  1. PAC planes rock! Have as much fun as we do! You should get an even quicker and more comftable ride to height - we take a max of 17! -> BTW the door is almost the same size as a caravan - we have no problem with 8way. Blues Benno
  2. Yes I agree, and that is what happens here most of the time – but it's an informal process. Easy on most DZs as they are small and the CI knows everyone. Over the easter weekend one got in under the radar. Visiting jumper at a boogie with well under a hundred jumps did a very low toggle turn on a 120sqft canopy. He he got *very* lucky – ambulance, not life flight. Someone made the salient point that the same thing still would have happened on a larger canopy – just slightly less medical bills. I do wonder how he got through registration. This DZ is strict. Normally what I see is a credential & gear check + a 101 with the CI. Years ago in Australia we had wing loading cards anything over 1.3 had to be signed off – long since unofficially & officially scrapped. With the guru's down sizing to the latest generation canopy, I wonder what is going to happened their old “large” ones – like the 104s. You can be anyone on the Internet and buy anything. Education is the best answer but the 1% ruin it for everyone, draconian rules prevaill least we all play lawn bowls! edit: maybe not a rigger but a canopy coach. -> We have a freefly crest system, to do bigger than a 3way one must prove themselves in a sequence of jumps with a freefly tutor. Nb: The initial bunch of freelfly tutors where grandfathered. Blues Benno
  3. The most I've done in a day is 75minutes - RW belly flying. I had over 10 hours at the time. I even got a few 6minute rotations. If your fit and strech everyday it's not an issue.
  4. Someone I know got grounded for going low and botching emergency procedures. After they did retrainning they where allowed to jump at one dz, then two, eventually it was all good. At another DZ a coupla dudes where on probabation and a very, very short chain; After drinking and jumping. I believe thats all good as well. Another guy didn't jump much at a particular DZ after he screwed the DZO's chick and got caught! So what did you do???? Spill the beans!

  6. Vic league has been running, I wonder what pool they are using.? Blue Dreams Benno
  7. Ditto! Awsome aircraft for jumpers and DZO's alike.
  8. You mean an aussie one right? IIf you find out please post the link. The 2004 pool is here http://www.apf.asn.au/competitions/competitions.asp The fax league starts in 6days, so hopefully we'll get an update before then. I think the changes to inter are per the open pool: m {bundy} is now a star 12 {zipper-star} is now bundy-bundy (refer open pool).
  9. does the uspa have a code of conduct? I think a discipline hearing is in order. what a f***whit: Why not have sent the canopy to PD paid them to repair it and sold the thing for $800 not $500. I'm sure if you pushed the point they'd even test jump it. No! Instead for a lousy $450, this guy has potentially endangered a life (thus risking a lengthy geol sentence – hello bubba) + totally trashed his reputation and lost any chance of selling the gear his flogging now. qudos to those who sound the alarm. edit: I once had a rig with a dodgy eserve pack. I cabled tied the leg straps with two warning labels on it. And yeap it was jumped.
  10. you don't have a zero nor a animal option...
  11. Don't do anything low. Land straight in, always watch for other traffic. You should talk to a local instructor / coach that you trust. Plenty of people made craters playing around with risers too low, plenty more frapped in listening to me! I reckon be very smooth on the front risers, pull down gently. Then the pressure doesn't seem as bad. Reaching up higher makes if feel easier. Some guru wrote an article about dimensioning returns vs danger of front risers on larger canopies (like ours) -> So so it's not practical to turn the canopy more than a 90, maybe 180, on fronts. A nice long gentle carve is what rocks my boat. AggieDave gives advice in another thread: Sabre's have a great stall on rear risers try it out, I guarantee it will get your attention.
  12. Two really great resources on the net: 1) bugmenot.com - database for rego sites. i.e. Newspapers etc... 2) mailinator.com - email sent to @mailinator.com is stored and can be retrieved (no p/w). i.e. If bugemenot doesn't have it, you can rego with a verified email address and not get spammed. 13. fat grippers are easier to grip. Easy to grip = more points. More points = more prizes. More prizes = more chicks. So if you want to get laid you better get fat grips. & yes they make a small difference in fall rate, but if all team members have them its non issue - it's all relative.
  14. It will increase the value of your rig. Infact try selling a rig without a moden AAD! Blue Dreams Benno

  16. I use firefox 1.0 on Linux (fedora2). Sometimes it's fine, other times it locks my computer up (!!) or I need to save-as. dunno why. The java upload think doesn't work either.

i jumped it too. front pair going forward. back pair going forward and they kind of meet up. The vertical plan was to have the back pair go under (re std cont and compress floaty) but it didn't get to close -> back pair was too quick! Be ready to heave on the brakes, the compress gets going some and can be difficult to stop. We also tried (8way) 17 but I don't like to think about it - oh the horror.... Blue dreams

  19. My 3rd rig (mostly used as a spare for a team) didn't have a CYPRES until I almost suffered that fate. I dumped on instinct after a heavy impact to the base of the skull during an 8way exit. Exit was at 14, it took me until 10 until I was with the plot again. I purchased one pretty quick smart after that - especially as I was loaning that rig to alot of people. A second hand CYPRES1 can be very cheap. Some DZ's and countries require you have an AAD, so with two units you can always jump everywhere - even if one is away for service. Blue dreams.
