  1. I've jumped in temperatures as cold as 12 degrees F. That's about 15 below C. For this I dressed like I was skiing. T-shirt, turtleneck, nylon shirt, sweater, then jumpsuit. I looked like the goodyear blimp, but I was toasty. For what you're doing, I would wear a tshirt and sweater underneath the jumpsuit. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  2. Congratulations. At the other extreme, I haven't been paid in over a month. My last paycheck was on Jan 22. My employers have been unable to pay me regularly since September. I now own about 10% of the company. I tried to grab $10 from the cash machine so I could grab an Egg McMuffin on the way to a clients site. Checking account? Savings account? Credit cards? Zilch. After giving up at the cash machine, I did manage to scrounge enough coins from the backseat of my car. So I had my egg mcmuffin this morning. I want a paying job too. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  3. Cesna formation jumps are great fun. They're done in Canada all the time. You don't like the idea of doing a 16 way out of 182's? Besides it being fun, when we've got more experience and want to get on that 40 way, you can answer "yup" when they ask if you've done formation jumps before. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

  5. Nah, she was pretty open to it, If I remember correctly. I don't know that I believed her, though. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  6. You're on some funky drugs. That's ok. I understand. Just be careful of the halucinations. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

  8. I try to keep up, but the signal:noise ratio is just too harsh. I'd love to meet TandemTerry. Every time I meet a Terry I ask if he's him. This almost caused a brawl once... This thread has gone in places I didn't intend, and I think every worthwhile point has been made. I'll be back at SDC, but will be sure to look out for myself, just like I always do anyways. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

  10. I for one, have been chastised many a times. Thank god the search function doesn't go back that long. I've always had strong beliefs in what I think is right. Not necessarily correct, but morally and ethically right. The one thing that I can guarantee, is that I will always voice those opinions either in person or in print. Whether or not people chose to listen is a lesson in discretion to the reader. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  11. I've learned one lesson. This takes me through business, life, and my relationships with other people. Seize life by the balls and jump, goddamit! _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  12. My 100 was a 10 way. Pretty low key, but it turned out to be a classic example of combat-rw. This was my first lesson that jump number does not equal skill. I'd love to do a naked jump, but I've yet to find myself at a dz where this isn't discouraged. That and I'm pretty sure nobody wants to see me naked. Maybe 500? _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  13. 300 in just over two years. And yes, tandems count. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  14. I would always leave it on. I don't want to get into games over when they should be turned off. There's just too many variables for anyone that's not of Bill Von's knowledge to consider. If I'm getting out below 2000 feet, I'm going straight for the reserve. If I get out at 2,2 and it snivels, I'll be real quick to chop. Notwithstanding airplane emergencies, the lowest I'll jump with a sport rig is 2500. In Illinois where most student "hop and pop's" are done from at least 4, that's pretty low. The whole point is kinda moot because it's rare that we jump 182's in this neck of the woods. It's often tough to put togeather enough people to fill the minimums on Otters for hop & pops. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  15. I see elements of all the major characters at every company I've ever worked for. The killer thing was that I was working for Molson when I saw it. The next day they announced I was losing my office and being relegated to a cubicle. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

  17. I don't think we should have sympathy for them, but we should have a basic human respect. We don't have to look back very far into history to see what happens when leaders and military's lose the basic respect for life. We can point to Hitler and the jewish people, Milosovic and the servs, or any other of the despots the world has risen againt. On a lesser scale we can point to the smaller attrocities like the Canadian Airborne in Ruanda (sp?) It's not just American citizens that have rights. I'm a Canadian citizen living in the US. Do I have rights? If we igonre the human rights of our enemies, are we any better then them? Or, more pragmicatic - if we treat our enemies without at least some form of respect, then American soldiers should expect the same treatment should they ever get captured. I guess since you didn't point to any concrete examples in your post, It's hard to write this. I might actually agree with you. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
  18. 0:1:0 Jumping on saturday, skiing, then watching the hockey game on Sunday. The ski trip was highlighted by turning on the airconditioning in the car on the way back to chicago - IN FEBRUARY. To say it was slushy might be the understatement of the year. _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

  20. And this is surprising? 60% of the NHL is Canadian... US cities have more money. Cities like Ottawa, Winipeg and Quebec can't keep teams alive. Players end up in the states. Not a good thing... _Am ICQ: 5578907 MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
