  1. Wow...they sorta caved to bing... So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  2. If, by "everyone", you mean folks charged with stalking and porno, then I guess you have a point. Where I come from there is no law against showing pictures to other adults. Studies have shown that 7 out of 10 skydivers have gotten dates this way. Anyhoo I don't see the BFD One democrat in South Carolina thinks he's a plant... http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/102383-clyburn-says-sc-dem-senate-candidate-is-a-plant-calls-for-federal-probe So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  3. He's up against Senator DeMint so unless something monumentally stupid happens (and even then...maybe not), he doesn't have a chance. This was just an interesting story either way. Did you read what he was charged with a while back!!!??? Yes. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!

  5. Sometimes, they are not. Venezuela is not a complex case study, it's a straight line track of activity. Were you to say that about Oliver Stone, I would definitely agree with you. Chavez is a thug. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  6. Where does that figure come from? source: wikipedia.org I don't know why, but there is a lot of bias against Chavez in Europe and in the US. Sometimes it evens looks like anti-Chavez propaganda to me... I'm not saying he's a good guy, I'm just saying that he might not be as bad as depicted in the news, that's all. Venezuela has seen oil production go down the tubes since Chavez took over. Store shelves are near empty now that their biggest chain has been nationalized. Inflation is over 30%. They have rolling 3 hour daily blackouts because power generation is down...because...nationalization...it's a long list. Wiki won't help you there... I have an acquaintance whom I chat with every so often down there. Things are getting worse and a lot of people are getting teed off. As to Oliver Stone: I really want to like the guy. He has a lot of interesting insights and he's a part of a generation where doing the right thing wasn't necessarily "right". I saw a really good interview with him on Huckabee's show many months ago. Alas... So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  7. GW Bush couldn't even get it right WITH a teleprompter. You wouldn't either if you had dyslexia. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  8. http://www.therightscoop.com/jon-stewart-skewers-obama-on-his-response-to-the-gulf Yep... So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  9. Were teleprompters part of the Mrs. Lincoln approved decor? Well, you got me there. They must have jumped the doggie fence from the other room... So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  10. Aside from the fact that it is a RW rag, rendering it useless as data or anything scientific must be objective, random and of a large sample size, the questions are either opinion-based or theory. If you had read the column, you would have seen this: What you missed in President Clinton's terms was that capital gains taxes were cut massively, and the revenue through that vehicle rose dramatically. They didn't need to establish theories of economics because the precepts noted are not theories. Controls do not reduce costs/obstacles. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  11. I think that is in the Lincoln Dining Room (East Room), in which case, the only thing hanging in there besides some mirrors is a portrait of President Lincoln. That is by design, and I wouldn't fault them for not hanging anything else in there, as that was at the request of Mrs. Lincoln if I recall correctly. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  12. Bullshit on a stick! I suppose you think The Economist is on an even keel as well? Reuters is far far far from accurate particularly in their coverage of Africa and the Middle East. They can do so because of their size and so few other western news/media entities don't have their own assets in the area. Reuters has had their hand caught on the mouse of pictures so many times it's tragic. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!

  14. >>>>>>>>> The bad news for Democrats is that those hires are likely to come off the employment rolls at the end of summer I would think that is bad news for all people who want to see the US do well. Oh yea, the real Americans, the Repuklicans want America to fail, I almost forgot. Even if the Dems are viewed as bad, they have to look atthe alternative and they are the turds who got us here, so it's more bad news for Repubs, I mean the job mess is good news for them, but the election thing is still bad. If you looka the 3.4% unemp rose from Feb 2008 to Feb 2009, the year before Obama, I think jobs are as good as could be expected. See that? Even YOU can't spin the rhetoric that got President Obama elected, the stimulus passed or omnibus passed...first it was "immediate effect" then it was "well it will take some time". Thing is, none of these guys know. What we do know is that the current "limping" isn't enough. We're 15-16 months into the administration. Blaming the predecessor doesn't work. We don't elect leaders to blame. We elect leaders to lead. There is a massive void of leadership right now. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  15. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/06/05/obama-backing-deal-lift-global-ban-commercial-whaling/ I don't even see where this makes political sense, never mind the fact that it doesn't make practical sense what-so-ever. So, by lifting the moratorium.... ...and at the end of 10 years...what happens? This doesn't make sense to me, albeit I've not thoroughly researched the matter, but given the track record of broken words, I would venture that this would end up badly for the whales. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  16. The Border Patrol has difficulty meeting its recruiting goals. Perhaps a few of the TP folks would volunteer for a 3 year stretch at the border. Nice work environment: desert, 100 degee heat... Yeah, but it's a dry heat... So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  17. I agree. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  18. I guess this will delay the 2012 target for many of the Eastern European nations to join. (Poland, oddly, is doing pretty well in this current state of affairs) probably yes. as much as I like the idea of a unified europe without borders and a strong economic bond between the countries I still think the expansion/taking in more countris came way to early. we've been far to euphoric and optimistic and the way this continent (still) has to go in the near future doesn't seem to bright at all. to many questions are unanswered: will europe be able to speak with one voice (read: foreign affairs), who should take leadership (will there ever be something like a president for all? do we even want this???), how should things be dealt with on a local level (legislative waterhead based in brussels?), how are we going to deal with uprising and resurrection of nationalism (hungary comes to my mind but i guess there are other places as well that like to blame "europe" for homegrown problems) this list could be longer -so you see: greece is just on part of a much greater complex puzzle Here is where countries that are now members (Greece for one) are not served by such a single voice: Cyprus. Greece is now able to hold an economically stronger country like Turkey away from the table. As you said, it's only one example and a reason why the single currency may be not the best idea in the end. None of the members are following their own rules. So, how do you tie in economics without giving up sovereignty? Free trade - plain and simple. Tax treaties for pan-European companies and payroll, etc. Throw in formulas for currency variables and you have an equally imperfect, but ultimately more flexible situation...just one idea off the cuff. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  19. And China will be laughing. Seems that Communism is the most effective form of government from a fiscal stance. I guess when you oppress the people gov does well. When you allow for the elite to run things, the elite does well. This isn't really hard to understand; whomever is in power succeeds. One of the most obtuse comments I've seen in a while. Well done. You like to cite "fascism" so often in your posts, well PRC is a perfect example, coupled with a single-party authoritarian system where human rights, the environment and the rule of law are easily melted away. I'm glad you're such a fan of China. When are you moving? America's is neo-fascism, China's more conventional Fascism with totalitarianism. Funny how theirs provides HC and ours does not. I guess when you spend 8 times what China does, that makes the diff. None the less, Chinese Communism is the most profitable system in the world as I know it. Maybe Taiwan is more efficient. American Capitalism is a bust, I see you keep thinking it's great and if we could only spend less on social svs and yet more on the military it wouldbe better, right? Let's see, we already spend more than double on HHS and Social Security than we do on defense...that doesn't include DoL or DoEd....add in stimulus and omnibus, we're somewhere around 4x ...you have your wish and we haven't even factored the healthcare reform bill. Really... And we have such an efficient system? If we quit fighting it and went to single payer there would be less waste and fraud. Doctors would be gov employed and therefore would have no reason to corrupt, fraud, steal, collude, etc. The system now is gov-paid via medicare for private svs, so fraud is aplenty. Wait...wait...wait...wait...wait....ARE YOU SAYING THAT GOVERNMENT SYSTEMS AND THE BUREAUCRACY AREN'T CORRUPT AND THERE ISN'T FRAUD???!!! So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!

  22. http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/economics/article7140270.ece This is quite a development. Greece needs their own deflation to get out from under. Stifles the imagination. They're at about 130% GDP, the US isn't far behind at 90%...when will need to hyper-inflate? Does anyone think we will have to? What will this mean to the Euro, I think it could mean the end...Italy, Ireland, Spain, Portugal could all follow suit. Germany and France would be royally f**ked. Holy shit! So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  23. If is wasn't 'something of value', then why was it offered as an incentive? The fact that it was offered (instead of just asking nicely) leads me to believe that the people offering it certainly believed it had great value. So, to sum up, every time somebody offers you a job, your consider that an attempt at bribery. Good to know. Also, I find it amusing that we're still ignoring the fact that Saint Ronnie and W did the exact same fucking thing. Here's a clipping for the President Reagan part...doesn't say he was offered a specific job...in fact, Hayakawa stated no one at the White House contacted him. http://twitpic.com/1ruq64 http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1454&dat=19811126&id=ibcsAAAAIBAJ&sjid=HhQEAAAAIBAJ&pg=5060,5317656 I honestly don't remember which job President Bush offered to whom? I'm still waiting for someone to remind me which position President Bush offered to whom, because I really don't remember, and my google searches are either too obscure or...well, someone fill me in here, since I've already shown the vast difference in what President Reagan "supposedly" did.... So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
  24. Read the articles. Gaza is a free country in its own right and as such has the right to trade as it wishes. It is not for Israel to dictate what those independent of them can or cannot do. 1. Gaza is not a country. 2. Gaza has fallen under control of militants despite attempts to elect its own government (centered at the West Bank). 3. The blockade is both Egyptian and Israeli in nature. 4. This was a lose-lose situation for Israel - Let the aid in, blockade is dissolved, flood-gates are open to whatever. Block the aid, and it's played to the inhumanity of it all. If the organizers of this aid were truly interested in getting the aid to Gaza, then the established channels could have been used quite simply.
