  1. Ok, so I am not sure where you stand, do you think dont ask dont tell should stay or go? Your last reply is a little confusing? Zoo Crew
  2. >>No problem. They follow the same rules as everyone else Right, except you missed the point of my post, the rules would have to be different. >>?? What? Right now it means you get discharged. We're talking about changing it so that it has _fewer_ consequences. Right I agree, and that is why I am asking is it a good idea, would it solve more problems than it would create. Is it a good sacrifice to be able to be open without getting discharged, but as a result be forced to use seperate showers and bathrooms etc..? >>Why would the rules on what you can do in the shower be any different whether he's straight or gay? In college I lived in a living group with coed bathrooms. It was a big deal - for about two weeks. Then everyone got over it. And alot has changed in college, including the sexual assault(both physical and mental) prevention programs, to include, yup you guessed it, segregated showers. Zoo Crew
  3. They said the same thing about blacks and whites serving together in the military. It caused some problems for a while but eventually most people realized that it was idiotic. Now they rarely have those problems. The same should happen in this case and anyone who does take their moronic beliefs and turn them into action should be punished to the fullest extent of the military code. They should receive a dishonorable discharge from the military. They don't deserve to represent this country if they can't behave like a responsible member of society. Right, that is true, but the black and white issue was not a sexually centered concern. I am assuming you have not served in the military, and have never experienced equal opportunity briefs or classes as a result. The Army is VERY strict when it comes to EO, and when a sexual topic is addressed, I assure you, they do it to the fullest of the UCMJ. Its hard to rule out emotion in a topic like this, and look at it as it is, for what it is. The logic is sound, and it is the logic that will cause these problems and that is, "for the same reason men and women do not share showers in the military, is the same reason homo and hetero sexual people, cannot share showers" ...I mean, I just don't know how to defend against a statement like that, what do you say? I mean, its true, men and women don't share barracks and bathrooms and showers, quite simply to avoid EO complaints and concerns, now if you introduce another aspect of the male female separation, I just can't see it being brushed by and getting universally accepted without a hitch. Do you see what I am saying? Its hard to talk about without sounding like a terrible person, and to avoid letting emotion rule out logic, but its a real concern. -Evo Zoo Crew
  4. Don't Ask, Don't Tell is going away. Maybe not today, but my guess would be within the next year. It takes a considerable amount of time to work out some details and get the military switched over in how they do certain things, but it's absolutely going away. A person's sexual identity or orientation should never be an issue unless you personally plan on fucking them. Done. End of discussion. Well, in an ideal world anyway. I understand "don't ask don't tell" is going away, but is it necessarily a good thing? I mean, I look at it like this, being recognized is good, it removes that burden of feeling like you have to hide who you are, but at the same time, this is not an ideal world, and I guarantee the tornado that is "Equal Opportunity" will get a slap in the face the second a straight soldier finds out one of his squad mates is gay and is showering with him. Now I know, I could care less, I understand just because they are gay doesn't mean they want to fuck everyone, but to the same regard, just because I am a man, doesn't mean I want to fuck every woman I see, but I still can't shower with women. It would be unavoidable, segregated showers and bathrooms in the military, it is unfortunate, but its the Army, and EO is a big deal. So now you ask, well the Army can't tell who is gay and who is not, so what makes them use the other bathrooms etc. Well, I have a feeling, job applications will start to have a check box for sexual orientation, and therefore requiring a pronounced homosexual to abide by rules. I know this sounds like I hate homosexuals, and I assure you I do not, like I said before some of my family are lesbian, but I am thinking realistically, rationally, being able to openly announce you are gay, will come with consequences, unfortunate ones but it will, so I ask again, is it necessarily a good thing? I mean to go from hiding, to a different form of hiding from what you initially wanted? Debate begin EDIT TO ADD** I am strictly talking about the military and their very strict EO program. -Evo Zoo Crew
  5. Thanks Wendy :) Oh wow, a Major? This will be very interesting to find out what the motives were etc.. Zoo Crew
  6. Awesome man, I started skydiving at Temple and, unfortunately, had to move way to soon due to, yes the Army. Ive done a tour in Iraq and I thank you for serving and doing it well. Have fun at Temple, I miss all those people like crazy! -Evo Zoo Crew
  7. Just to spark discussion. Do you think it would be a good idea for homosexuals to be recognized more than socially? For example, is it necessarily a good idea for Obama to get rid of the "Don't ask don't tell" policy? I personally feel like it would create more problems for homosexuals than solve them. I have no problem with homosexuals, some of my family are, I just feel like being recognized in the work place, opens a can of worms that is "Equal Opportunity" and "Tolerance" dilemmas. -Evo Zoo Crew
  8. What is the norm today, was gay marriage 50 years ago. The norm 50 years ago, was gay marriage 100 years ago. so on and so on. -Evo Zoo Crew
  9. Not a channel, but one of our videos. The music got taken out by youtube though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VC1m2CaPapk Enjoy :) -Evo Zoo Crew
  10. Sorry, didnt mean to come off that harsh, it just gets annoying seeing over and over people down digis because either A they have never used one, or B for some reason they think they require more skill to use, therefore making alot of new jumpers shy away from what they really want. All is well, blue skies! -Evo Zoo Crew
  11. And you know this because you've used both? Heaven forbid your batteries go out in a skydive(or for that matter your analog dial sticks)...I guess you'll just have to "go in". Have a plan, stick to it in the off chance your alti(digital or analog) goes out, and you'll be fine...It all comes down to what is easier for the individual to read, and that is it. Edit to add: I would almost rather have a digital alti go out on me...because it would turn off, and Id know instantly something was wrong...but with an analog, when they go out, you could never know until it was to late, due to mis reading your altitude. For the OP, don't rule out digis right off the bat because you think they are too advanced for you, its an altimeter, it tells you your height, just like any analog, but it happens to log altitude, speed, ff duration and opening height too. -Evo Zoo Crew

  13. And comparing the number of computers using the operating systems is not fair either. Leopard is pretty much exclusive to apple systems, whereas windows is the whore(used figuratively ) of the computer world. If you really wanted to compare the systems, for say reliability, I would be willing to bet the Mac would win hands down. If you wanted to compare their gaming capabilities, Id give it to windows. if you wanted to compare their versatility, Id call it a tie. Nowadays, almost every program that matters, is programmed for windows AND leopard, including windows office, photoshop, itunes, all internet explorers, many games, tons of video and music editing software, etc... Basically what I am saying is, if you compare the important characteristics of a computer, you will start to see windows and leopard even out, and maybe even see leopard pull ahead. You throw in things like hardcore computer gaming, network manipulations etc...then the target audience slims, and of course, windows pulls ahead. I have had a Mac for 3 years, and cannot think of one thing I was not able to use my computer for, when I wanted, with little to no effort. The fact is, if you consider reliability an important aspect of a computer, then Mac is your best choice hands down. -Evo Zoo Crew
  14. I wondered the same thing. Now I have a Mac :) I love the new windows 7 commercials that showcase the "convenient" new things about windows 7...things that Mac has had for years. Windows has "snap". Mac has "Spaces" and the "Apple Tab" combo...doesn't get much better than that. -Evo Zoo Crew

  17. Here is a short and simple idea for ya. SMILE!! I didn't fail any AFF levels, but my instructors noted that when I was smiling at them, sticking my tongue at them etc..my body naturally relaxed into a perfect arch. To me it sounds like you are *trying to hard* to arch. Just relax, smile, laugh, sing, stick your tongue out etc whatever relaxes you and do the tasks at hand, the arch will come naturally. Don't give up, and have fun! -Evo Zoo Crew

  19. 1) Is this sound or I´m FREAKING NUTS? Although creative, if your having a high speed mal that you are not entangled in, who cares what it is, or whats causing it. your losing altitude quickly and need to act NOW. Maybe this changes for people with more experience, but for you and me, our first and only response to a high speed-non tangle scenario needs to be EP's EDIT:aka, bag lock, tangle mess ball above, horse shoe(I know that is in a debate), etc... Remember I am only talking high speed mals, if its slow, try two times or two seconds, and if its not resolved, go to Ep's 2) What are the reasons nobody uses one? As I said above, most people who have a high speed mal that they can't see, dont really care what it is, as long as they are not tangled up in some mess, its right to Ep's. 3) Is it hazardous to have a mirror on the deploying hand? Not sure, I suppose its wouldn't be the best of things, perhaps this is why we wear alti's on the opposite of the pull hand? That is something for someone with more experience to handle. 4) Would it help as I think it might? Dont think so :) Hope that makes sense, and I am sure the more experienced diver will have some better more in depth responses, so take what I said in moderation. Blue Skies :) -Evo Zoo Crew
  20. Wearing any type of loose clothing that is not a one piece can lead to fabric covering your handles, but if you take the appropriate steps(aka tuck it in, wear a belt), I see no reason not to. I jump regularly in shorts and a long sleeve shirt for sit fly jumps. And as far as the moto gear goes, Ive seen a few people jump with the pants on, I have actually been considering this for a cheap and temporary use for a mix and match FF type suit till I invest in one of my own. Bottom line, talk to your local instructor, ask them what steps you need to take to wear normal clothes, and go for it. -Evo Zoo Crew

    Sit Fly Suit

Im sure you've heard this before, but are you wearing shorts and a long sleeve shirt? It helped alot on my first 3 or 4 sit fly jumps. Or maybe try flying in a sit with your legs partially extended like in a stand to keep up with everyone? -Evo Zoo Crew
  22. Unless you are a gamer, and or deal with very large files, Mac is the way to go. I have a Mac book pro, and its lasted me through an Iraq deployment and beyond. I can honestly say it has crashed MAYBE twice in the past 3 years, and I have not had a single virus. Gotta love a product that actually does what it is advertised to do. -Evo Zoo Crew
  23. Don't have alot of jumps, and havn't been to a ton of Dz's(7 or 8 I think), but I can tell you what I have seen and would like to see, since I am still pretty new. Likes: -Free Beer(Temple knows what up :-P) -Jump plane that is maintained well, and gets to 13K in a hurry -Mixing the students, tandems, sport jumpers all together. I used to enjoy just asking tandems you know "Howd the jump go?" "did you have fun"? Stuff like that, good for interaction I guess, Ive been to a couple Dz's where you only see students and tandems once on the plane(might be done on purpose, but what can ya do) -Music! In the packing area, outside, everywhere some good music! Adds such an awesome element. -Speaking of packing area, indoor packing is always a plus, if not, at least a large padded area, with plenty of weights on hand and free rubber bands. -Lastly, Start Skydiving is on to something with their completely automated manifest system, never have to talk to the manifest counter ever again. Dislikes -No Tv's...gotta have a few tv's somewhere accessible to watch video from the previous jump on the fly -Landing pattern that takes divers over the runway/ no landing pattern enforcement on the Dz's staff part -Rude staff/manifest people...nothing can ruin a high about an upcoming jump faster than the person at the counter being rude. -No food for miles?!? Ahh skydivers worst nightmare right? Maybe its just me, but I love some grub. -Absent DZO, meaning, you never see the man or woman in charge I could probably go on, and those things may seem insignificant, but a couple of those things have sold me on a DZ, where others have pushed me away. Blue Skies :) -Evo Zoo Crew
