  1. No, not yet. Do you think that would affect the fit across the shoulders?
  2. I bought a used Vector 3, and just got it in the mail today... I'm kind of worried that it might be a bit too big for me though... I'm not sure if it actually is too big, or if I'm just not used to being in a comfortable container. The leg straps are fine, the length of the container is fine, the only part that seems like it may be too big is across my chest. The container isn't by any means slipping off of my shoulders, but I could move my shoulder out from under it if I really tried to. My old rig was to small, so there was no way I could move my shoulder out from under it. I'll have my rigger take a look at it and get his opinion, but is there some sort of field test to see if a rig is too big to jump safely?
  3. What? Are you saying you believe AFF packs more coaching/experience into getting your license than SL? The requirements for the A license are the same, no matter which method you go through. Read up a little bit about SL, theres tons of threads here about it.
  4. Ouch!! Some wounds never heal... At least I have old pictures to look at..
  5. Yikes. Bro's before ho's. Remember that. For sure. Still, really fucking weird and uncomfortable. Shit's gonna hit the fan, I can tell.
  6. This is the most fucked up Saturday night of my life. I let my best friend's girlfriend crash at my place because her dorm is closed, and I'm the only one in town right now. She is literally naked in my bed begging me to come in. This is fucking insane. Its incredibely tempting, but I'm not going to do it. I'm loyal to my friends, and this has to be the ultimate test. God this sucks. What the hell is going on??
  7. Hey everybody, thanks for the advice.. I called the people at TonySuits and explained my situation. Their advice was to buy the freefly suit, get it with reinforced arms and legs and ZP in the middle layer, and throw on a couple of flat grippers... I think that's what I'm going to do, that way I can still do the occasional RW jump. I obviously will sacrificing the booties, but that's ok I think, because I don't plan on doing that much RW right now. If I find that the suit just isnt working out, maybe then I will go back and buy a strictly RW suit with booties and all... Only if my desire to do RW warrants it. Thanks for the advice everyone. Now, who knows about colors?
  8. Hey, I'm looking for some advice/opinions here.. I'm looking to buy a new custom jumpsuit, but I'm not sure what to get. As of yet I have not really done much freeflying, but I think that is where I want to go next. The reason I havent done much is because I was jumping a container that wasnt suitable for it. So mostly what I have done is failed RW. I think the main reason it often failed is because I have a fast fallrate, and have a lot of trouble slowing down. Everyone has told me that getting a good jumpsuit will help my situation. So now that I actually have the money to buy a jumpsuit, should I go for freefly or RW suit? Can you really not do both with one suit? If I bought a freefly suit, would it help slow me down when I do the occasional RW jump? If I wanted to do a tracking jump, would the freefly suit be useful? What are the differences between the two types, other than grippers? Just looking for opinions or experiences here.
  9. I deliver food too, it totally blows. I also used to make sandwiches at subway, and that blew worse. Before that I participated in psychology experiments at my school and before that I sold plasma I considered nude modeling for the art school, but never did it.
  10. When I demoed a Sabre2 every opening was off-heading. I even commented on it on the little card they send out with the demo.. I did have trouble packing it because it was so slick, so I don't know if it was my packing that caused it, or if that's just the way it opens
  11. Jeeze, he hardly even looks like he's 50 years old. Did he start when he was 5 or something?? Congratulations
  12. I saw Children of the Corn a few weeks ago and was pretty impressed. There's some cool stuff in there.
  13. I also have an older one (2001) that is made of the same, or similar material.. Makes it a BREEZE to pack! At first I had the 'small' rubber bands on my dbag for all the line stows (other than the 2 locking stows), and found that it was opening hard as hell. I then switched all the rubber bands to 'big' ones, and double wrap them, except for the 2 locking stows. It's made a big difference, and now I get those nice soft openings.
  14. I'm going to do my best to come to this boogie-- as long as I can find a container to buy between now and then! I just sold my old one.. Hope to see you all there.
  15. "I'm Fucking Winning!!!!!!"
  16. Hahahahaha! She sounds like a real leech. I absolutely hate people like that, and it seems like in college I have met hundreds of them. Whats your lady think of all that?
  17. I made the 10 hour trip down to Skydive Palatka completely alone. I was scared the trip could turn out to be a total bust since I didn't know anyone at all at the DZ. However, I was wrong! Upon getting out of my car and walking towards the packing area I was told to get my rig out and get on a load! I literally got straight out of my car and into the plane! The people at Skydive Palatka are awesome. In my few days on the DZ I met tons of cool people, made some really fun jumps, and found a DZ I would love to visit again and again. I met people of all backgrounds and ages, including those barely old enough to jump to those with triple digit D-numbers. There was all sorts of jumping going on-- bigways, RW, freeflying, wingsuiting, etc. Everyone was super friendly and willing to jump with me. A jumper of any discipline could find someone to jump with. The facilities are great, especially the shower. The Caravan holds a good number of jumpers, and gets to 13.5 pretty quick. I have absolutely no complaints, and I'm positive that I would be a much better skydiver if I jumped here all the time.
  18. The Allagash Curieux is incredible. If you ever get the chance to have it on tap, take it! The only place I've ever had it on tap had a limit of 2 per customer.
  19. I was under the impression that the Cobalt only came in sizes 150 and smaller. However, a few times I have seen 170 and 190 Cobalts listed in the classifieds.. Are these BS ads, or what's the deal?? I'd like to try one out, but I don't need to be jumping a 150 any time soon.
  20. I'm curious why everyone seems to be ignoring the OP's description of the student's attitude after landing. From what he said it sounds like the student didn't take what he did seriously, and just kind of brushed it off. I'm not saying one mistake should put you on the bench forever, but if you won't even take heed that what you did was dangerous, and proceed to laugh it off-- well I think that's another story, and might warrant some time off. If I ever responded like that to one of the many mistakes I made as a student, I wouldn't be surprised when someone told me to get my shit straight. I think its important to be able to take criticism/coaching when you're new to anything, especially skydiving.
  21. Nah, I only lose main canopies, and reserve freebags in the corn.. Not the container! I wonder where that canopy is today....
  22. I know its a long shot, but does anyone know of any manufacturers who offer a student discount? I know there's a thread going on about military discounts, and since I sometimes see (non-skydiving) places advertise military/college student discounts I thought it might be possible. Anyone ever seen that?
  23. I am interested in this too. I'm about to graduate from my ill-fitting, second hand dolphin. I think I'm ready to get off my belly and try some FF. I'm going to buy a NEW container, because I want one that was actually made to fit my body. Can anybody recommend any particular brand taking FF and cost into account? Right now Wings seems like the best bet, because of the price. But I haven't done tons of research. Any others stand out as being affordable and great for freeflying?
