  1. Three thousand jumps is probably possible, but the openings, handling, and foreward speed would be terrible, My stiletto 135 had over 1000 jumps on it when I bought it, I put 500 on it myself then had it relined...... The DZO of Skydive Yakima in Wa. state had over 2000 jumps on his sabre 135 without changing any lines other than the brakes. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  2. I had my Icarus relined by Precision, PD wouldnt touch it and I was in a hurry to get it done. I needed it back in a hurry and they delivered it very quickly. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  3. stiletto 135 for 500 jumps, stiletto 120 200 jumps, then to my FX that I am currently jumping. The stiletto will fine tune your body position during deployment It is quite unforgiving of any bad habits. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  4. I am paying child support, but as I understand it she is well within her legal rights to deny me visitations since our custodial arrangement hasnt been filed in the courts. Morally I think she is wrong, but hey! I am the ex Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  5. Yep....... I was terrified of being a father and not sure that I wanted to be one, but now I couldnt imagine my life without him. He does cut down on my skydiving a bit, but I consider this a small price to pay. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  6. QuoteDid you have a RSL (Reserve Shit-whipping Lanyard)?Quote Or was it equipped with an AAD? an auto-matic ass detector? Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

  8. 1st . Sorry for intruding on the womens forum But I have a question that most guys probably couldnt answer: My ex girlfriend and I have a child together, we havent formalized with the courts - visitations, and support, we have a private arrangement we both agreed upon, and it worked for over a year, But we had a disagreement on one weekend and she refused to let me have him for my weekend. After the weekend we sat down and discussed filing it with the courts. we came to an agreement on weekends-holidays-etc. My question is: do we need to take it to lawyers or is their another option? perhaps a legal assistant could do the paperwork? Thanks Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

  12. My Girlfriend and I just got back from Arizona last night, on one of our layovers in Utah we got tagged for extra examination, our bags were unpacked, The screeners recognised our rigs for what they were but even the suprivisor didnt know the procedures for skydiving rigs, We had a printout straight from the TSA's website that saved us from having to unpack them. The screeners were friendly but very serious about their jobs and without this letter I am sure we would have had to unpack both rigs mains and reserves. After putting the rigs through the x ray machine three times and having me explain why her rig has a battery and mine doesnt (Cypress) and doing the chem sniff. they let us pass without anymore problems. One of the examiners even asked questions about getting started in skydiving. > If your going to travel with your rig get a copy of TSA's rules on rigs for carry ons, Keep your cool and be friendly... On a side note: The DZ in Buckeye is one of the friendliest I have ever been to. As soon as I got there I was immediatly asked if I wanted to join a group on a 10 min call, The owner of the DZ is awsome (even forgiving me a minor transgression of landing next to the building) I only got two jumps in, on the second my left sinus blew out on the jump, blood all over my face and camera----YECHH but I did have a great time there, loved the people and plan on going back. Also it was kinda funny to go that far to jump and end up jumping one of my local dz's caravan, Skydive Oregon has it leased there. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  13. Are you suggesting that the jumpers that were backing up under larger canopies would have been safer had they been jumping smaller canopies for that jump? Derek I have suggested nothing, merely pointed out one incident where larger canopy's with lighter wingloadings didnt give the jumpers the accustomed to margin for error. The fault was theirs for not picking safe landing area's soon enough, Backing up under canopy can be quite disconcerting but can be done accurately and safely Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... 14. In some situations a larger canopy can be the more dangerous...... an example from Richland WA. in 1991: 15 jumpers from two planes. on jump run the ground winds came up to 25 sustained, with gusts reaching 40mph spot was waaaay bad (note to self....dont let Price spot) I was jumping a 135 stiletto loaded at 1.4 to one, and was going no-where under canopy, my wingloading allowed me to fight the wind, but to make no progress against it.... but it was relatively easy to pick a safe landing area in a schoolyard. several of us landed in the school yard together. Once we got a ride (locals are awsome) and got back to the dz, we found out that two of the jumpers got injured, one hit a power line, (luckily he suffered only scrapes and bruses and a trashed canopy)----> wingloading approximatly .80 it was a large f-111 canopy. 2nd injury, triathlon 190 with approximatly 1-1 wingloading, lacerated throat, cut into the trachea....*note to self, dont hit dog kennels.... With their (relatively) light wingloadings, they were blown backwards and waited waaaaay too long to pick thier landing areas. one of the jumpers on the 2nd plane is a proponent of larger canopys..... and was quite vocal of his opinion of us younger guys jumping the small canopies........ at least till this incident. But if wind is not an issue then I would have to vote that larger canopys would be the safer choice. They allow a larger margin for error. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... 15. I have jumped ravens as mains and reserves, Keep the wingloading at .8-1 or lower and they work fine. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  16. Finally reaching a point of saying "dude, you're going to fucking die, Guess what? That conversation drove the point home to that jumper (finally) and he's taken a lot of steps to listen to those around him and to get more training so he can do the things he's been wanting to do. At one of the dz's that I frequent here in the northwest, A russian immigrant has been video'ing mine and others 270's and 180's decided to try his hand with surfing, *luckily under a large canopy.... he hit the ground four times that I witnessed (HARD)...... each time he did he got back up Each time I tried to talk to him all I got was .... ya ya......ok........ I figured he was on a major 200 jump wonder ego trip,....... If someone is not going to listen, then I am not going to bother talking..... ##my bad##...... he speaks such good casual english that I never bothered to question if I was using terms that he wouldnt comprehend........... Talking to my rigger (who is most awsome)...---*kissing ass here.... he informed me that the jumper in question didnt understand most of what I was trying to say to him........ He is a good safe jumper (most of the time) and a fun guy to be around, but I took his replys to be arrogance...... > my point is .. If the person your trying to communicate with seems remote and not listening, try to figure out another way to get your message across, whether its a language barrier or an ego block...... 17. ***There is a HUGE difference between the reserve pack style of the Reflex and the Racer. The only thing they have in common is they are a poptop. Quote Ok, On the reserves I dont know what the differences are, can you explain? I had "assumed" that since both are poptops then the reserve pack would have to be similar..... Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  18. What would make it more difficult to maintain just because its a racer? I have a reflex with over 1000 jumps on it and it is a racer style design, still in great shape, as for hard to pack, are you speaking of the reserve? if so a knowledgeable rigger should have no problems packing it for you. Some of the older ones did have a strange closing sequence for the main, something like bottom - left-right-top or something like that (memory fails me) Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  19. put the band on like normal, IE. one side in under the other which gives you the loop for the lines, then put it back under the tab on the bag and back through the loop you just formed..... this will give you a very small band, it also works for tube stowes. roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  20. Hey all, four of us from the northwest in our quest to find some warm weather will be in Arizona January 8th - 11th. both of these dz's will be an easy drive. If you have experience with these dz's I would appreciate your input. Thanks; Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  21. So, how many slots would you have to purchase on a skyvan or a casa to actually use that contraption? I would hate to have it on during a malfunction...... might complicate things.... Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  22. --->Next time remember it's easier to beg forgiveness then ask permission. LOL........ I learned that in the military but didnt apply what I learned in this instance...... didnt want to get my buddy kicked out of the club, as there wasnt much they could have done to me other than told me to leave..... Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  23. Its very possible, A co-worker of mine Has a two seater (operator in front-passenger behind) and we worked out the exit logistics and had planned on doing it at a six shooter fun fly in Yakima Wa. but the event organizer put the kibosh on our plans because of his concerns about me landing in the neighbors crops........ **That will teach me to try to get permission rather than just doing it.... You have cables all around you and a industrial strength quisinart behind. With this arrangement of the cables and motor the easiest way is to step over the pilot and then fall off, with a side by side riding position the exit would be even easier...... if your talking about just hitching a ride on a single seat good luck--- the parachute and motor are smaller than the two seater models and unless you are both really skinny you probably wont get off the ground.
