  1. Tell me why? I so totally prefer L-R The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  2. My theory is that the pin has a "smoother" ride. But it mainly comes from my personal experience. Tried both ways, now have about 500ish pull out jumps (800 total). Maybe it's a Jav odd. thing? 3. The L-R sequence can only lead to hard pull/total when the bridle is misrouted. The only thing R-L sequence does it make it harder to misroute the bridle. The consequence is harder pulls though. When you use pull-out in whatever rig, using whatever closing sequence, you have to be very carefull packing and checking. If you don't don't jump pull-out, use the general beter system throw-away. 4. Did anyone notice, by the packing instruction pull-out the figures doesn't match the description? The text says left-right flap closing sequence, the picture says right left. Although it leaves the change open for a routing mistake, I personally prefer the left-right sequence, it gives lighter pulls. 6. I don't think I'm happy when I'm going to bounce... . I agree with Ron. I do agree I would die doing something I would never have wanted to mis, even if that would be the ending, so be it. 7. What were they using a vertical tunnel for in WWII? IOW what was the tunnel used for previously? The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  8. It would be nice though to post it on the forum also, or at least the answer you were given. This way we inform each other and keep each other educated. 9. In my NJ Odyssey, I have an Techno 128 and Contrail 135. Not the easiest packjob, not a fight either. The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  10. You forgot the 3th option, the rules in the US are too radical. In The Netherlands it's according factory recomandations. Last time i checked, 500 without birdman instructor, 200 with. 11. They were test jumping a unit that wasn't on the market at that time and they weren't allowed by the french parachute association. (they were quickly unbanned after that again) The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. 12. Aggiedave suggested the Sabre2. Sounds like a good option, also for your experience. Just don't forget 1 thing, the canopy doesn't change performance while landing, High-speed/ radical performance high up is alos high-speed / radical performance while landing and avoiding obstacle's. 13. It's an RSL system with the RSL "bugs". I don't have to argue how many people would be saved each year by a proper functioning RSL do I? 14. The other companies also would want the skyhook. Given the adaptions that have to be made on a rig, a manufactorer would first want to see if it becomes a big selling point. When they are convinced by the market, they have to chose for the skyhook. (RW is still the only one offering ballon pilots) I know of at least 1 other skyhook-like design which does the same, but works in another way. And yes it is new, and no I can't tell you how it works. The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. 16. I give them the benefit of the doubt, since they have everything to loose by lying. The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  17. I buy a drink for my rigger, just because of the tradition. I am not alarmed at people not folowwing this tradition. Why? Riggers today (at least most dutch riggers) are running a business. I pay € 75 every repack, taken there isn't anything that has to be replaced. And for € 75,- they should do their job. It's normal fee for labor, so they shouldn't expect anything more. I know my rigger doesn't expect anything though. But Hey, I like the tradition. Using my reserve is a rare occasion (once in 800 jumps) and last time I did it, it was a hell of alot fun. Only the shame! (it was my own packjob and I well I was opening it... ) The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. 18. This is what amazes me. In The Netherlands EVERYONE has health insurance. Hell, it is even a crime not to have it. Is it so rare over there to have health insurance? 19. Experimental unit, never released to public. USPA called it a beta unit, which it was, technicly speaking (beta=experimental). It was NOT a beta unit as sold by ViGIL. You are confusing 2 sources. This is the only misfire I have heard of so far, on a production vigil. And I've only read about it at Dz.com. I have yet to see an official report. I am waiting for it though. What do you know, what the rest of the world doesn't know? I've only seen this height mentioned in skydiving magazine, and several sources have contradicted it since. But maybe you've ordered the CREEP also? These were ground fires, adresses with this SB. Which activations have I missed? You're insinuation the Vigil is dangerous isn't based on facts. You seem very uninformed. There have been ground misfires, air misfires and late fires (not life saving) of cypres units also. I still think cypres is a relative safe device. 20. bump, what happend to this idea? The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  21. Beta=experimental! You have never seen who is sewing your reserve have you? I would advise you to check out PD's production line, maybe the most respectable line in de community. 22. This could also be the reason why people starting to hook downwind, mostly have the tendesy to be low... The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  23. Although I only understand this rule through aplying american thinking, but that would make this politics and there is another forum for that. I do wonder: If I'm exceeding the MSW of my reserve, I'm not jumping it under a legal TSO. Would that make it legal for me, as a foreign jumper to jump TSO gear on a 6 months repack cycle? (which is normal for The Neterlands) The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  24. My experiences show that most of the times, when the instructions are correct they don't and visa versa... The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  25. Uhmmm.... Maybe Bill Booth would want to comment on this, since he did some extensive tests on sun exposure. But I would worry more about lose on strength because of UV damage than color fading... ? The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die.
