  1. Finally got brave enough here to get rid of television all together, and I still don't have enough time in every day to get it "all" done "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  2. wooooot hoooot! "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  3. smell that?! smells like FUN! "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  4. The challenge! The adrenaline! the smell of jet fuel! the ride to altitude! the view! and it is all I can think about. "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  5. Not at the actual dropzone they do not, in fact I'd call and see if they'll even let you park your trailer out there. no power lines and no running water, generator goes off maybe 9pm? anyways, great for camping out though it is rattlesnake territory "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  6. awww, happy first birthday little one! My little girlie turns one on the 30th! to the OP, sorry your day has been so rough! sometimes life is ALL about perspective hang in there! "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  7. This is the problem right here. If you got your A in 09 and have made 40 or so jumps in the 15 months since then, that's 2 or 3 a month. You are not doing enough to stay current, let alone learn knew skills. Your words say that you are into this sport, but your actions are saying another, you're getting called on it. You are receiving some smart-ass comments from instructors/upjumpers at your DZ because they know you are not into learning to survive in this sport, but just enough to kill yourself or someone around you. I'm not trying to be a wise-ass, just letting you know that the reasons you are not able to get time in the air do not matter, just the result. The people commenting on that fact are trying to motivate you to be there more often. What you should worry about more is when they stop commenting to you, because they have given up. See below. top To the OP, I remember that you and I began skydiving around the same time. Since that time, many many things have happened in my life that has made skydiving take a back seat. I have not lost the passion and not one day goes by that I don't think of my EP's and what I am going to practice under canopy the next chance I get. I lurk on DZ .com all the time just to stay as informed as possible, I dream, I stay in shape etc. My currency at this time is at it's bare minimum, I feel blessed to even have that (On top of life disasters, money problems, husband problems and children I have to drive 4 hours to the nearest dz) but I still do it. Who cares what they think. I do not cuss, don't really party, don't talk about sexual dirtyness etc so many of the skygods at the dz I frequented did not think I was "cool" who cares? lol not me, I know who I am. I love skydiving and I have my priorities in order. One day we will all die, it might not be in a skydiving accident but it will happen. Those that become so obsessed with this sport that they ignore all other aspects of life (truly out of balance) they will grow old one day and they will find that there isn't much there....edited to add, because they never invested anything elsewhere. 8. It is scary, someone very close to me is suffering from this legal poison!!! but marijuana is illegal (( hmmm, i guess cause the consumer can just grow what they want and there is no way to tax it)) but of course that is just my opinion on this subject. www.banoxycontin.com "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  9. I ran away for 11 years, I was younger then. I am now "home" and it feels so good and so right. I had to make some trade ins though to be able to "rest" in this place...( like driving 4 hours to skydive ) But life is all about trade ins, in fact your entire life when it is said and done will be completely built on your decisions. Some of them are small and some are big but ALL of them define the path you'll travel. My justification now, is children. That and now that I'm 30 it is starting to sink in that I will not live forever and I must leave a legacy for my children and their children etc. I remind myself that happiness is a state of mind, having nothing to do with one's life circumstances, so if you are running looking for the elusive "happiness" state of being, then maybe you should stop running and focus on your mental state of being instead of your environment. Some environments foster healthy mentalities and others do not... so once again, it is all about those darn decisions! and where is it exactly you are trying to go?!?! 11. This isn't the first time they have 'shut it down' for political reasons...it's all a dog & pony show, in a month or two when all the hoopla has died down they'll turn it on again. The government doesn't 'run' this highly profitable business...the 'gentleman' in the silk Italian suits with the black Mercedes do. It will be up & running again! Right, something like $40,000 usd for these adoptions to go through.... so yeah, the door will open again and I guess all you can hope for is for these children is that they'll find a loving family . 12. I just recently did a quick research into the "orphan" life in the eastern Europe (namely Russia) countries and what I found is similiar to your firsthand experience. I am blown away by Russia's actions right now, shutting down their adoptions to US families and crying foul to the whole world when they have substandard (way way below standard) care and facilities for their "beloved" orphans. http://www.buzzle.com/articles/russian-babies-have-their-mouths-taped-shut-by-yekaterinburg-hospital-staff.html this is of course just an extreme example but there are many more. Why would Russia not want to find good homes for these children, even if sometimes there is a "bad" apple that harms a child or does something tacky like flying the child back to russia with a note, there are many more who rescue these children from a life with no future. Quit being silly Russia! "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen

  14. I found all the jumpers/staff at this dz to be very friendly and the atmosphere was great. Everyone had a smile. I saw that the tandem instructors spent an amazing amount of time with their students as well as the AFF and coached students. The instruction was very personable and one on one. This is a smaller dz but they did have 2 operating c-182's that looked like they were in great shape (i did not fear the take off :) The rental gear is well maintained and they have a little bit of everything. the landing area, well the elevation is 5,193ft so get ready for a FAST landing. The areas are away from the hangers but the van is there waiting when you land and their student landing is optimal as there are NO OBSTACLES anywhere (as you are in the middle of the high desert)and there are many many outs! I will definitely be visiting this dz again and I recommend it for fun jumpers and students alike.

  17. Thanks! I was looking to find out info on weather, tips, like what time is the best time of day at your landing zone etc? I did have a hard time raising someone on the phone. "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen

  20. 1,000 ways to die! love it love it! just reminds one of how easy it is to take life for granted.... though most of the episodes are exaggerated and reallly do suggest there is a "better" gene pool lol. Life is short no matter what you do, you never know, so live it to its fullest. "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
  21. I am heading to Albuquerque this next weekend (april 10th) I am looking to head down to the dz early sat. morning....maybe a ride? i'd throw in a lil' gas money. Anyways, even if I can't find a ride I'll be there. So hope to hear from some SNM jumpers! "A man only gets in life what he is believing for, nothing more and nothing less" Kenneth Hagen
