  1. You should have bought a secondhand stiletto here in The Netherlands. They are dead cheap and plenty avaible. This is because dutch canopy regulations don't allow people with less then 500 jumps flying a stilleto. But since there are alot of people out there with stilleto's, the supply is huge and demand very little... The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. 2. It's very hard to recommend a canopy without knowing your skills or knowing what you are looking for in a canopy. You are saying you want an "elliptical". This term is very confusing and maybe a bit old fashioned. The first canopy which wasn't rectangular (the French BT canopy line) was called elliptical, today's standard would call it a tapered wing. You must ask yourself, what do you want from a canopy? And do you need to get another canopy to achieve this? If you know what you want from a canopy, then you can look into canopies which provide these qualities for you. But always remember to incorperate your abilities to fly a certain canopy or certain wingload. Though I suspect this won't be a problem, since you seem to be careful with your wingload. 3. It's not a huge difference. 0.06 under that isn't a huge difference either. Or 0.02 isn't a huge difference. But when you add them up, it's 1,4 which is a huge difference. The point I am trying to make: Icarus recommends 1.4, not 1.35, so why deviate? BTW, like already mentioned, if you don't want to fly higher WL (which is a good thing), you should probably look at other canopies, better suited for safer flight. 4. Hmmmm.. 70 jumps a year and jumping tandemvideo with not more than 200 jumps, or maximum 100 videojumps total.... Interesting DZO The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  5. I've been using 2 Sony Infolithium M series batteries for over 3 years now, always keep them fully charged. Still get 200 minutes out of them as far as I know. 6. Ah, I am used at outsourced maintenance. I see the problem here... Dangerous territory especially in the court happy USA.... The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  7. Yes, but both are rules. Safefty can never be secured by rules. They do help alot. AC maintenance is not a problem overhere (The Netherlands) The plane simply can't fly if the maintenance isn't ok. (very strict goverment rules) The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  8. This question cannot be answered. What is safe? Every DZ makes profit at the cost of safety. We aren't always jumping in ideal weather, simply because it rarely is ideal weather. We don't reline student canopies every 200 hundered jumps, but it would be better. Where do you draw the line? safty isn't a measurble standard, it's a big grey area. 9. according to: http://www.dvspot.com/reviews/sony/trv19-review/index.shtml It's an NP-FM30. But Sony has some clear battery lines, in this case it's an M-series, or more precise an InfoLithium M-series. Any battery from this series will do. 10. That's stupid, the big pro for the D70 is its speed . Although I think speed is important, it's not that important as some people claim IMHO. My analogue SLR (Pentax MZ-10) only does 1.8 fps. (but it does it continously, so I am still only limited by the film ;) ) The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. 14. What broke? I will probably only use the socket, not the remote itself. BTW the E-10 and *Ist DS (the latter of which I am eyeballing too) compared to the E-1, is a different market (prosumer vs pro respectfully) The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. 15. Has any1 have any experiences with above camera? Because of a student promotion I can get it for € 999,- incl. battery, charger and 14-54mm Lense (28-108) F2.8 - 3.5. It seems a great deal.... I will use it with an regular upside down topmount. The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. 16. In that case you made an extremly good deal for $ 70,-
  17. No Saskia, Your incorrect. At hoxter the problem was a misconfigured cypres. Well the first problem was off course a lose of altitude awareness. The cypres problem was that they didn't adjust for the higher elevation of the DZ they were jumping at. I don't remember if AWD were involved, but it seems logical and they would have the same problem. The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. 18. If I remember correctly, this was the norwagian 4 way team, using the then experimental pro-dytter which had a beta version software in it. The cypres fired correctly. 19. Am I the only one thinking of this? I think maintenance isn't enough, I expect that the J-mod has still to be done... very expensive... 21. This is the only way to fight drugs. In The Netherlands it is allowed (not legal, but allowed) to sell/ use "soft-drugs" like marihuana. After I think 10 years by now or something, results: Lowest number of drug addicts in Europe and USA. Smallest number of youth using marihuana and other soft drugs. Enormous drop in drug related crime. So I think it's pretty smart... The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. 23. Hi, We've been using the C208B for 7 years now. We let our students sit. Adaptations from a C206: We let them sit in the middle of the door. That way the ussually end up about 2/3. Also we are briefed for the FJC an onward to firmly grip the door before letting their leggs go out. Also we changed their exit position from box to delta to prevent them from flipping backward. Personnally when I'm dropping students I ussually place my knee behind them, that way they can't slide backwards and still have a change of a stable exit, even if they let themselves blown to the back. Vigil Letter

Would you say the same if you'd got a similar letter over the cypres, Aerodyne or PD? I didn't get the letter, maybe ít wasn't sent to me, or maybe one of my spam filters got it, but it would be interessting to see where it came from (Header info) The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. 25. I also have great experiences with them. I had the old plastic screws on my Z1 full face (with the rubber ring) and when they went lose, I just emailed them and they sent the new plastic screws (with the spring) free of charge.
