  1. You are mistaken, the United States is not overseas.
  2. how many jumps do you really have???
  3. Apparently you're the only one who "wondered about this"...
  4. When I first started jumping me and a buddy would yell like that on early morning jumps. We waited for lower altitudes though, just prior to pulling while tracking off. It is very noticeable on the ground when it's quiet. Funny when no one expects it...
  5. Hey, I just noticed; I got my NSCR on the same nite at Spaceland TX, you beat me by a couple of hours (NSCR# 985). Oh well, nobody beat me on the NSCSA. Can't believe it was that long ago, I haven't aged that much...
  6. Good read; I'm sure you did another re-live when you re-discovered it...
  7. My mom always said I was one in 1000... Wendy P. Hi Wendy, I think of you as more of a one of a kind...
  8. Haha, and I wasn't kidding; I've never seen anyone go the wrong way...
  9. I thought the Piglets descended too fast to ossilate, and when you turned them, instead of swingin out you just descended (sunk) even faster...
  10. You should bring these endeavors to the internet only after you have pics or video to post...
  11. Wish I had that advice about 30some years ago, my knee still hurts from one of my two or so piglet jumps. What I did learn is that you do not hook turn piglets for landing like you would a PC or Starlite. About reliability, the guys that jumped the Piglets were the guys that would pull at a grand with no concern.
  12. I like that JohnRich, but I worry about the hood you live in. I personally burned through the sport at such a rate I felt I had gotten ahead of it, and not being one to wait I went windsurfing. But you’re right, we’re skydivers forever, get used to getting used to that…
  13. I'm in agreement with the secret mission; I've seen it before, and gone on a couple myself...
  14. I can't picture Miley Cyrus in a trailer. I say hot...
  15. To lend credence to the “skills vs hazards” theory of the late 70s through late 80s, it was during that period we became confident enough in our skills and gear to accept a new arena of hazards, thus spinning off the sport of BASE. This was a very developmental time for skydiving gear, freefall and canopy maneuvers and training. Most skydivers were much immersed in their sport during that period.
  16. I’ve been there also, in a canopy entanglement (we had one good canopy out) where we elected to do a transfer because of altitude. I knew the altitude and yelled to her immediately to initiate the transfer as I knew I could not get out of her canopy. I can tell you at lower speeds it takes an excruciatingly long time for reserve deployment and there will be short time when you have two canopies to contend with control of. We separated and both made good landings because of immediate reaction and good communication, but this also was with a round reserve and a straight flying main.
  17. There's nothing like running through a DC-3 door 40th, grabbing a quick flare in the prop blast then tucking your hands behind your butt and going head down towards the formation...
  18. I had a red one; it's a round with enough performance for CRW. Openings were a little brisk but I lived through several hundred of them. If I remember right mine came with a slider that I did away with. I also cut mine away on several occasions...
  19. Got out of a helicopter on a demo jump at 1100. Pilot claimed that's all he could get us(wife and myself), free jump though...
