  1. I've read 4 GB for almost 30 minutes of HQ, which works out to 18 mbit/s which would be perfect. I also don't like the memorystick, but since I don't plan on archiving on flash for quite some time, it will probably be ok for now. Great thing is also it can record SD, hopefully in great quility, great for those tandem DVD's. Ashame it used H batteries, since I really like my f90 M battery.... :D Any1 know anything about lanc? (and support for cameye/ hypeye?) Since my trusty old TRV6 needs replacing, this is the cam I was (almost) dreaming about... EDIT: According to this german site: http://www.camcorder-test.com/camcordercmd-i-view-u-what-i-detail-u-id-i-31-u-name-i-Sony-HDR-CX7.html It won't have Lanc :(. Can't find a connection on any picture either... :( The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. Mind the difference between HDV and DVCPRO (the latter this cam). A little more affordable are the AVCHD cams of panasonic, which are about € 1000,- . 5. Can you give more details, cause like dragon2 stated, none are known. The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  6. Talk about kicking open doors in. My comment was ment for intenional drogueless with inexperienced jumpers. Personally I don't have any problems flying my students, but I'm a tall guy so I can outfly any student quite easily. Still I don't like tempting faith. But that could also be my lack of experience. 11. Why? A test-jumper is a test-jumper, wheter or not it's family. It's perfectly fine to let a test-jumper experiment for you as long as he's not family? Argus openly advertises with the fact, allmost the complete staff and family are jumpers and activily involved in the development program. Since this is an experimental jump, done by in house test-jumpers, this shouldn't be on the forum. And they way it is titled and announced, it looks like nothing more then black-mouthing, probably with personal or commercial interest. Since you're over there, could you give some more info? The XDCAM XE is a beast, but not very suited for skydiving I think, considering it's price alone... ;) The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. 13. I have no experiences with the mentoned camera's, but you probably do want lanc, wich you need for features like cameye etc. The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  14. histoy trivia: I know 1 jumper who's reserve container was cut open with a knife, because of suspicion of coke trafficking. 15. I thought US patents issued before 1995, expired 17 years after filing, that's my mistake then. Did FXC pay license fee for Astra then? Else the patent would be void too, if I'm not mistaken. 16. Well, that one is expired I believe... The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  17. Maybe their waterfilter is a very exotic one? Waterfilters like theirs have alot of prior art, even in specific AAD's (Argus) The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...
  18. For every region this works out different, but over here this is common knowledge for quite some time now. A few years ago, prices were adjusted accordingly. Some DZ's in Europe in general don't have any price differences for low and high pases at all anymore. The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. 19. It was an uncocked p/c... (which in turn entangled with the reserve pilot chute, which took almost 3000 ft to get undone... Sometimes it's saver to do tandem video... 21. I'm no patent expert, but could someone explain to me the use of this patent? Since it's filled in 2004, allmost everything has prior art? The Argus and Vigil were both already out their (albeit the Argus only in test units in experimental gear) The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. 22. Slightly offtopic, but what patents does Airtec (pr the other aad manufactorers) hold? The cutter is patent free since the early 80's if I remember correctly. 23. Jerôme, lol, you make very nice systems, but saying the advance tandem is equivilant to sigma is a bit far fetched. 24. You are kinda rude and while someone posts a friendly reminder, you totally ignore netiquete. The forum has a search forum, which you van use. Reactions and questions from users in the same community you're asking now. If you can't find enough info there (like a specific question as: how often did you replace your cutter?), maybe a new thread is in order. But you can only find out after a good search. 25. In The Netherlands every DZ still over staticline courses and only 1 DZ doesn't offer staticline progression. Over here the "market" has crashed a couple of years ago also. Possible factors: - Economics ? - Competing cheap holidays? - My body is my temple philosophy (and need to protect it) ? - Most people make about 700 jumps, you used to take 8-10 years for those numbers, now only 2. (making the current market smaller and also mouth to mouth declining) - Smaller military budgets ? - Because of changing mentality people are more and more customers, activly promoting skydiving has declined ? - People get the experience with tandem instead of a course ? (tandem brings in less money and is more frightening then a course) (Any statistics about people remaing in sport after tandem in which they selves activate the drogue release?) -others?
