Good policy, in my opinion. People have died because they accidentally sewed their reserve to their rig, and then tried to use it. Ok that makes sense, but it seems you should be able to work on legstraps without sewing your reserve to the container. But for work done on the container, seems like a good idea. BASE 1384

I believe you are correct. Also known as "integrity risers", they dont have a hole cut in the middle which could cause a failure of the riser (especially mini risers). They are seen pretty often in the BASE world, but that could be because they look cool, and you dont rub the little white loop on the ground when you drag your container. But if I remember right, they are not a great idea for skydiving. (Due to the fact that during a horseshoe mal, there might not be enough tension on the risers to get them to release in that orientation.) BASE 1384

The Kel Tec fits ok in my hand, although it is a bit small. Havent got to hold the Ruger yet, hopeufully will get to a gun show this month and look for one. I havent fired either of them. Im not seriously worried about the stopping power of .380, especially with a hydra shock or similar round. I have a bigger handgun that I could carry if it was all about the stopping power, but carrying it would just be uncomfortable. I will look into the xd subcompacts as well. I have fired the bigger versions before, and I like the design. BASE 1384

ok I have a question for you gun experts. Im looking at getting a carry gun as well, but I don't think I would like to carry some of the guns listed here. They just seem to big to be comfortable inside of pants. +1 Good post. I agree BASE is more dangerous than swooping. Both are dangerous, but both can be managed with good preparation and training. Of course whatever activity the person takes part of (if its just one of the two) usually seems to be the "safer" of the two. I dont have many skydives, so when I see people laying down monster swoops, I'm always thinking "stab!" "stab!", whereas a swooper watching a base jump is probably going "Pull!" "Pull!" If Davelepka put a gun to my head and made me do a 450 on his velo from whatever altitude he does them, something bad would probably happen. If I put a gun to daves head and made him freefall a sub300 ft urban building, something bad would probably happen. Chances are something bad will happen someday no matter what , I just need to make it till 2012. Then it will all be over anyway. BASE 1384
