  4. Good to hear theres no nerve damage. Ive did the same thing in May last year, spent 17 days in hospital and got a chunk taken out of my hip and put in the spine and a couple of rods too...plus a back brace for 4 months. Still not meant to be jumping, but I gave in to temptation in December and been jumping since. Get to see my Doc in a week, he's not gonna be a happy camper if he finds out ive been jumping again
  5. 13th Step - A Perfect Circle- awesome album!
  6. Ah sorry... i must of missed somthing but I've never pushed any of my religious beliefs (or lack of) on anyone unlike others....
  7. *YAWN* You believe what you want to believe, thats fine by me. but dont start pushing your beliefs on other people!
  8. I remember a packer at my DZ said he has changed Cypres batteries at their 2 year interval where the new batteries actually had a lower voltage then the ones being replaced... work that one out!
  9. Whatever hes having I want it.....must be some good shit!
  10. Well im guessing that due to the shallow AOA that means most biff ins invlove a lot of horizontal movement but not much vertical? If thats the case then I might be right to do it because the major worry for me is hitting with a high vertical speed (especially if I hit with my arse and the force goes straight up my spine)
  11. Sorry one more question (really should of thought about this before I posted)... I busted my back last May, got metal in me..not meant to be jumping at all for quite a while but been jumping since December anyway (what do docs know anyway hehe) and havent had the slighest problem yet, but this is because all my landings have been pretty good. So what is landing a PG like? is it comparable to a skydiving canopy? Or am I likely to biff in the first few times? Cheers
  12. Crushed L1 vertabrea from dumb low turn, spent 16 days in hospital, 3 hour surgury to put in 2 rods and 4 screws and to take a chunk out of my hip to rebuild the spine. Overall I spent $54 for TV hire while in hospital (who would of though anyone can get sick of Jerry Springer? ), $39 for pain killers once I got back home. After that I spent a bit over $100 for hire on stuff like special chairs, device to help me get into bed (which I never bothered with) but got over $80 back after I returned it. Thats about all I paid I think. I have private insurance but did'nt tell them that cause the way it works here (Aus) I still would of got the same hospital, surgeon etc (might of got a better room) but would of had to fork out $1000 excess. I only spent a month off work (only casual work) and didnt spend a cent on the surgury itself and did most of the physio myself. Sorry I know you wanted to scare people about all the extra costs invlolved in injuries but I got lucky I guess...just glad I busted myself up here and not in the US! Though gotta say although I did'nt spend much at all the pain I went through made up for it
  13. Thnkas for the repsonses fellas. ot another question though... Has anyone seen Soul Flyers? There is a bit of paragliding in that abd there are a few scenes where they take off down a shallow hill with 3-4 people on it, I think 2 were sitting up and one was carabineered (SP?) off the bottom. Is that a special type of canopy/harness or can you just use a regular one? Cheers
  14. OK sorry if this is OT but did'nt want it lost in Talk Back... I've had an offer to do a paragliding course, it's cheaper then normal because they are running it for B licensed skydivers and hang glider pilots, so Im guessing they can skip a fair bit of the theory. Anyway just wondering who has done this before? Can it get boring after a while compared to skydiving? Is it worth forking out extra $$$ for it etc? The course is around $500 which aint cheap so I dont want to do it and find I dont want to continue (have though about an intro lesson but thats another $200) Cheers
  15. I always get reminded of skydiving usually by certain smells...get a whiff of petrol when filling up the car always reminds me of the smell of Jet-A1 fuel
  16. Fail AFF Stage 6 3 times ( turns) I would either not put enough effort in for the turn or too much and spin up. The rest of the stages were sweet I wont even mention when I did SL a few years back... I did about 20 jumps and think failed more then I passed
  17. Dont take Dave's post so seriously, you can believe whatever you want but from the sound of it you are trying to push yours beliefs on others...
  18. How do u know its a him?..havent you ever seen Dogma?
  19. Already been done.... http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=253892;search_string=you%20know%20your%20a%20skydiver%20when;#253892 Sorry CrazyIvan you're too slow mate! Still good to go through those again, they always crack me up!
  20. Depends really, if I do a weekend of shit or average jumps (luckily that doesnt happen too often anymore!) then I'll get end up going over and over it trying to wonder where I went wrong. If they were shit jumps due to other peoples fault then i'll just grizzle about waste all that money . Though if I ended up doing at least one or two good jumps then I usally dont worry about the rest that much.
  21. Damn sorry to hear that, whata bitch. Any one know what the cause of the fire was?
  22. Well you dont have to worry about shit pack jobs anymore since you're a whuffo now Stop being a slacker and come down and do a jump again!

    Soul Flyers DVD

40 Euros? that doesnt sound right! I ordered mine from www.flyyourbody.com and Im sure I was only charged a nominal amount for shipping...i think it was only like $5 or so. I have the PAL version and also have some problems with clipping on the subtitles, but its only noticable on letters like j and g where the bottom part gets cut, so it aint worth worrying about it. Good movie though, goes a little flat occasionly, but its worth it for the wingsuit stuff
  24. OK going from memory here so might eb a bit off.... [On the way to Itchy and Scratchy land in a chopper] Pilot: Welcome to Itchy and Scratchy land where nothing can possably go wrong....er.... I mean possibly...thats the first thing that has ever gone wrong"
