I heard them say about 6500. The speed would have been close to normal. I am sure that will be disputed. Joes 28 foot rag was fired by an automatic opener at10000.

Hey I know the dude that organized it What a great guy. Its the biggest 200 way{weigh} in Michigan so far.We did one in Richmond years ago that built to 9. Steve Stewart of Waynessville and Richmond thought it was great to dive instead of base only.

Get on line from PD and get the lower steering line length. This is the one that shrinks up to 3 inches. Just have it replaced and you are good to go. It has your tail tucked down and slow openings. Does it rock fore and aft?

We dropped Louies ashes on Saturday at Iosco County at Tommy Oriellys Tawas Boogie at $:45 PM . I was wearing an Ash Pouch and was launched by Cliff Alficne and Brandon Myksas an AFF student.Christopher Myks shot the video leaving from the trail plane. We were joined by Pat Solar opposite me then Mike Nestor and Larry Franklin . AT 5500 I pulled the velcro open for no more louie. The family on the ground was very thankful. There was a coordinated "Him" between both planes at 9000 feet as this was a small plane Cessna Boogie. RIP LOUIE -
The one shot capewell was mostly on the early crossbow pig rigs . while nice in concept they never really oneshotted. You could pull the covers down then smackthem both at the same time to be gone. That rig had the first RSL in 1964 but you had the make sure you released the right side slightly before the left as ther were no cross cpnnectors between risers. Obviously they worked for me many times with the ropes and rings Paraplane clouds

Ther was a cult movie out years ago called "Attack of the Killer Tomatos" People would be lined up outside waiting to see it for their 9th time or so. It seemed to qualify like this movie so bad it was funny -
I made 70 sky dives for my 70th birthday yesterday at Midwest free Fall Sport Parachute Center in Ray MI.It was for a fund raiser for Leader Dogs for the blind. It took 10 hours and 3 minutes to complete. After the third weather delay we finally got off the ground.Wedidnt have as many packers as planned with the delays. We flew in Ryan Wetzels C-182 that he flew. He got 74 take offs and landings in an 11 hour period, his best so far It was filmed locally ,but I heard it was on CNN also. The manager of Leader Dogs was an inactive sky diver too. We have a web site 70for 70.org with a paypal account and details of Leader Dogs and me . Thanks ahead if anyone wants to help out.

The main reson for the capewell alos was to make the rigs inter-changable . The lines were sewn to the risers the main lift web became the risers etc . If you had a bad canopy but good harness pitch it all . If the rig was bad and a good canopy again pitch it all. Capewell was the name of the company that made the adapters. some Navy rigs only had them on one side to collapse the canopy if being drug in sea water. The 26 foot Navy reserve had sea pockets to help slow down the dragging process.

I bought a C-172 jump plane in 1970 when I had 150 jumps. A guy named Ed Scmock crashed it . I got out of flying then . Around 1980 I returned to flying jumpers. I have 650hours flying and my instrument instruction flying. We had a yahoo crash the plane I flew most. I havent done any bi annuals since then but still keep my third class current for tandems

For all you old time Detroit area jumpers Louie the Hook Schroeder lost his battle with life today about 9:45 this morning. He was back in Michigan to his place around Port Huron. He also lived in Brownsville Texas. He was the Head man of Thunderbolt Sky Diving team. He was also a CFII and taught many jump pilots to fly. He will be missed. I will post any new details as they come along. There will be a memorial service then ashes dropping at a later date. RIP Louie -
I built parts fpr the Seismograpn that went with them . Its picture was on one of the US mail stamps later. Years later 1981 I toured Neil Armstrongs Museum in Wapakoneta Ohio 0n I-75 and saw the backup model on the second floor. It was the first of many of things I made ended in museums. Does that mean I am getting old?

Makesure your center cell is different it makes flaking easier. Also dont make it a light color it shows the dirt to easy after cocooning the tail. Mainly if you can see through it when you put the canopy down you see a line that wont make any difference anyway lookt out of place. people star over flaking.

lekstrom10k replied to likestojump's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
If it was a markII it wouldnt have a drive hole Its right on 24 gores for a PC. It isnt a 23 Russian as the vents are wrong. Check the line lengths to compare it to charts for other models Its neither Paps USA or French as the nose doesnt have the vents abovethe skirt right -

I had an Alfred E, Neuman "What me worry " T-shirt in 1956 that I wore in the ninth grade. I also was sad when National Lampoon was canceled. If you couldnt find something outrageously funny in both .To bad for you try and suck a bullet out of a .45 you dont deserve to live.

Cutaways/Reserve rides..Who's the king of Chops
lekstrom10k replied to trigger's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
In 13267 jumps I have had around 60. !8 were tandems of the 3652 I have done . My first was at 600 on a ropes and rings Baby Plane. . Then the fun started. If you made 20 in a row without it was a miracle. The slider cleaned that up alot, Then I bought Unit # 26 . I had back to back cutaways many times. but never 3 consecutive jumps. I had back to back on Tandems twice. I also went 4968 jumps in 19 1/2 years without one on my gear and pack jobs. That was not counting the tandems not packed by me during the same time period. As I always said if it has to go it has to go BFD -
Elvis Presely had an Isetta 1957 There is one at "The Ford" Greenfield Village in Dearborn MI. By the way I have a T-shirt that says "Thats Mr Old Fart to you". Its noy quite worn out yet but I am working on it

A cactus is always nice. They never have to go get shots and only need a new pot every few years
