  1. Not any more, it was sold off a while ago due to lack of use It was a good plane but I believe it did have structural issues with the tailplane (we had a newspaper article taped to the back of the fuselage of a Nomad that had it's tailplane ripped off in flight)
  2. My reserve is packed by an 18 year old...doesn't worry me

  5. Hey guys, last Friday a group of 40 of us did a demo jump into Avalon airshow in Australia from a Spartan C-27J, the Italian aircrew told us we were the first people to ever jump out of a Spartan in the world...now I'd believe we were the first down under to do it, but I'm not too sure about being first in the world (though that would be very cool ). So I'm just wondering if anyone out there has jumped one of these before? Cheers
  6. Q. What do you call an Ethiopian woman with a yeast infection? A. A quarter-pounder with cheese
  7. Hi guys, I have recently completed setting up a camera setup (cookie helmet with HC32and a .45 lens on side and Pentax MZ50 w/24mm lens on top) and start filming some tandems. Now I have been two different stories with regards to the orientation of the stills cameras. First one is that the stills camera should be pointed slightly to the left (the side the vid camera is on) and calibrated so that when looking through the ring sight it should be correctly centered at whatever distance Ill be filming tandem from (say 1-2 meters). This means that when im in the right position both films and stills should come out nicely but if im too close or too far they will not match up perfectly. The second one is that the stills should just both point directly forward, in this case the subject may not be perfectly centered, but the wide angle lens should cover any offset the stills has compared to the ringsight/vid camera. What is the best way to go? Cheers
  8. ditto, it is a great book but tends to focus on paragliders a bit more but apart from the thermal/turbs sections it also explains a lot of macro-meteorology as well which is great for forecasting and very interesting (well for me anyway
  9. Man you must be bored to trawl through threads that are three years old!
  10. Nah no luck finding any 100 series anywhere (ebay or retail). I might try a local cash converters store though...
  11. I'm looking at a reasonably cheap camera setup - mainly for tandem/general use. I have decided to stick with Sony but considering they no longer make cams with a LANC port I am finding it a pain to source an older model however I have found a HC-32 slightly used on ebay for $300(AU) but there are a few days left on the auction so I'm guessing it will go for around $400. Otherwise a local shop is clearing out a HC42 for $691(AU). The main difference between the two is the CCD size; the 32 has a 1/6' CCD with 680k pixels and the 42 has a 1/5.5' CCD with 1070k pixels. Does the extra size of the CCD make any noticeable difference in the real world? If so what do you think about forking out the extra $$$ for the H-42? Cheers Mick
  12. Wasn't it Josef Stalin who said "One death is a tragedy but 1 million deaths is a statistic"? I guess that applies here somewhat...

    Formating HD

hmm might be a BIOS thing then? I think the BIOS on older compters generally can only support up to a certain size. If it's an older computer maybe try upgrading the BIOS to a newer version?

You need to enable 48bit Logical Block Addressing but that should be done by default in SP1 try this.... http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;303013&Product=winxp
  15. it depends on the context really, if it is used in "he's a bloody idiot" it can loosly equate to 'fucking', but if used in "the price is bloody outrageous!" then you could translate it to the word 'very' Either way you Pom and Canuck blokes are missing out, the ad campaign is worth it just for the girl in the bikini...sigh
  16. don't wear dailies for more then two days then try to take them out in the middle of the night when drunk after they have just about glued themselves to your eyes due to the lack of moisture...trust me it hurts! ...or so I heard
  17. how long did it take you to switch between chords while strumming whithout any noticeable break in the sound/rhythm? I have only started playing (accoustic) and have been practicing chords like G, C, D and while i dont have a problem getting a 'clean' sound from them, I take way too much time switching between chords as I cant to move my fingers to the correct frets all at once when switching. I have only been playing for a few weeks and havent been spending as much time as I'd like practicing but I cant see any improvement lately...
  18. I recently got a I4 with a 150 main/reserve and had the same problem with 3/4 inch seperation of the grommets on the 3 and 4th flap, if i shortened the closing loop any tighter I couldnt get it closed at all. Eventually though I was able to shorten it and after 5-6 jumps on it I found it much easier to pack. The most important thing is to get as much of the closing loop through the first grommet as possible, then the reset is easy IMHO

great band - get the DVD version of their concert Hullabaloo (i think) it's definately worth it I never understood why people think they are a Radiohead rip off, like a previous post said - listen to their previous albums first (they are better anyway) - fav tracks - sunburn, new born, citizen erased, their cover of 'feeling good', stockholme syndrome and thoughts of a dying atheist
  20. You may want to consider flying ultralights instead with the posiblility of converting to your PPL later on. Im not sure what the rules are where you fly but over here down under it takes only 20 hours to get ultralight certified and these hours can be counted towards a PPL. on top of that, they are cheaper to fly and maintain (if you ever buy one), plus the performance on the later generation models can be better then older cessna 152-172 etc Im currently flying a Jabiru - 100kt cruise, 44kt stall, 400mile range
  21. hehe i know the feeling I just got mine last week (no pics as I had to give it up to a rigger to assemble and pack the reserve ) and since I had to rip out my cypres from my old rig I have nothing to jump until it's done. Should be ready to jump by this weekend though
  22. nah Jackass is pretty tame, if you want really fucked up shit, watch Dirty Sanchez its made in the UK i think but is produced by MTV. This show has some trailer trash guy pulling his bare arse along sandpaper then getting his mates to pour salt and vingar in the blleding wound or there's the time where they shave off a guys pubes and put it on a pizza then eat it....

    Titanium Removal

Sorry to hijack (well kinda) but i've got some rods/screws fusing my L1-L3 vertebrae together and they are due to come out pretty soon, has anyone here had a similar operation on their back and noticed much difference with mobility or any extra pain? (its not hurting with them in at the moment)
