  2. That's just stupid, the Vector RSL setup is IMHO opinion superior to others. But this is not an issue here! A too short RSL lanyard will always pull the reserve pin out, which setup it is on what so ever. This summer I grounded a rig, during a pin-check which had such a too short setup. (this was on the left (Reserve ripcord through RSL ring setup)) When jumper geared down, hanging the rig on the risers would actually move the reservepin! (cause was a rigging error using an incorrect RSL) Lengtening/ replacing a RSL can be easily done in the field, why send to the manufactorer?   5. No It was intended (apperently never used) as a secondary reserve handle, since on a tandem you couldn't use the reservehandle with your right hand. (passenger was in the way). Making the reserve handle a loop made the ball redundant. Also the ball frequently interfered with the 3 ring system, making it possible for the system to lock up. (don't know if this ever happend during a live cutaway). Also for the trivia: The yellow tab didn't replace the crystall ball, it was always there.   7. That's so true. Now both a vidiot and a tandemmaster. It's something you do together for a paying customer. I hate it when tandemmasters make a jump on their own, with just an anoying weight in front of them. Making a big show for the video, so they have all the attention and not the passenger. I even had a tandemmaster who didn't even care to land next to me on the DZ, but just landed 200 meter next to me, so he didn't have to walk to the car (and wasn't interested in spotting me) The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die.   8. untill about 2 km out we can still see from our hangar. If it's further out, the tandem couldn't make the DZ if the camera couldn't. Also The Netherlands is very densly populated, when we land out we usually have people around us (non jumpers) within 2 minutes.   9. I will only respond 1 more time, because this is a useless discussion. I will say again, on my DZ this will not be a significant difference and I know a number of DZ's in The Netherlands which this would be no difference at all. The terrain may be easier to reach for the ambulance then the DZ. Don't forget, the world is bigger then the USA. (In The Netherlands, wherever you land a paramedic is ready to treat you within 15 minutes (it's law and they're very strict about this).   14. Just out of curiosity, did you peel? On my reserveride on a Vector 2 tandem I had alot of trouble cutingaway, untill I realised I forgot to peel (took about 2 seconds). I wasn't even talking about the test on the AFF jump, since it is irrelevant. Experimental unit doing wat was predicted it was supposed to do.   17. Peter, having a vork, a spoon and a knife avaible. Then using the vork to eat your soap, doesn't make the spoon defect. If you don't get this comparison you don't get the test. (certainly if you want to sustain your comments on another fatality, in which you either forgot some facts or don't have them all). Speaking of the test jumps, the manufactorer indicates beforehand this particular unit wouldn't function the way Jo wanted too on the said setup. Not really an amazing conclusion.   18. I answered yes to that too, don't think of it as a serious option, so no serious answer was needed. Only signal I give them are 2 taps on the shoulder, for them to grab the harnas.   21. Look, jerome, Like I said before and will again. As a manufactorer I understand you have to make sure you can't be sued, so as a business decision I understand the bulletin. But then, if you truly can't see the conditions of testing were completly different and unreproducible for both the cutter tests, further discussing has no use. I am not skilled in developing skydiving equipment. I am in preparing experimental setups, in other words make gathering data usefull. The data generated (or lack of thereoff) by Jo Oosterveer is trash and random. Since tension on all loops could be completly different, knots could be of different sizes and tapes on different places conditions aren't equal. Also 1 cutter was tested in chamber, while other was tested clutterd in a pouch. This is only tip of the iceberg, commenting only on the way this "homeplay" (almost hoax) was setup. If you want to get into details on proper cutter function you should look at the reply of argus further in this thread commenting on cutter design differences. I want to be very clear on this. I do not yet endorse Argus, I have it in my rig and I trust them enough to use it myself. This is attributed on a reasonable part on the conversations I've had with the people behind Argus. For me to endorse Argus fully to my students Argus has to prove itself in the field first. So far Argus is the ONLY AAD ever without an incident in the field, off course this is also because they are new. What I am truly pissed about is that it only takes 1 out of control rigger to trash a new manufactorer this way, without any true arguments if you pop the hot air bubble.   23. I'm a true Bill beard follower and marvel about his inovations, but this is not his invention as far as I know. Have heard of magnetic riser covers for some years now.   24. Wrong Peter, learn to understand test scenario's. They way the test was setup, this cannot be verified. Also it cannot be verified they were jumping a production unit. Lastly the test setup (pocket of unknown material on unspecified, any case wrong placement) makes the result irrelevant. Not even speaking of the lack of data. We all know this rigger has some issues. Hmm, Aviacom may disagree, since they did alot more live test jumps. This rigger didn't do ANY dedicated test jump. NOT EVEN ONE. This is simply not the case, or in any case cannot be verified. He's comparing apples and oranges. This is also the reason why the dutch authorities have distanced themselves from this rigger.   25. To replace the batteries, a repack is needed. So most probably only riggers will replace the batteries. Furthermore, concerning the bulletin in general, you can indeed give out any bulletin you wish. I can agree or disagree with your arguments, but that's trivial.
