Does skydiving ever get boring?
fastphil replied to flycoop's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It's entirely possible to get burned out without ever getting bored. For one thing, skydiving, while exciting, is an easy to practice sport, almost anyone can do it. I was fully immersed and burned right through without ever being bored, I just got enough and went on down the road. Now windsurfing, that's a different story. -
Skydiving requires skillz??

Not a pretty sight on some competitors... trust me on this. Which begs the question: Which is worse, Skintight or Skin? also, begs the question: Naked or Nekkid? Well, I like to get nekkid, but that's just me.

You might check out the Houston job market and stay longer; you wouldn't be the first. -
Cool nite for a nite jump. The Supermoon's gravitational force most likely made your freefall time longer...

Very cool, I'm inspired for the rest of the day, thanks Dave... not only relative wind but relative gravity.

A "mushroom cloud", that's one hard landing. -
When I'm at work time seems to really slow down. I wonder if professional skydivers enjoy that same "at work" factor...

West Fertilzer explosion - 1 million dollar policy
fastphil replied to funjumper101's topic in Speakers Corner
I'm with you Rick, it's hard to argue against someones best guesses. Texas is home to some of the worlds biggest chemical companies and refiners and many more operate plants here so why anyone would guess there is a lack of regulation is beyond comprhension. Much of the safety regulations and policies are federally mandated, so like I mentioned before, where is OSHA. -

fastphil replied to funjumper101's topic in Speakers Corner
When a license is a requirement of the responsible person at a business in Texas (Master Plumber) there is also a liability insurance requirement to hold the license. There are many trade licenses that allow you to work in that field for one of these licensed (and insured) businesses. These are requirements to pull permits and enter into contracts. Even in Texas unlicensed business exist but on a very small fly by night basis. If you’re looking for regulation you need to look at OSHA. -

To foresee the unforeseeable is not a human trait, at some point we must accept John Maynard Keynes observation that “in the long run we are all dead”. -

Here’s another pic, this one makes me think “poor cameraman”. I think I waited for everyone else before I broke in. In case I didn’t say it then, thanks Wendy (and girls) for letting me lurk.

That's the way I remember it, which makes it harder for a guy because he must be able to count to eight. I'm in the slot for ninth on this one while some girls (Wendy?) are still coming in...

I found getting my WSCR and NWSCR took all the maneuvering skill I could muster, and then there were the actual skydives also...
