  1. Troll... or...Read about ya in the incidents forum soon I guess.
  2. I did a hop and pop from about 2k because of low cloud cover the pilot said we could jump or land with him. I had a PC in tow down to about 1200 ft, didn't want to dump the reserve for fear of a wrap, but was ready to, with my hand on the RC. Finally came out, I decided no more hop & pops from that low.
  3. Sounds like you had a blast, stay on that Manta though!
  4. I'll never forget my first trip to a DZ. After the class I was watching the guys come flying in so cool, I thought I have to do that. That was 1983, they were flying stratoclouds. I can only imagine how a first timer looks at some cool swoop and thinks the same thing...wow I wanna do that. Now there's a lot higher price to pay, years of jumping and training and some are just too impatient to understand the consequences of rushing it.
  5. I would envision more of a lay down toboggan, or like those plastic crazy carpet things that would keep you laying down until lift off, for sure it could be done, and quite safely. Maybe build two plastic runners into the front of the suit that you could steer a bit with elbows tucked in, then spread for takeoff..or maybe some snowboard type design you could lay down and steer by shifting. A whole new fun sport, although hard to arrange a place to do it for 99% or us.
  6. This doesn't surprise me. After people have been cheering them and in awe of their skills, they're in the zone...they can do what ever they want, they are skygods! Praise them.
  7. I did a jump on the NS of Oahu, it was one of the most beautiful places ever to jump, the Pacific and the mountains. I think they needed a B too. I also went gliding there, that was well worth the price too.
  8. That sounds pretty fun! I'd imagine the team with the best "rookie" would win most of the time. Enjoy!
  9. I'd agree with the concept but still. most RW or FFers want to swoop after their jump too, so I still think separate landing area should be enough if people are extremely cautious, and dangerous fliers called out. Still, I could see a non swooper not being too happy with that these days, and rightfully so. It may come to this I guess.
  10. Docpop, nobody is going to seriously listen to anything you say. With 250 jumps, you are a novice. Hope you get the chance to look back at yourself if you make it to 2000 jumps or so, you will see what a fool you are/were.
  11. What about not making smart decisions about their canopy choice?
  12. CRW is certainly fun. I had many great downplanes back in the day, haven't touched a canopy while flying for years though. I think with the gear back then anybody could stack with anyone, now it's too specialized.
  13. F*** YEAH! In other news: Donald Trump demands Osama's death certificate.
  14. That should be in a Bond 007 movie.
  15. Welcome! yeah skydiving is great, those first 50 or so jumps are really special. I've jumped in Oahu, spectacular! It's quite a drive from Honolulu though, but such a nice drive it doesn't matter. I wish I was moving to Hawaii, I live in the Caribbean anyways though, so it's ok. Stay safe!
  16. The next step would be to get a Parafoil 252 and land in full brakes. Seriously though, you probably won't get much more speed than you are getting now, stay safe.
  17. (hangs head in shame) I was laughing to myself about that, how often can you play those words? You are cooool though. Again - enjoy your jumps!
  18. I don't think you have to put the word female in front of lesbian. Welcome, you have a great attitude and nice smile. I wouldn't mind seeing your face on my load.... Stay Safe!!!!!! VV.. yes, I edited my post.
  19. I really don't think this should be an issue for those learning to have to avoid D licence jumpers...unfortunately it seems it is!
  20. Interesting, canopies will evolve a lot in the next few years I think. Jalbert would be pretty impressed by today's canopies performance, still I'm pretty impressed with Jalbert's original brilliant design! EDIT: That sunshine looks pretty cool, be great to have even less lines
  21. Yes, thanks. That is exactly what I was trying to say. I wasn't referring to this incident specifically and should have made that clearer, I meant no disrespect.
  22. Start windsurfing or kiting, If it's windy I go to the Water and take advantage...plus it's free. edit, just noticed you only have 10 jumps, was it you that just did your first solo? Anyways hope it co-operates next time
  23. Well what I was saying is that at least 1 pilot is usually at fault, likely trying to impress. In collisions there is often 1 totally innocent victim, which is why I find these kind of fatalities so disturbing. Just because you have a car that can go 170 mph, should you be allowed to dirve like a madman and possibly kill some innocent person? Sure, on a race track maybe. Just like if you take your own pass you can do whatever you want under canopy. I'm all for getting a rush, just think it is messed up when you can be at 200 ft on a straight approach and still be in danger from above from some persons ego.
  24. This to me sums up pretty much every HP landing/collision fatality.
