blockade...Egypt was a partner in the blockade as well when it was initiated back in 2007. Skiing - Alta and Snowbird are less than an hour away. Skydiving - Ogden is less than an hour away. Don't know about BASE, but I'm certain, with all the mountains nearby, and wide-open spaces once outside the city, there is no shortage of stuff to jump from. As a young single professional of sorts, you could do worse than Salt Lake City. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  16. Ya I watched it a little earlier this am and the only thing I thought was the kids should have given thier names right away. And what is with the blurring of the face? May be more coming but as of right now the Senator it looks as though the Senator should take trip down town But I will wait a couple more days as I bet something is yet to come out I was thinking the same thing. Why not just say, "I'm John Doe, and we're working on a college project." Instead of the the, "Do you always support the Obama agenda?"...verbal yank... Would've been a non-issue I bet then. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!

  19. The Constitution is not this country's only founding document. In the Declaration of Independence, it states, "...to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them..." It then further states, "...that they are endowed by their Creator with..." Meanwhile, in numerous State Constitutions, God is referenced prominently in the preambles: CA: "...grateful to Almighty God for our freedom..." SC: "...grateful to God for our liberties..." CT: "...the good providence of God..." ME: "...imploring God's aid..." IL: "...grateful to Almighty God for the civil..." MT: "...grateful to God..." WA: "...grateful to the Supreme Ruler of the Universe..."
  20. I'm sure you think it's still only going to cost $900B or so too...even though it's already been revised higher, and the real costs are at least 2x higher... Plans renew every year. Of course they're going to change. For that same tidy sum, coverage will drop so the insurers can pay out the nose for some person that just picked up coverage on the heels of being diagnosed with some horrific illness. Even if he/she goes on Medicaid...it doesn't matter. It's still going to be paid by...y-o-u. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  21. http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-iran-sanctions-20100611,0,5936318.story First, our relations with Europe, Russia and China are already damaged - nothing a few more DVDs, Reset Buttons, and bows to Japanese Emperors can't further do... Second, if we hadn't allowed the UN sanctions to be so diluted, such US policy wouldn't be as big a factor. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  22. Interesting chart of extremes...shows the highest and the lowest...it also references the BP rig and how deep it was drilling too. http://www.ouramazingplanet.com/infographic-tallest-mountain-to-deepest-ocean-trench-0249/ Good stuff. 24. OK, so in the choice among "animal, vegetable or mineral".... I'd say modern humans are scientifically classed as Homo Sapien Sapiens . . . there is more to it - but animal covers it. But, you see, he's a plant.... Totally.
