So I sign on to DZ.com just now and what do I see on the home page? An ad for 1-800skyride. With all the shit that 1-800 slyride has caused over the last few years why is Dropzone.com advertising for them? This is not the kind of company that DZ.com should be promoting. I can't remember all the weekends I sat on the ground at the DZ watching clouds or the wind sock do it's funky dance. All which ment I wasn't jumping. Take that time and talk to people,instructors, coaches and pick thier brains. They won't mind.( beer always helps). This is a great sport. But what makes it great are the people that give without expecting anything in return to help the next generation of skydivers to excell in the sport and stay alive to enjoy many years of great jumps, great friends, great stories and great memories. You're talking about a bubble machine, which divers and freestyle skiers have been using for years. It usually consists of a pattern of tubes on the bottom of the pool that are connected to a compressed air source and is controlled by the coach( or other staff) to momentarily decrease the water density on impact. It is then turned off til the next diver or jumper. Unfortunately it wouldn't work on the Golden Gate as it would be impossible to build it the entire length of the bridge and have it working 24/7. Not to mention any boat that crossed it would probably sink due to the decreased water density. They work great in a pool. I've trained at the Hall of Fame pool in Ft. Two Weeks later we headed back up to Canada and planned on fishing for a couple weeks. When we got to the border they did a background check on him and found out he had a record. I think most of us have felt to some degree what you are feeling. As long as you are comfortable with the jumps you go on and get some good feedback from the people you jump with, this anxiety should ease. If you have a chance, do a tunnel camp with a good coach. This will help you gain both experience and confidence. I would also recommend reading Brian Germain's books Transending Fear and The Parachute and It's Pilot. There is a wealth of knowledge and coping techniques that will give you a great head start on a long and safe introduction to this great sport. I have several Gatorz and have found that after a while the adhesive does where out. I went to my local hardware store, got a roll of weather stipping and cut it to the correct width and replaced the old rubber foam.
