  1. 4 ; 2 ; 0 actually a pretty good weekend, kinda hard to return to the week... oh well, there is always next weekend "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  2. I will have to agree, on a more general level, however. I've love Perris because that's where I started, that's where I'm comfortable, and I enjoy the people there. However, I recently realized that it's time to test the skies elsewhere so I can become more well rounded. I hope to move out of my comfort zone before the end of the year and make my way to Elsinore, for sure, maybe SD and even Lompoc (to visit some people). I'll give you both a holler when I finally make my way out there. SA I will be at sdsd every weekend indefinately...
  3. just steer clear of the border haha. You have to jump in SD! "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  4. I missed it too! "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  5. OOPS, sheesh I should have known that! well, anywho, it was cool to meet you and I am sure there will be many beers owed and consumed in the future! "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  6. But were they your first in 8 years is the question cuzzz...said beer is always nice after a hard day of jumping outta planes hehe. "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  7. He went up on the same load as Annie and I . Good morning sir! "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  8. actually, I had a film developer tell me that they could not develop some of my photos once, of my 5 month old daughter in the bathtub, due to nudity ?! *shakes head* I always have to remind myself that the reason every thing has to be so regulated is that there are alot of idiots out there......idiots and bad people. "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  9. why give words any power at all? they are just that, words, context is what matters. "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  10. I'm actually going again today! :) yep, you are getting sucked in! Are you going to do AFF? Have an awesome jump, I am a little jealous, I have to wait until tomorrow haha! Blue skies, jess "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  11. I practice OCD in research (of anything) thank goodness though! May 24th, 2008 was my tandem jump, I called every single phone number to every single dropzone internet site.... I apparently had dealings with this skyride (or something similiar) in the process of this research. http://skydivingsandiego.net/ I knew right away when I spoke with this gentleman that something was fishy.... it was very high pressure sales pitches, lines like "they are jacking up the price ANYTIME now because of fuel prices, better get this gift certificate RIGHT now!!" etc... I went with my gut and hung up, called the dropzone and scheduled through them. I have spent way too much time today reading through some of this thread....because at first I really couldn't tell if this "business" is ethical or not, but after all the information I have digested and my own (however slight) dealings with this business I must say that those who justify this behavior as "realism" are part of the problem. This is not realism it is good old fashioned selfishness. (among other things) almost any problem you can think of in the world has roots with selfishness..... I always teach my daughter and those around me, "is it worth winning (or getting rich, even just paying the bills) when you do so at the expense of others and unethically or by cheating?" Each person must answer that on their own, but where is the self satisfaction and happiness when you achieve something through shady means? We are all humans after all, feeling the same pain, joy, fear, hope etc.....and when I see other humans getting hurt, walked on, taken advantage of, I feel compassion.....which is something the world could use more of for certain. I hope this thread does help warn others! I am new to this amazing sport and part of what I learning to love and admire about it is the community that surrounds it. Let's look out for eachother! blue skies jess "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  12. Skydiving is noisy at the initial "sticking your head out of the door" moment, after that I never even notice the noise until my canopy is over my head. I have super sensitive hearing (one of my finer senses I'd say ;) and it hasn't bothered me at all. As for the cold question, you'll be wearing a jump suit for your training and it is colder at altitude but once again, the minute you leave that plane door you shouldn't notice it at all. I live in San Diego so we jump in the winter lol. So funny about the skin question, i was showing my still photos of a recent jump to some whuffo friends and they asked the same question...I don't know the answer, I am only 11 jumps in and my skin is no different! Good luck working on the courage, do a ton of research, buy the SIM, hang out at your local dropzone and ask stupid questions!!!! Fear generally stems from ignorance so knowledge is power! 13. My weekend : 2 : 0 jumps 10 and 11! woot hoot! getting up there now "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  14. i thought it was pretty smooth... "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  15. Welcome! I am learning that in this world of dropzone.com it is ok to dream about skydiving, to relate time to altitude and to decide the day's weather by whether or not you could jump! good luck hitting your target! peace & blue skies jess "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  16. You can do it! Stick with it and good luck to you! blue skies! jess "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  17. I am qualified for category C..... so jumping out of a plane is a pretty damn close second for me... for now anyways. "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  18. AWESOME, reading your post helped me relive my aff1 :)! I am kinda new as well, just graduated last weekend and got my fix doing my first coach jump and my second "solo" solo....so far it is just like everyone keeps saying it only gets better and better! keep rockin' blue skies "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  19. +1 "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  20. reading and research is actually what got me hooked (maybe the tandem jump) but certainly the research. They are a fix, while awaiting the real thing (get the SIM if you know this is what you want) Good news is, when you walk into your AFF FJC you are gonna already know half of what they teach you, they will just solidify that information in your mind. Then you will excel! Good luck to you! Blue skies jess "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  21. So let's see, Lodi is your best bet (as of right now)... You could call them and see what they say...but I wouldn't even call, I would just start to hang out at the DZ, get to know everyone, watch, ask questions, let your interest be known for a couple weeks.... learn everything you can during this time period (as you save your money) and get to know the staff. So whenever you approach them finally, as a 16 year old looking to do AFF, they will take your approach way more seriously if they already know your level of interest / dedication / motivation you are more likely to achieve your goal this way. good luck! i am getting my daughter in the sky by 16 but she has no choice but to do what I have just told you. 22. Perris wind tunnel lets children about the age of 5 begin in the wind tunnel. "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  23. just a funny video for your viewing pleasure, watch it to the end... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiaN5x2dn7k that is actually rare. I jumped six times this weekend with soooo many tandems going up on each load. Sure everyone is a little tense on the climb to altitude (worst nerves for me is at 10,000) on a 13,000 jump run. But the smiles never leave their faces and I have never seen anything but pure joy on their faces after landing! as for peeing your pants, not probable (as falling out of an airplane is more of a clinching reaction physically) but even if you do, it'll be dry by the time you land Worst case scenario, you do this tandem and become a junkie like the rest of us..... now that isn't so bad, or is it? i dunno. Anyways, go for it! life is lived but once and I am sure you will absolutely love it! blue skies jess "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  24. I just graduated on Saturday. Before my level 3 I was flying "legs wide" i was still solid but it was giving me some problems. I studied my arch and dive flow from the SIM. Some things that worked for me a) are you breathing well? or do you feel like you held your breath the whole freefall? I started regulating my breathing by 10,500 when jumping from 13,000 and that helped me breath regularly out of the door this in turn would help relax my arch allowing me to notice my legs. (positive pressure on shins and tops of feet) b) also another trick from the SIM. Everytime I checked my altimeter I went through a mental count "horizon, altimeter, arch, legs, relax" These two things helped me, so hopefully they can help you as well....Keep trying! Good luck! and Blue skies!!! also I did the wind tunnel the weekend before I completed my AFF levels3-7. Not only is it like practice but it is fun too! 25. Skydiving took over my life for the last month....I completed my AFF and had my first "solo" jump on Saturday! I bought the SIM and learned everything I could about this sport...not only did it help me handle my emotions and craving for everything skydiving but it also fine tuned my love and respect for this sport! Plus watching you tube videos helps me get a fix really quick too hahahaha.... Good luck and blue skies! jess "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
