  1. Its like I always told people when I lived in FL. "I live in a vacation spot, shit I live an hour away from the most visited attraction in the world! Why would I ever leave to a place that advertises on TV, about my home!?" Zoo Crew
  2. Im from Tampa, Army moved me to Killeen for a while and now I am in DC. I will tell you this, SD Temple is awesome, Austin TX is ok...and all the rest of Texas? No thank you. As soon as I am out of the military I plan on moving back home. id say go to FL, awesome awesome place, decent surf, tons of DZ's and like you said, laid back. -Evo Zoo Crew

  6. Congrats! Its awesome being on your own, but focus on getting your A card filled out! Before you know it you'll be at 30 jumps and still doing solos! Jumping with other people is where its at! haha. As far as your canopy, the general rule, or so as I am told, is a 1:1 ratio when you buy your first gear. That is what I went off of and bought a 170 with an exit weight of 177. I love it, but I would suggest talking to your instructors about it more, they are the ones that have watched you progress. Again Congrats! -Evo Zoo Crew
  7. I had the same problem when I first started. First, your thighs are not used to that kind of beating, its not often they are tugged in a manner like that, so it does take some getting used to. It'll hurt for a while, and then you won't notice it much at all. Second, do not loosen your leg straps, loosening them will make the opening more rough for your legs, keep them tight and let your thighs get used to it. Third, Under Canopy, once you've checked that your canopy is there, its square and its steerable, you can try lifting up one leg at a time and sliding the leg strap down a few inches on your leg, this will put you more in a sit, rather than a hang, and is MUCH more comfortable during the canopy ride. Of course before you do any of this, talk to your instructor about it, and make sure they are cool with you taking your focus off of steering for a few seconds to make the ride more enjoyable. 8. Accuracy seems to be a recurring topic, both from their operations cell and everyone else that has been affiliated with the knights. That is what I am focusing on right now, with some individual instruction and practice. The military bearing and things affiliated with the military have come to me naturally, but as always can improve. By next year I will be a Sergeant, and hopefully will have boosted my jump numbers enough to try out. I guess I have made this a new personal goal, so it'll be an interesting year. Thanks to you guys who gave me advice, and abstained from sending me demeaning messages because you did not receive said thanks. Blue Skies -Evo Zoo Crew
  9. All depends on how well you fly that student 200. If you are having problems with creating a good consistent landing pattern, landing accurately and standing up the landing, then you may want to stick with the bigger canopy. Like the other guy said though, your instructor will know what you can handle, he/she has seen you progress. With that said, I went from a student rig with a Skymaster 200 in it to a Spectre 170 with an exit weight of 177. It all depends on how you fly the bigger one. -Evo Zoo Crew
  10. Section 4, Category A, Topic G, Line D. To untwist the lines, spread the risers and kick, but release the brakes only after clearing the twist. Straight from the SIM. Zoo Crew
  11. OH FML. Im broke thos weekend Zoo Crew
  12. I am wondering if anyone on these forums have been on the Golden Knights Team? And if so, what advice would you give someone trying to be ready for try outs next year? I already contacted the operations department and got some info, 150 jumps, accuracy is key, focus on RW, public speaking, team skills etc... but on a personal level, what about the tryouts was the toughest? What would you recommend doing now, to greater improve my chances later? I have a whole year to increase my jump number and train specifically for this(Means no FF). Any advice would be awesome. -Evo Zoo Crew
  13. I did, until my cutaway...really without the slider stoppers at the top of the risers I dont think there would have been a problem. I have a couple loops now lower on the riser I stow the loop through. Only reason I had a problem was because of those stoppers, the loop got caught on the corner of one and knotted up. Ya live you learn Zoo Crew
  14. I bought a viso at jump 30 and havn't looked back since. No guessing what altitude you are at, just a quick easy glance for an exact altitude. Plus the logging feature is extremely useful, especially when you start jumping 5-6 times a day. -Evo Zoo Crew
  15. Do your risers have little hammer head stoppers for the slider to stop? My first cutaway was caused when I unstowed my brakes and the brake line caught and tied into the soft link at that point, slow turn on opening, and faster turn when I unstowed the brakes. If you are stowing your brakes by pulling the loop through the soft link and back down to the toggle with those stoppers, this will more than likely happen again. I talked to my rigger and he fixed the problem. Hope it helps -Evo Zoo Crew
  16. Im with ya man, there are so many aspects of the sport and so much to learn it can seem very overwhelming. Id say pinpoint what discipline of the sport really gets a smile on your face, and continue from there by talking to someone a bit more experienced in it and jumping with them. Practice makes perfect! -Evo Zoo Crew
  17. Sup everyone, I am making a trip back home to Tampa and want to stop by the wind tunnel in Orlando. Any one else in the area wanna meet up and split the tunnel time cost? Ill be in Tampa nearly all of next week. let me know! Cya at Z hills on the other days! -Evo Zoo Crew
  18. I would agree with 3 max. When I was going through AFF I did 3 levels in one day, and at the end of the day, was more exhausted than I had been in forever. Its a new experience, your emotions are running wild, the adrenaline is coming and going, its an exhausting experience. -Evo Zoo Crew
