  1. I understand the question you are asking, because you keep repeating it Keep in mind there are some of us that would rather make sure you dont have to ask that question in the first place, and the way to do that is to figure shit out up top and not in the basement. Unfortunately I cant answer your question because it is so specific, and potentially deadly, that it depends on the situation and i think you need to speak to an instructor about it. On one hand, if you are spiraling in, and you cant control shit, so you cant land it. On the other hand, you are taught to never cut away under 1000 ft, so if you started an aggressive spiral at 1200ft you would be under 1000 ft in a few seconds. 2. Then you did not do a control ability check. Gentle left turn, gentle right turn and full flare. Exactly. You couldnt have done a full flare if your toggles where still stowed. If you attempted it, and your toggles were stuck to the point that even a full flare didnt clear them, then the canopy would have stalled, or been on the edge of a stall. 3. Not coming down on you, but a controllability check would have made this be a non-issue. "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero

  8. Ahahahaha, it is pretty corny. I can see the intent behind the pic. Getting everyone to do their poses and line up right with the camera to get the correct stacking effect definitely took some planning and talent, unfortunately the end result looks like they are trying out for the village people. 9. Seems pretty cool. It's essentially a powered PG. The mast is actually kind of neat i think, i was wondering how they would launch the wing. Calvin has actually designed a few rigid frames himself for launching PGs and speedwings. I'd be curious to see what he thinks about this new vehicle. 10. Someone got to meet someone they admired and had always wanted to meet and you are going to hate on him for being excited about it? Fook it, i think it's cool. I'd love to meet him myself. Travis seems to have a bad rep in the skydiving community... most likely because he does stunts and everyone likes to armchair quarterback about safety. The guy is a nataural athlete and excels at anything he touches. Well, except base jumping, doesnt seem too good at that "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero
  11. Unless you are worried about getting with someone you would later regret getting with then i recommend going locked and loaded. "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero
  12. We have one at the office and havent had any problems with it. In all honesty though we've probably only made 80 or so cups with it. It's just WAY to expensive per oz of coffee. We calculated that it's very comparable rates to Starbucks when you break it down by oz. 14. Curiously enough, how would you compare the performance of the Shadow VS the P2 in the BASE environment? "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero

  16. I've seen my BASE mentor do it when he had one line twist. He unspun it remarkably fast but it was also a very docile canopy loaded between .6 and .7 "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero
  17. Given a small amount of time and privacy there are a large number of ways you could cause a total and not have it discovered with a simple gear check. 18. LOL, this is funny because ANY incident to any one of these vehicles makes international news. Anyone remember the video of the guy driving one and not paying attention and drives it off the road into the water? There was another incident where a journalist was allowed to test drive one at a track and "tapped" a wall. 19. I know I have seen at least 2 videos, but can only picture one right now, but in both cases the main was still int eh container. In the recent incident, the reserve went over the tail, but then came free leaving the guy with a ball of shit. After fighting it through almost all his altitude he decided to throw his main and fortunately everything worked out. I seem to remember seeing a video though of another person actually stuck on the tail with their reserve, but i have no idea which incident that was or how it ended. 20. I never thought of that possibility. Hmm. If that is reserve, than is the question how big are the chances that the main will still remain in the container during this shake job. That is the exact reason i bought a hook knife. I cant remember what incident it was, but there have been a couple videos of reserves getting stuck on the tail. 21. Ah yeah, that's the one. I got this incident confused with another one where it was a reserve. "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero

  23. As someone already mentioned, now you have to worry about the RSL, and you sure as hell dont have time to disconnect it. I'm all for innovation and developing new and better ways to deal and handle emergencies, but when a PC goes out the door it really is a case of Acom's Razor. If a body does not immediately follow that PC, people are going to get hurt or die. Prevention is the key to this, but if it isnt prevented, then there is NO time to think, just react, that's why we teach and train the way we do. 24. People are rude regardless of what sport they participate in. Jumpers get a bad rap because people already think we are crazy. Great example was this weekend at Bridge Day. Anyone who has been to BD knows it gets crazy. This year because the weather was better there were a LOT more rafters and campers at the campground than the previous year. Believe it or not it was the rafters and campers that got ridiculous this year. Hammered drunk doesnt even begin to explain it, driving wasted up and down the campground roads at all hours of the night, stumbling lost form one fire to the next, trashing the hot tub and deck areas, screaming all night long, blowing airhorns, reving their redneck mobiles with missing mufflers while laying on the horn, and just being overly obnoxious. Now I party and I party hard, but this was ridiculous. Now, with all that being said, who do you thing is going to get blamed for any trouble that happened this past weekend? The problem is it's PEOPLE that fuck up, regardless of sport. 25. I think its very cut and dry. If the PC gets out, it WILL pull the pin and it's going to pull it fast. If a person is close enough to the door to allow the PC to get out, then the dbag can most likely just as easily get out. A plane will not fly with a canopy inflating next to or behind it. Could luck trying to secure someone who has a canopy inflating out the door. I understand what you are saying about throwing someone into a tailstrike, but if you dont you are risking everyone else and these things happen so fast there isnt time to think just react. Again, just my opinion. If that PC goes out th door, a body needs to follow no matter what.
