  1. On http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/Sonys-New-HDR-TG1-Pocket-Sized-AVCHD-Camcorder-34829.htm The sensor size is given as 1/5", so that would roughly mean a crop factor of 10, so it would be a 33-330 35mm equivalent lens. 3. Hmm, that's seems correct: http://www.engadget.com/photos/sonys-900-hdr-tg1-worlds-smallest-1080p-camcorder/732285/ No thread to screw anything on. It has a 3,3-33 lens, but I can't find the sensor size anywhere, so can't tell what it's 35mm equivalant FOV will be... But anyways, for the inferiour sidemount gang... they don't need lenses... 9. Well, it's 30 FPS at 720P, but at 1080, it becomes 60 fields per second, so image quality will probably suffer. Furthermore it apparantly has a 60 frame buffer... :( The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. 10. 12. Then why do they mention stops, besides the in mentioned error codes in the manual have no meaning to the user? Why do they explicetly say, if startup fails, simply try again? Look, I stated in the beginning we can differ on opinion how serious this issue is. I don't want to get in that argument, cause it's a matter of opinion. What I do get angry about, is people claiming this to be a case of RTFM. If you follow the manual, you simply try again and if it doesn't work, you have a choice of jumping without the AAD, or not jumping. Again, wheter or not, this SB is an issue, depends on opinion, but it's not a case of RTFM. The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. 13. I thought I pretty much new the manual by heart, but to check it again, i just read it again (dutch version). 1) Manual states nowhere you have to watch the countdown. 2) Manual states numbers appearing, unless they are error numbers, have no meaning to the users. 3) Manual states, that after an error, the unit will shutdown. 4) Manual explicitly states, if the start-up failes, simply try again. 5) Manual implies the unit will only be "on" if the display displays "0" 6) Manual implies unit will not fire, when unit isn't on. Like I said before, alot of trouble is caused by people not RTFM, but this is not it. (check statement 4 (page 18 of manual)) The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  14. This happens quite often frankly, although untill now, it was either a "wrong push" or a stiff "window". Sometime people who are on a boarding call just think, whatever, just a hop and pop, I'll do it after this jump. This is not a rare occurance and is not in disagreement with the manual. Furthermore, it isn't "household" behavior for most people to watch the countdown, you turn it on, do the rest of the check, or do something else and when it's time to jump, to check if it reads "0". The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  15. Like I said can... (ok I made a typo "van") Yet serveral users here on dz.com has reported such an error, but because they didn't want to jump without a cypres, we don't know what happend. What we do know now, is the unit cannot be trusted when this happens AND you can't see it (you have to know it). Further more, again you state this will happen to all AAD's, which is only speculation on your side. Well, the VIGIL has been around longer then Cypres 2. (although VIGIL isn't my choice of AAD, but that is because of other reasons) BTW this is the second time cypres 2 has problems with it's display and the second time AirTec doesn't find a recall nescessary. At least the first time they could fix it in the new units... The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  16. This is quite a statement you put out here. You state that: 1) All AAD manufactorers have a problem, which enables their AAD's to be on, but with a blank display. 2) In that condition, the unit van misfire at will (after a certain unspecified flight condition occurs). I have seen no report from AAD (Vigil) or Argus, stating such a thing. The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  17. in other words, you can't. (you can test it, although the bulletin states the unit could be wrong after a single error at startup, but you can never see it...) The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  18. I agree RTFM would have a significant impact in alot of questions asked on dz.com, but that has nothing to do with this issue... The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  19. This isn't a case of RTFM. Where in the manual do find a warning that a cypres is dangerous when jumped if 0 isn't on the display? Mind you, rig will be swaped, used by multiple persons, prepared by persons not jumping the rig themselves. I've said in different topics already, but this is NOT a case of RTFM, the problem stated: "If cypres does not say "0" you can't say if the unit is off, or maybe someone turned it on with an error in which case in can misfire at will" True, I personally think this is a serieus issue, but you can differ of opinion on that. What does irritate me is people claiming this to be a case of RTFM. It is beyond me how "holy" Airtec is. They're responsible for save AAD's, they made it possible, and therefore saved ALOT of lives and should be credited for that. But they're not saints and have made big mistakes before. I am probably biased though, since I jump another AAD. The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. 20. A little bit off-topic, but I wonder how this is regulated in other countries: In The Netherlands (and I assume Europe (EU)) the shipping is the responsibility of the seller (if this is a shop), so when something is lost in the mail, it that shop that has to solve it. 21. damn, now how do you combine this, with a camera, photocamera and a separate mic.... (drooles) The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  22. Fix the problem and then, yes then offer a recall. Just like AAD (Vigil) did for all their problems. And Argus did for their cutter, when they found out they had (1) frayed loop in their evaluation program. This is the second time in recent years Airtec has a problem, in which they tell you "Hey, you can't see, if the cypres is on or not, but just jump it anyway" To make things even worse, this time you can get misfires, when you think it's off! My problem is, that if you pick up a rig, from now on, if it has a cypres it has to either on (0), or you can't jump that rig anymore. The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  23. Yeah, but what if you mis the error? I personally think, this issue is treated way to lightly. In fact, so far as I can tell, this bulletin means. If a rig has a cypres, and it doesn't say "0". You can't trust that rig. Talking about handling the issues. Airtec basically says "live with it". I'm a little bit passionate about this, but this is caused by the downplaying, of what I think, is a serious issue. (And Airtec has downplayed another serieus issue in the past, which has cost 1 (well known) life). I must say I jump another AAD, so I am probably biased. The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  24. Well, the advantage of skyhook with camera jumping is, that the skyhook system pulls aways the lines and freebag from your helmet.
