  1. It rocked me twice(back to back slammers...), and I had numerous "rough" openings that, as Marian stated, were implied issues with body position etc. . The second slammer damn near knocked me out and produced the initial two tears. Icarus was there for me and covered the repairs, shipping, and modified slider. When I return to the sport I will definately look into their line when I purchase again. For those questioning the sizing of the Safire-2, it is(was...?) a 260sf canopy rated for 300lbs @ 130 KTS. It was purchased NEW from a board member who purchased it and never got to fly it due to injuries and a long recovery from a previous accident. I put 26 jumps on it, the 26th being the "magic" jump...see attached. Hope this all works out for Marian. Blue Skies Anvil Brother #69 Sidelined with a 5mm C5-C6 herniated disk... 2. Blue Skies Chris! At least you made headlines with that "Shit Eatin' Grin" you loved to sport. I'm sure there is an endless supply of female tandem students where you are going with "Nice Personalities" as you so eloquently put it... Gonna miss you bro.... 3. As Lauren mentioned, this issue has been taken care of. Thank You Lauren.
  4. From day one I knew I was going to like Dave...one Smart-Ass to another. He was my videot on my first jump.... From the bullshit stories of helping build the Empire State building to serving in WWI, Dave was always good for a lengthy tale that was neither interesting nor believable. Yet, he was always the first one to reach out and greet you when you showed up at the DZ. I sure as hell will miss him.... When we meet again, please remind not to strike up a conversation if you've been drinking. BTW - You can have my LAST smoke...I have more in the car! Blue Skies Dave. 6. Just wanted to let Sparky know the "New Sink" is installed and ready to use. It's working pretty well I might add.... Anvil Brother #69 Sidelined with a 5mm C5-C6 herniated disk... Back2Back slammers and 40yr old fat guys don't mix!
  7. Didn't think too much of that? Really? Anyway, best wiishes on the surgery. And on future packing classes, perhaps? After all, you don't want to find yourself unnecessarily back under the knife. Didn't think much of the possibility of any "long term" injury. When I saw the canopy blew, I'm pretty sure I filled two diapers in one shot! As far as the packing went, I packed the first two that day and had no problems...when it got to be 100+ degrees in the packing area, I got lazy and paid for those two PJ's. I've apparently been paying ever since. Never again.,... Anvil Brother #69 Sidelined with a 5mm C5-C6 herniated disk... Back2Back slammers and 40yr old fat guys don't mix!
  8. Possibly.... Was jumping a brand new Safire 2 260 last year and had back-2-back slammers on jumps 24 and 25 that blew out the top and bottom adjacent skins of the center cell....didn't think much of it at the time with the exception of the bruises the next day. A couple months later started having deployment stability issues for no apparent reason.... Come to find out the bulging disc was cutting of the signals to my right leg and arm leading to disobediant limbs . I've logged maybe six jumps since October of last year.....I should be good to go late December of this year. Anvil Brother #69 Sidelined with a 5mm C5-C6 herniated disk... 9. Well, after months of hesitation, I have decided to fix my bulging C5-C6 disk. This is what they are going to do: >>> Artificial Disc Replacement
  10. I thought just OLD GUYS drove Buicks! Good observation... Pulling the motor out of the GS to "freshen" it up....gonna put a turbo Buick 4spd auto w/ posi in the rear..... 401, 4 spd auto, posi,,,,,I better upgrade the brakes too! 11. I got tired of the old goat never wanting to "fool around" and left her for this Black Bitch I hooked up with around Thanksgiving. She REALLY loves to put out! Anvil Brother #69 Sidelined with a 5mm C5-C6 herniated disk... Back2Back slammers and 40yr old fat guys don't mix!
  12. Of all the vendors I have dealt with in my life....these clowns have to be the worst yet(at the corporate level......) Aside from the local SoCal contacts, they have proven beyond a doubt that they don't care about their customers. Assume for a minute you acquire a "BRAND NEW" canopy that sat on the shelf for a couple years and was never packed, jumped, or even fondled. Assume also that you put 24 jumps on said canopy with questionable openings ~90% of the time and on the 25th jump it EXPLODES! Pitch, line stretch, snivel, BAM! (multiple packers involved in the troubleshooting process....) All fine print, warning labels, and company warranty policies aside, wouldn't you think they'd have the courtesy to lube you a little before, and maybe, maybe provide a reach-around after they send you a bill for the entire repair! Feel free to let me know if I,m outta line here... I remember a time when Icarus was a name to be proud of and the people associated with them(Wyat Drewes and Icarus Evolution - Blue Skies Bro!) were revered and above all, HONEST. . 13. So, you're saying I can't trust the router? Not always....all the router does is route, regardless of the content(unless you are filtering out the riff-raff...). You may be confusing the term router with firewall. Either way, wireless can be safely secured and provide much more convenience and flexibilty to your home network. Also keep in mind that unless you are a bank, gov't office, or other high profile establishment, most people could care less about you and your packets. 14. After exactly 24 smoothe openings and great flares.....my Safire 2 260 exploded last weekend on #25! Upon deployment, stood up and watched the snivle as I always do, (occasionally tugging the rears at times to fully inflate the end cells and speed up the deployment).....WHAM! As I reached for the rears this time however, I got yanked hard to the left before I could even get hold of them. Felt like I was smacked in the rib cage with a 2x4 and right hand was slammed in a car door! When I finally looked up again I had a ~40" tear along the seam of cell 5 on the bottom and a ~12" tear on the topskin on the opposite side of the label. Both tears were at the rear of the canopy. Hands on my handles I watched as the tears did not spread and decided to do a control check @ ~2300 ft. Two deep flares and two left/right turns convinced me I could land it and hopefully find out more on the ground. I have no idea what happened and I hope Icarus customer service is as good as I've heard. The long and short of it is I have jumped two different S2's and both had sweet(long......., but sweet) openings and great flaring. Anvil Brother #69 Sidelined with a 5mm C5-C6 herniated disk... 15. I have a home-run from my router to my machine, and absolutely no access from any other machine in my house to my machine. Am I missing something? What's on the other side of the router?
