Combat veteran with "infidel" tattoo asked to leave Florida DZ
ianmdrennan replied to shattenjager's topic in Speakers Corner
How so? The DZO never asked them to leave. At first I was outraged, but as more details have come to light it seems the vet wasn't entirely honest about the way the situation developed. Performance Designs Factory Team -
Landing Patterns - altitude to begin each leg
ianmdrennan replied to vanessalh's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I have a pretty good idea before I even get in the plane. I use AWAS, sites like www.ryancarlton.com, etc to get a good idea of wind direction and strength. Certainly not infalible, but I'm not going in blind. I'd expect EVERY jumper to do this. Then, on the jump, and ride to altitude, I'm constantly assessing what I expect (from the above) with what is really happening and making appropriate adjustments. That said, as the poster above me mentions - it's very fluid. You have to understand and react to the environment you're in. Unfortunately it's near impossible to react when you don't have a good understanding of 'static utopia' -
Mine is almost gone. Okay, it's almost gone on purpose! Actually, it is the "almost" that rates the , and that it isn't totally gone yet. Which is why it's being removed. It was a good graphic, but my skin doesn't seem to heal well. Both of my tattoos ended up looking really bad. Since neither really had any meaning for me, and I enjoyed them less after 20 years, I started having them removed. The one on my chest is coming off much easier than the one on my wrist (stupid green). BTW, speaking of nice tattoos -- Ian, that phoenix is beautiful! Amstalder: if you think it hurts going on, try getting one taken off! Understandable. And thanks for the compliment

Never heard of it Dave, but I don;t have TV anyway (Only netflix)

Awesome! I love tattoo's on woman. My fav is, surprisingly, chest pieces (and not in a crude way) - I legitimately like them. My least fav is the "tramp stamp"

Never be ashamed of doing a hop n pop, and never take crap for doing one

No. They are simply happy to not be near you. It's the Ronald McDonald shoes he wears....they really don't do anything for him except make people want to biggie size fries...... Performance Designs Factory Team

Side/chest piece (Prior to sleeve on other arm) And the first part of the sleeve that was done later (no picks of the full sleeve yet). The sleeve is entirely freehanded - I never know what he's going to do :) Performance Designs Factory Team

A black and white biomechanical full sleeve and chestpiece dedicated to close friends and family I've lost (dates and symbols meaningful to them intertwined) A phoenix piece on my side and around my right chest when life took a turn for the better

It is an inevitability of swooping. I don't know a single pilot (in the top groups) who hasn't skipped at least once. It's why I really only like to swoop over water. Not because water will save me from a detonation (it wont) but minor 'skips' end up being a bruised ego most of the time. The best advice I can give is: Don't take it lightly. Yeah, seriously. It's tough to tell from the scattered news reports but it doesn't add up. Of course it's entirely possible it does (we had a house robbery years ago that was very very strange but all on the up and up so I guess you never know). Performance Designs Factory Team

They're overpriced and not worth it? Sorry, I own a Macbook Pro, an iPad, and an iPhone. The only one I found to be worth it is the iPad. The iPhone certainly paved the way for smart phones but they've fallen behind IMO, and the Macbook line....don't even get me started on those overpriced machines... Performance Designs Factory Team

No surprise there. They're as arrogant as M$ was years ago and didn't learn any of M$ lessons so they're doomed to repeat the same mistakes. Performance Designs Factory Team

I disagree with you here. Windows 8 is a great OS in the sense that it was a very necessary step for MS to take to move away from their old UI. There was no way MS could break out of the corner without doing this. It's far from perfect, but it's rock solid (just as solid as win 7 I've found......basically it's no Vista!). Do I recommend the upgrade? Not really unless you have a touchscreen, but I wouldn't shy away from it as an option that comes with a machine. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
