  2. Hmm.. slept now and come to think of it you're right. My theory only stands when you're not on terminal velocity. But that leaves me with 2 questions: 1) Does blood go to your head? 2) If not, why? The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  3. Ok, over simplification, added by language barrier. Only intended for laymen. Straining does the oposite, tensioning your muscles keeps blood flowing in your veins, increased heart beat in your ateries. There is a gigantic difference in force on a body in freefall than a body on the ground. In dutch it's called Normaalkracht (Fn) or the force that the ground acts on your body, is does not act this force on your blood directly. 4. When I first started pull-out, I had this, while wearing a wingsuit (camerasuit). Dipped shoulder, got a nice spinner (contrail 135 @ 1.5) kicked it out and shorted the pull-out bridle (and made it a "ring" which has the pilot, pin and handle attached to it) after this modification never had troubles again and it made the pull lighter because of the pulley effect. 5. It will cost you just a much (well minus a repack maybe). They will always charge a 4 year and a 8 year maintenance even if you do it at 10 years... 6. No this is wrong, the blood doesn't rush to your head because your body is going at the same speed as your blood. During a head-stand on the floor, your body is still, but your blood is moving, in Freefall they are both moving driven by the same force... Another way to look at it, is that you are weightless during Freefall, and so is your blood. The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. 9. In the Netherlands they're not uncommon on SMALL reserve's. I think it's nuts, you don't need ehm and what you don't need you don't want on your reserve. 10. Hija, Good change in attitude, I'm not up to speed with patient psychology on HIV precise, but for terminal patients in general; You're doing great! Who knows, maybe you're a lucky and will die of old age before AIDS kicks in. I hope so for you. AIDS is not a disease, it's a syndrome (it's in the name). AIDS won't kill you, it's the common cold that will kill you. Or most likely a yeast infection or lung infection. The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. 11. I would love all the electronic benefits mentioned above, but for just the scan's (in PDF for example) on disks I would pay a $ 100,- For a full electronic version I would pay $200,- And about $ 30,- for yearly updates on both. I am not a rigger, but a material nut. And the book itself (costing about $ 500,- if I'm not mistaken?) is way to expansive for me.... I already have pointers I and II, but for an electronic version (with search options etc.) I would pay about $ 30-40, if I didn't have the book already $40-50. I do want rights to install all the cd's on at least 3 computers though. (prefferably 5) Since I have a different computer at home and at the DZ and probably will buy a laptop in a couple of years. 13. Hi Peter, I have been thinking about this for quite some time latly... Only the BVR states a child must 16, in nowhere to be found in the RVSS. So technicly, since PCA is at the moment not afiliated with the KNVvL your kid can jump there. You just need someone who will state he is his instructor (someone without KNVvL papers, but could be the pilot) and your homefree... ! Don't know if this would help other things though... So, uhm, correct me if I'm wrong. You are delibratly making a malfunction in your opening system, to prevent you from possibly making a malfunstion in your opening system? 15. I have been happily skydiving since 16, now I have almost 800 jumps (in almost 7 years). Why were by jumps before i got 18 irresponsible? In fact If I was allowed to jump even before 16, why would that be anymore dangerous? Age is just a number. The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. 17. I had an interesting incident last year jumping video. One that I hadn't thought of before. During a tandemvideo skydive. A routine skydive (like they ever are? ) Waved goodbye to opening TM, turned around, dumped and on the moment of line stretch i felt my helmet getting lose and heard a snap unclicking. Since we've had 3 helmets (luckely not mine.. :) ) lost at our dropzone like this, I immidiatly grabbed my chinpiece (with both hands) to hold on to the helmet. Probably because of this reaction I got linetwists in the risers fixing the helmet and pulling back. Because of the pulling on the helmet my hands were now stuck between my chin and the helmet and I was going into a spinning mal... "Very interesting" were my exact thought as i remember... Anyways I managed to get out of the twist by thowing my body around and since the TM openend at 5000, i was happly flying my canopy at 1700... . Although this was a freak accident it made me wonder... damn that could have been it.... Edit: Full Face custom built helmet, standard top mount set up (TRV top and camera on forehead) Contrail 135 loaded at 1.7 The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. 18. Once upon a time, at a nerdy flight sim convention, I got a text message. I wasn't expecting messages because..well...i'm a frickin nerd. So I read it and discovered to my horror that my fly had been open since I left the Arby's. then i remembered that I had walked past McDonalds and The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. 19. Now this is not a problem, in the Netherlands the lawyer would probably just laugh. If not, and you did nothing you shouldn't have done, it wouldn't even make it to court. 20. Maybe it's an USA sexual frustration thing... Simply the more you make in an issue the more it becommes an issue. You're making a tandem skydive, who is talking about sexual intentions anyway? 21. Hahahaha That would be quite embarrising for the TM.. you know we can't do a think about it... "Ok door? " "No!" "Why not?" "My passenger isn't hooked up" "So hook her up" "Not possible" "Why not? " "Well it's kinda complicated...." The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. 24. With all repect to you're impressive license number (I must have been liquid when you got your D license) I think you have lost touch with students on this one. My scariest students are the ones that are perfectly stable from jump 1. They are naturals and know how to stay stable and relaxed. But when the do backloops and experience instability they freak! Besides you cannot learn stability without knowing instability. Just the same as you don't know what hate is unless you have truely loved some1, but now I am going philosophic... 25. Good article, I do have some comments though. Best not to mix spotting instruction with exit order instruction, although closly related, a different discussion (an FS-4 cameraguy probably opens higher than the skydivers behind him) Be very carefull about using this technique, a ground view of exit point can give a very distorted view, because you don't have any references up there. It can be a usefull tool, but be carefull with it. Must DZ's have the ability to take a look at de uppers and lowers on the ground, use this! On the preparation of the jumprun, make sure you can have contanct with the pilot! On the Cessna C-208 for example you're view (and communication) with the pilot can be blocked by jumpers getting upright. Round reserves (In the Netherlands at least) are so rare, that it's the guy jumping it his responisibilty to inform the spotter about his reserve. On a twin otter for example the first groups will exit too short for a round reserve, while the last groups will exit too far. If there isn't a round reserve on board, don't spot for it, we have square's now... The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
