  1. Meh...a bit pretentious. I actually understand what you mean here, i tend to be my hardest critic and the first time i saw it i thought the same thing. However, since you keep making production references I am going to assume that you, like myself, are used to working behind the camera. Because of that we have a tendency to make sure its "not about us." When you interview someone though you kinda have to make sure it is about them...or it's a shitty interview ;) I think Jason did a great job. Some of the statements were in fact cut up and put back together a little different but nothing i really had a problem with. Also, just an FYI, that interview was taken about 30 minutes and a few beers after my lowpull, so needless to say I was still feeling the rush. I wasn't really formulating my statements, i was just thinking out loud. Which to be honest is exactly what an interviewer wants. As to the reference about the feeling people get when they get near an edge...it's news to me that everyone doesnt get that sensation to jump. I have felt it all my life and made the mistake of thinking everyone got that feeling. I guess some of us are just wired that way. 2. If you have someone to assist, such as this case, some will argue a PCA is safer because you have someone else ensuring proper bridle routing. There have been jumpers in the past hurt and killed because they routed their bridle wrong and the SL broke early. I think in this case, the PCA is the safer option as this way the instructor can focus solely on the passenger. 3. Haha good shit. Can't believe I have never seen that before. So the new question is...when did NEO get so soft? "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero
  4. I know a lot of info isnt out yet but based on what is out what is everyone's thoughts? Personally I'm pretty excited. I'm pretty familiar with PC editing software but only had a mac about a year and most my editing has been on the iMovie side. I'm still surprised at the quality and range iMovie 11 has. Anyway, FCPX looks like they have combined FCP and iMovie. Should be an easy transition for folks like me that want to get into more serious editing. Pros: -Price $300 -Easier interface -no longer have to buy a suite of other things you wont use -better importing with audio and color correction -64bit! Looking at whats on the table this summer, someone could get a new MBP with thunderbolt and FCPX and have a nice little mobile editing set up at the DZ. 5. Thanks for reminding me why i try not to post in SC anymore. People only want to hear facts when they agree with them. Seeya. (PS my statement could have meant a number of things, you are the one that took it where you did. Just for the record, a blade can be concealed very easily in hair or almost any type of clothing...including...get this...leggings.) 6. Never underestimate how fucked in the head some people are....esp people that are trying to kill innocents. I mean we are talking about preventing people from blowing up aircraft or crashing them right? 7. I am not a jump pilot but to continue my thoughts in the other forum I think in GENERAL its a very bad idea to suggest its ok for anyone to bail without command from the pilot. We know what we are supposed to do, its in our rules and regulations. Someone doing something not commanded could lead to disastrous results. These pilots are under a lot of pressure of the emergency and assuming everyone is doing what they are supposed to. Why ad another link to the chain? At best an uncommanded bail will distract the pilot, even worse it could lead to a tailstrike, even worse it could offset the CG and send the whole plane down. 8. +1 It's also great for teaching fundamentals and basic stuff as well which many people still dont seem to get or follow. I cringe every time i see cheese with seafood for example. 10. My girl and I tend to watch a lot of cooking shows too, but mostly the competitions. I have seen a couple episodes of Top Chef Masters and so far i think i like "last seasons" Top Chef All Stars better. It's still early so we will see. Our favorite is probably Iron Chef but we also enjoy America's Worst Cooks, Throw Down with Bobby Flay, and Chopped. (Although chopped is quickly getting old.) 13. +1 Not only that, but most base rigs have soft cutaway housings as opposed to the big metal tubes we are used to seeing on skyrigs. These are very easily concealed in the riser flaps most of the time so it would be very easy for someone think that it doesnt have a cutaway as it's essentially hidden. 14. Really? Wow...i guess the two different companies that made my base rigs didnt know that Both my base rigs have cutaway systems, one even has hard housings just like skyrigs. It's a common misconception that you can't cut away a base rig. MOST base rigs DO have cutaway systems. I personally wouldnt jump without one as I frequently jump near water and have twice now had to cutaway my canopy because of a tree landing. You have to remember most BASE LZs have shitty landing areas. There are some rigs that dont have a cutaway system but thats because they have integrated risers. This is actually just a small portion of the market though. It's also interesting to note as far as TV, Movies, and Commercials, that I have noticed far more base rigs being used in film than skyrigs, even when the scene calls for a skyrig. 16. I cant say one thing or another with the limited info provided, but here is one idea: Throw them on a creeper and make them go through the entire diveflow 4-5 times. That will wear out any student and if you have a feeling they wont be able to perform then you should see evidence of it there. This way you can use this evidence to back whatever decision you make, and just might, get the student to make the right decision on their own. 19. Feral is in Spain? I thought he was still in Australia? In any case please do not shoot him, he might look like a wild stray but he is just an Oz base jumper "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero

  22. Love it. Dude holding a Red Stripe makes an awesome one handed catch and doesnt spill his beer. Dude 3 feet away to the left, sipping a Coors light out of a metal bottle, wearing plaid shorts, and flip flops, is kicking his legs up in defense like a little girl. This should be a beer ad. 25. I just fear one day we are going to regulate ourselves out of a sport. We should do whats right because its smart not because we have to. -I dump at 3k because I want the time. -I am either the first canopy down or the last canopy down because i dont trust people under canopy -I dont land in the main landing area (most of the time) but go for the student because again i dont trust people under canopy. I dont need people telling me to do this, i do it because i have determined it is in my best interest.
