  1. You should carry a hook knife, it may have sorted out your problem with a lot less drama
  2. I enjoyed the vid, you seem to be progressing with optimism. At your rate I can see you base wingsuit prox jumping pretty soon and posting cool vids. Nice job on the base landings by the way. Careful though, maybe making that vid pushes you to progress a bit faster than a non documented progression would. It only takes one mistake...and seriously, you have very little experience, a fact shown by your jump numbers.
  3. yeah I did a night jump 2 way once with a guy and he kissed me lol! gay.... It was weird
  4. Misrouted, too long a closing loop, worn velcro, makes me wonder about the rest of the rig. Personally I could never imagine making that packing error. For sure, check and maintain you gear as if your life depends on it.
  5. I'd imagine right now there's people out there that would pay $10,000+ for a ride, so it will probably happen eventually, when things evolve to that point. Not any time soon I hope!
  6. I think competing is quite new in WB proximity flying, not sure it's a good mix to be honest
  7. yeah, I guess those screen grabs show they are pretty close. I agree it wasn't ideal, but hey, this is skydiving. 8 people below you at break off will always have some possibility of jumpers nearby or below you if you mal. As for trying to clear it so long, he had the altitude, safer to not chop if you can get it clear, at least he knew when to stop trying, seemed to me like they were pretty aware of alt.
  8. Meh, as seen so many times on this forum, it's not about time, but altitude. Seems like he still had plenty when he chopped, as for the person below, could have been far enough away, it's hard to tell from a camera where they actually were....and even so, what is he supposed to do then, he's at the point where he has to chop now, he did. Ideally he should have chopped sooner, by I didn't see much wrong with his actions other than maybe not looking down while trying to get the twists out, again if he was over someone, not much he could do then either.
  9. They are only necessary with standard focal length lenses, almost everyone uses wide or fisheye, where they aren't needed. People should shoot more with 35-50mm, they'd be a lot different
  10. Probably a good thing you were not able to pull the cutaway
  11. That link with the real wingless landing was great
  12. ^that makes sense, you know all that without even watching? ...I'm impressed
  13. Yeah me too, like when you hear the click as the wing breaks and the blurry bits, but if it's fake it was a great job! Edit: also why the camera guy didn't run like hell. But....watching his rudder work freeze frame when he lands, look legit. Need some pilots to chime in on this one There's another click noise near the start, so that could be something else I guess
  14. I thought it was fake, but wat? May have to be signed into FB to se it https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10150093357507761&set=vb.716992760&type=2&theater
  15. Everybody in such a hurry to downsize. I'd say no you are not ready, looking at your jump numbers. I also think Brian's chart is a bit on the too early side anyways
  16. Not the right attitude IMO, You have no experience and a ACL operation...and want a smaller canopy to be cooler? Why everyone wants the smallest canopy these days is disturbing. Get a few hundred jumps before you even think about that stuff...applies to all of you noobs
  17. Some amazing work by this pilot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVJxeU6inWA
  18. I take it back...the firmware update seems to work as it charges normally again and seems to be working ok for now...
  19. Updated the firmware, seemed to go well, turned it off and it won't turn on at all now, only a red light when its plugged in. What a piece of crap
  20. Thanks, just did that, seemed to fire up fine but almost dead, so then turned it off again and plugged into the usb, just the red light is on...( no battery charging in the window, is that normal?) I'll see later if it charges...hope so, I have some stuff to shoot asap..cheers! EDIT: nope, was charging for 3 hrs and only 1 bar, battery isn't warm either...shitttt so when it's on and I plug it in, the usb transfer icon comes up, and the battery symbol moves bars like it's charging, but no red light unless I turn it off...is that normal?
  21. Hi, a few weeks ago I got a used Hero2, seems to crash a lot but the main problem is the batteries won't charge using the USB (all I have) I read a few threads in here and tried some stuff like removing the card/battery, then it fires up but the battery is dead. So the battery ind comes on the screen moving bars like it's charging, the battery gets hot, but the red light won't come on. Then if I turn it off, the red light comes on but there is no indicator in the window for battery. I have 2 batteries, same with both, so I doubt the battery is bad. Any thoughts what to try from you experts would be great, thanks. Also how long should it take to charge...it was on all night and only 1 bar.
  22. I bought my rig before I did my AFF, recommended by my instructor. Saved me money and I did the AFF with my own rig, so it was a good plan IMO, also kept me committed. Just make sure you get good advice n what you buy, as you are trying to do.
