  1. ok...but I was serious, I wanna see one swooped
  2. You did the right thing as you were unhurt, but I had broken steering lines once on an old F111 210 or so years ago, it flew stable, I checked I could turn and flare with rears, so I kept it, had an uneventful landing. I had about 150 jumps at the time. Just thought, why cutaway something that I knew 100% I could land fairly safely, and the spot was good. As much as we all hate to admit it, or how rare it is...reserves can fail. Edit: I'd probably do the same in identical circumstances today, not saying it's the right thing to do though, just me.
  3. Just my little rant... Why does everyone on this forum quote a huge wall of text for no reason? You could at least cut what is irrelevant. This leads to pages of the same thing over and over....yes I read it already thanks. Use the reply button or edit the quote if it's huge...how hard is that? It really would make this place easier to read a whole thread. Anyone else ever feel like this or do you love using the quote button? InB4 someone quotes me
  4. Congrats! Now I doubt you'll want to land with the plane again...ever! You have so much to look forward to in this sport, enjoy!
  5. I read recently that there is a direct link to intelligence and the wish to have children, especially with women. Seems lower intelligence leads to having more children, the highest leads to having none. Doesn't make too much sense as a continuing the species point of view, but I have to agree, so...TS is smart.
  6. Someone should try attaching the pilot chute near the hand so you could dump with the wings out or something, I don't wingsuit, but watching the base vids it seems like a good idea to me?
  7. Thanks for the link. I didn't know about Peter either, sigh.
  8. Passed in Toronto, he was 51. Member of the Canadian 4 way team Glowsticks, avid BASE jumper and Rush fan. I knew him since we were 10 years old, we started jumping the same time on T10s, had some great times over the years, he was always a fixture at the old PST. My first hookup 2 way was with him I remember our weekly jam sessions in his basement, I may have a cassette of some back in Canada, hope so. Blue skies Buddy
  9. Looks nice. So this is the first suit you've flown? I see you have a lot of base, how many with a wingsuit and also how many skydives, just curious?
  10. I don't smoke or like the smell of smoke around me, but I really think it's a stretch to think someone smoking near you is any worse than the car aheads exhaust fumes, or any of the other crap in the air, so it doesn't bother me unless I have a cold or something.
  11. That was great, sorry to bump, just had to say!
  12. $600 is pretty much the price, well worth it IMO for the experience and memories.
  13. OMG led...you are sooooooooooo cool, my GF is getting wet Damn, I got trolled, you keep bumping this thread just to state how cool you are again. Some of us will probably resume this conversation later this summer in the incidents forum if you're not trollin but for now I'd say /thread
  14. oh yeah, that brings back some fond memories...cheers! Almost forgot about my Wonderhog. Skydivers used to be more fun, less attitude. Man I can't believe we used to wear those cut off jeans right up to our asses.
  15. yeah, us dinosaurs are really set on giving bad advise and really have no idea about swooping, downsizing etc. like you young guns. "Learn it well", well to learn is to make mistakes, hopefully not bad ones, but push the odds if you wish. This I'm cooler than I really am attitude is OK with me if you do your own pass, good luck anyways.
  16. My hardest opening ever was on a 7 cell F111, I think maybe a Cruiselite or similar. It was borrowed gear that I didn't pack, throw out, racer, 80's gear. I almost lost consciousness, before AADs were popular. So I would imagine any canopy/line type has the potential to cause fatal injury. I think looking into a shock absorbing system would be well worth the effort, no matter how rare. I'm sure most people here have had at least one cracker where they saw stars.
  17. I was using one windsurfing today, even for that it was a distraction, I looked forward to dropping it back at the beach and enjoying my session more without it.
  18. You'd think someone could develop one that is smarter really
  19. You're in luck, most of my videos are not on Youtube, but that one is: youtubes link That looks fun. I think I'd like puffy clouds more than anything, even base.

    New Harley!

I love bikes, never had a Harley though you should watch SP more
  21. I'd like to go someday, anyone know how much a jump costs in US$? like a 12k or so
  22. I'd say he's on a way better position than someone with 200 jumps. He;s done lots of swooping, still on a pretty advanced canopy for the day and is uninjured, it's like riding a bike. That being said, any new canopy has to be treated with caution even when your current and have thousands of jumps. I'd say something like the Saber2 150 would be great for you. It's fun and capable with reasonable openings, people shouldn't look at you like some noob because you jump a 150.
