  1. I have talked to a lot of people, and I have met more people who adore their Safire than the ones who love their Sabre2. And I don't think I ever met anyone who DID NOT like their Safire. good luck
  2. I don't think we are really arguing here - just trying to discuss the situation. The bottom line is that you cannot waiver negligence, no matter how many pieces of paper were signed, and how many videos were shot.
  3. I would have sent you a PM as a response to yours, but you do not acccept PMs. weird... thank you for sending me the documents. Can you send me anything else you have ? just a disclaimer : I am not an attorney, just someone who likes to argue. I also have met all the defendants (though it has been a number of years, and prior to the incident)
  4. I have no seen any court documents. I am only using the data that you provided (your first post indicated the Inc name). Whois records sometimes go years without being updated. Whatever is listed in in the latest Parachutist was submitted before Dec 31, 2008 I believe you are on a witchhunt. What is your agenda ? Libel ? PS look closely at the contacts page that you link. Are you sure it's the same company name ?
  5. Are you saying that what Aerohio wrote in court documents is not true? If you want, I can email you the court documents. I already quoted the text from those documents. The documents were submitted by Aerohio. Their web site provides no indication that they went out of business on Dec 31, 2008. In fact, it was last edited on 1-6-09. . no. what the court documents say is that "AerOhio Skydiving Center, Inc." is not able to continue doing business. It does not mean that www.aerohio.com is affiliated with them. They could be owned by "Aerohio adventure corp", "Jerry's crash and burn, inc" or any other business
  6. they are early 90s weird looking harnesses. and quite weird looking canopies, with 308 stitched line ends instead of fingertrapped. Nothing that you can use in the sky, trust me, as I bought one :)
  7. Infinities are notorious for having a real tight fit, your rigger will thank you for ordering one size larger
  8. type 17 - usually referred to as mini-risers is what most people want nowadays.
  9. out of curiosity, what are you doing that caused at least 3 cutaways in under 140 jumps ? Perhaps it's a chain of events that lead to the RSL being detrimental in your situation ? Such chain a lot of times has a big presence of human error :)
  10. HUH? The COMPUTER IS NEW. THE SCANNER IS OLD. the SCANNER does not have drivers. For a 4gb ram and a vista 64bitos the computer is way slower than I expected. Supposedly it has a labelflash (lightscribe) drive. But it doesn't work. I bought it brand new at circuit city. lots of things have compatibility issues with 64bit version of Vista. I know it's not helpful, but at least it's partial diagnosis :)
  11. the only guide I know is the UPT one : http://www.unitedparachutetechnologies.com/PDF/Support/Rigging/09114(MainLift).pdf
  12. here's a picture of a particular lineset in question. Personally, I think $400 is a hefty discount to ask for needing a new lineset IN THE FUTURE, as the cost to reline the canopy w/ microline is $300 landed back at your doorstep
  13. Who cares about his weight or the price. A student has no business on a 143 Reserve regardless of wingloading. I apologize, I also missed the part where he indicated how many jumps he had. He lists Student and 1 year in the sport in his profile, but the way I understand many European countries will want you to jump student gear before graduating (just like US). Many countries also clear you for the gear of proper sizes (read Dragon2's posts, you get clearance to jump certain size/aggressivness canopies as you build up jump numbers). In other words there are already people watching over the folks.
  14. I missed where the Teigen indicated his weight - can you point that out to me please ? But more than anything else you never answered his question.
  15. Stan you are correct - except in these cases the scammers request to GET PAID through WU - and like you said, cash in hand, the buyer (in this case a legit person) is screwed. BSBD
  16. I watch other peoples shit, but never touch - just bring it to their attention. I will tuck back in, do pin checks, whatever - but only if asked. the most unsolicited thing I would do would be to lightly pull the chest strap of someone I am jumping with while they see what I am ABOUT to do. I pretty much agree with most posters in this thread - don't touch other peoples shit unless an accident is imminent - just let them know about it.
  17. I believe the gear is more expensive in Europe due to the fact that it gets brought in from overseas and gets duties tacked on to it. (as all the gear you are listing is US Made) In the US market I would call your deal reasonable, but not a steal. In other words it's well below retail and the gear is top brand and good condition.
  18. what is the reserve in it, and is it the same vintage as the container/canopy ?
  19. I don't quite follow you on that. What does that mean? . he means that whatever corporation was doing business as AeroOhio is going to be closed, and a new one will be started to run DBA AerOhio in 2009. Kind of like Precision :) PS the root cause quite obviously being listed on page 71 of this document : http://www.uspa.org/Portals/0/Downloads/Min_BOD_2008_09.pdf
  20. what if they did not have 500 jumps on them in 10 years ? I see that all the time.
  21. Our CI always puts new canopies out low. You got a specific goal to focus on, short ride to altitude, no other distractions and little to no traffic. Perhaps likestojump has another reason, but that's ours. most importantly so he doesn't fuck anyone else up. And all the other reasons you listed.
  22. That would make me suspicious. It's like buying a used car without an odometer in it to verify the mileage. Find out who the rigger was that repacked it for the previous owner, and contact him. His rigger's logbook should contain entries on when and how often it has been repacked. And he might have personal knowledge of that canopy and how often it has been jumped. not sure if you realize this, but it's quite common in used gear market (I am not saying I am ok with it, but it is what it is). Many times I got a used container with the reserve data card still in it, and just as many times I got reserves without data cards. Just one more reason why PD Reserves have a higher percieved value - because they have a data panel on the canopy itself.
  23. data card stays with the reserve. if it's lost, you really can't replace it - just have a new one made at the next repack. get a pack of 50 here for $12: http://www.paragear.com/templates/base_template.asp?group=29#S7310 any rigger has a bunch of them
