  2. Is your problem on exit, or during freefall? If you are having problems in free fall with a spin, it shouldn't have much to do with how you exit, but I can recommend going back to the basics and doing toe touches while in freefall to become aware of where and what your feet are doing. Also a good thing to do is do a practice touch and hold the position and try and fly stable in the pull position. If you spin in that position, then that is also a point you want to practice. Last but not least, make sure you are relaxing in freefall, you may be tensing up a bit now that you are on your own, and creating the spin due to a rigid body position...smile on exit, and smile in free fall, do some fun stuff, try some flipping exits, etc..and you should remedy the problem :) GL -Evo Zoo Crew
  3. I completed AFF at Skydive Temple in Texas, and got my A license there too. I love that DZ so much, that I am going back to visit from my new home in DC. I have been to 6 DZ's in my lil 80 jumps, and absolutely hate that I do not jump at Temple every weekend anymore. Like someone said, they just got a 206 aircraft and are getting an otter soon, which will just complete Temple all together! Go check them out, you'll feel like family right when you enter the door, and you will receive some GREAT instruction from their staff! -Evo Zoo Crew
  4. No I agree 100% Really don't know until you've got yours hands on it, I was just making assumptions based on the information currently available. Who knows it could be a lemon, but then again, that wouldn't be good for business, especially for a company whose target population is relatively small in number. It could not live up to all the hype, and not be exactly what everyone expected, but I do not forsee any major complications, it would be economic suicide on their part. Anyways, Ill let ya know once ive played with it :-P Like I said, I am aware of the sticky, know the danger is not just in camera itself....I am not ignoring the thousands of experienced jumpers, its a choice, and one made with modest intent for a good while to come. -Evo Zoo Crew
  5. From everything I have been reading, given the size and versatility of this cam, for 300$ you really can't beat it, and comparing it to a 600$ camera with a 200$ lens is pushing it a bit. Like someone said, unless you are planning on viewing the raw footage on a 50" in screen, image quality(seen by the human eye) will be exactly the same as any camera you can get your hands on when put on a computer and put on the internet. If you look at their website and check out the specs page, they are obviously not afraid to reveal the capabilities of the new HD Hero. With that, I am pre ordering very soon, perfect little camera, I am not doing any professional videoing, just getting footage of my usual jumps so it fits the profile for something I want. I mean 300$ or over a grand? lol Also...I know the recommended jump number to fly camera, and am fully aware of the sticky topic, so lets leave this to discussion of the camera, and not on who should jump one. -Evo Zoo Crew
  6. Just as a side note....the most dangerous time in a skydiving career is not at 25 jumps, if I remember correctly, its more like at 1000. I could be off, but its def up there in jump numbers. -Evo Zoo Crew

  8. I mean yeah that would def suck, good thing L&B has awesome customer service lol. Anyways, as long as someone has a plan for if the digital goes out(as should any jumper if their altimeter goes out) they should be fine. If my digital goes out in the middle of a jump, my procedure is to back off what I am doing, wave off to the group, do a barrel roll, and pull. As long as you are keeping good altitude awareness, their should be no problem, and for landing, I dont look at my altimeter after about 300 ft so it doesn't matter.

  11. I don't know much about the Red Bull team, but since when did cutting down a few trees become a crime? I could understand if they were in a neighborhood or something, but from the looks of it, its a huge forest I guess we should stop using writing paper and owning wood furniture too? lol -Evo Zoo Crew

  13. Pretty cool idea, all though I don't know how practical. How precise can someone really be on their ass? Also, someone might need a very good set of core muscles to hold themselves in the appropriate lean and or sit to plane out right. I dunno, maybe this could become a common thing, I just don't see it, for the simple reason that humans are known for their hands to do precise work, not our asses or legs. -Evo Zoo Crew

  16. Wouldn't it be kind of a big step for a beginner to be loading a sabre 2 at 1.0? Just because it is slightly tapered? I dunno, I just thought I heard that somewhere, and a reason I steered away from it as my first canopy. To the OP, I am jumping a Spectre 170 loaded at 1.07. I love this canopy, even though I can't compare it to anything besides the student gear, I don't have to much problem getting back from semi long spots. The flare is good, but I am still learning to perfect it. The openings are very soft, but I find very hard to control during the packing process, I almost always open off heading a bit, but I am getting better at packing it to avoid this. Oh well, I will just emphasize my physical experience, and hope it shuts them up. It was just so frustrating to hear them all agree about something that i KNOW is not true, but can't explain.   19. Ok so I have a question about skydiving in terms of physics. I am in a physics class and today we got into the idea of freefall. In our class we are assuming that every calculation we do is absent of air resistance, just because air resistance contains to many variables and could be a class of its own. Well today, everyone in my class, including the teacher and I agreed that a 120lb skydiver and a 210lb skydiver, in the absence of air resistance, would impact the earth at exactly the same time assuming they exited at exactly the same height and time. Well then the subject moved into a discussion INCLUDING air resistance, and terminal velocities. The entire class and teacher all agreed together that a smaller person when compared to a bigger person would fall faster than a bigger person and without a parachute would impact the Earth first. Now this is where I got quite confused and asked mathematically how that would work, and explained that I AM a skydiver, and what they are saying goes against every physical experience I have encountered so far. The teacher said he didn't have time and left, but the class insisted to me that a smaller person would impact first. I had no way to justify my reasoning behind the bigger person falling faster, just told them that small people in skydiving wear weights to go as fast as big people, and conversely bigger people wear baggier jumpsuits to increase drag thereby slowing them down. Can any one mathematically prove that a heavier skydiver has a faster terminal velocity than a smaller one presenting the same surface area? Zoo Crew

Along with the reason of travel, getting my A license was a way to jump with other people...I don't know if it is a USPA reg, but I think without a license you are only suppose to jump with an instructor or D license holder, I could be wrong though, but anyways, that is why I wanted mine right away, and I am glad I did. If I would have shown up to some of the boogies ive been to without a license , there is no way I wouldve been able to participate in those bigger jumps, biggest being a 23 way. But, I guess as long as your DZ is being cool about it and your having fun, screw it haha. -Evo Zoo Crew

  22. I heart tracking. On that note, grab yourself a jumpsuit with booties and learn how to master those puppies to get you tracking fast and efficient. There is a noticeable difference, and even with my jump numbers I have been able to keep up on every tracking dive ive been on.(only 6 but still! lol) -Evo Zoo Crew

  24. Ive had people fly past me before too, not very close to me, but ive been able to see them fall past me. I think it's because of the way loads are organized, aka not by opening height, but by discipline. A few of the DZ's I have been do biggest RW group to smallest RW, than biggest FF to smallest FF, then AFF, Tandems, and CRW. It might just so happen that someone on the 3 way climbing out after your 4 or 5 way may be opening lower than you Just a guess as to why you see this happening, but I imagine as long as a good 5-6 seconds is kept between groups, you don't have to much to worry about.   25. I don't think I would have tried to land it with both brakes stowed, I just don't know how much lift to expect with brakes stowed to land safely. I have on the other hand, unfortunately had a toggle knot up when I released them, put me in a VERY slow left turn, after trying to fix it, I decided it was slow enough to land, and held the right toggle against the rear riser down enough to fly straight and landed with rears to a tip toe landing -Evo Zoo Crew
