  1. Until your girlfriend comes to that understanding and drops you maybe she will come across with some jump tickets for your Christmas gift; that would be cool...
  2. By 1977 there were more than 100 nekkid skydivers earning their BASCR. I would guess nekkid skydiving really took off when combined with RW, I wonder who was the first to lay base…
  3. Sexy, they're rubbing belly warts...
  4. It's not Leonardo Da Vinci, is it...
  5. With a 10% mal rate skydiving might finally become a spectator sport...
  6. Thanks Wendy, you’re way too good to me. Wow, real polarization; you either love this one or hate it. I made countless barefoot jumps on mine. Actually I had two; I wore one out and then pulled my wife’s out of the closet. I made demos with it also, but of course, I was the guy to land first so the others could see what ground conditions were like. I guess me and the Flyer were on the same wave length…
  7. I've got over 500 jumps and lot of fond memories of the StratoFlyer. Used it for BASE jumps too. Super dependable, and I freepacked most of those jumps. I do know a lot of people broke legs, etc landing them; I liked to hook in with the front risers for maximum speed...
  8. Hi Wendy, how about this... you be careful and we'll just talk about you while you're still alive and kickin'
  9. Times when I landed off I would just make an impromptu demo, and have even landed in the middle of a highway; made it easier to get a ride back to the DZ...
  10. The uncomfortable part for me was the ride to altitude...
  11. I remember Carl Boenish losing the lense out of one of his big ole Nikons once; it formed a pretty good crater in the earth...
  12. If memory serves me right, the Astrodome exit point was through a trap door that opened in the expanded metal floor of the gondola. Phil Smith was the brainchild (yes, he was demented) at a time when we were discovering alternative means of altitude. There was a walkway of expanded (see though) metal along the inside of the Astrodome roof, connecting the top seat area to the center of the roof, where a gondola hung. The gondola was made of the see though expanded metal also. It was a trip just walking out, steep at first then flattening out. The jumps were static line. Phil (Smitty) was brilliant at this sort of thing, with careful planning of every detail. Andy was the coolest of anyone I’ve jumped with, with never a worry. The two made a great pair. One jump, maybe the first, with a rope around my waist I lowered myself a few feet below the gondola for photos. I think my butt was tighter than the jumpers that night. I may have a pic from that in my archives.
  13. Here's pics of Phil and Andy at an Astros season opener game. The first Astrodome jump was made by Phil at a Demolition Derby...
  14. Hi Wendy, I cleaned out the back room last year and put an old gear bag out at the curb with a couple of Strato Flyers, a Starlite, an old silk canopy, an SST Racer and lots of memories. I guess it's all car covers for whoever picked it up (anything at the curb in my neighborhood gets picked thru)...
  15. BASE is practiced almost entirely by skydivers, but from what I've witnessed skydivers mostly look UP on BASE jumpers (from under the launch point)
  16. Corn on the cob is an excellently inexpensive meal when in season. Too bad you wasted your money on an education when you'll get one at the DZ...
  17. Not an old timer, but I did five; Made them and a freefall my first weekend in the sport, then suffered withdrawal because the DZ was closed Monday and Tuesday...
  18. If I jumped by my self nekkid I wouldn't mention it anyway...
