  1. To be honest, this message should also extend to the people that run FJCs........ not only can selling a rig cause problems, but so can giving someone the confidence they can BASE jump........ I know of only 2 courses that check out people "IN DETAIL" before they do a FJC, and one of those do not partake in FJCs anymore.... Thanks to all the FJCs that let loose the rest to our small Island without a thought to the rest of us...
  2. We dont have a FJC in the UK (there was one for a short time but the tutor seems to have stopped that after a fatality of a student) and generally jumpers in the UK will give as much help and advice and guidence as possible before someone does an FJC and after their FJC, but with the availabilty of FJCs in Europe that dont ask for references from current jumpers here and take students on that to be honest should not be taught to jump in the first place, then what on earth are we meant to do when you lot (not you personally Robi) let the newbies loose on our soil and they dont think they need help from the rest of us....

    UK BASE websites

Matt, JD is calling you. My email is [email protected] You can find the site here www.basejumper.org - this is the only one current jumpers use. JD explained the reason and I will speak over the email with you Later Mac
  4. I do have a serious side sometimes
  5. If you BASE jump, make sure you leave a letter of your wishes, details on all contacts of your family (even if you dont keep in contact yourself - this is most important), details of where wills are held, who to contact, what the fuck to do next. Without these things, its fucking hard trying to get things done. Its expensive, its not fair, its a fucking horrible thing to search and sort out without any information at all. BASE is something we all know the risks of taking part, but there is no fucking excuse in not having everything in place to help everyone afterwards. Get it fucking sorted now....
  6. I have just had a flick through groundrush and I am pretty sure that Jakey had freefalled a B before he did his first B with you. So am I wrong, or are you wrong? If you need to reference it, it is Chapter 10...
  7. thats for sure... I was just asking the question...
  8. http://maxf.net/~outrager/1m.jpg I like that shot...
  9. So would you say people like Douggs and Jeb dont contribute anything to the sport other than "look at me videos"....
  10. He must have had a long Static line then on the London B... but then again, it may just be my memory failing me.... I am not trying to be obnoxious, but from my memory of his book I am just trying to remember certain aspects that stood out in my mind... I always liked the reference to the gun on the jump... edit: I am now going to find it and re-read it again.... I found he exactly describes things that I could never put into words..... cracking read.... If any of you have not been able to get a copy, then try some more.... you wont be sorry
  11. Maybe my memory fails me, but I thought that in Groundrush Jakey talks about his first Building jump from a well known B here in the UK...

    Skydiving

No, I see myself lacking on a currency aspect..... flying a canopy every weekend is better than not flying a canopy... it really is better to fly than not to keep up some consistancy, no matter what canopy you fly each and every weekend....

    Lesson Learned

I had a toggle drop from a 220ft A and had to land on rears, I spudded in (but walked away from it)..... does this mean I am a tool and should not be BASE jumping?

....and after adding your link to our site, please add a link to our site on your own website. The more related to BASE and skydiving the better. Thanks

    Skydiving

I stopped skydiving when I took up BASE not really from a choosing, but because I sold all my skydiving gear to help finance my BASE FJC trip and gear. I went back to do a couple of skydives last year (first time in 4 odd years) and although they were fun I dont feel I am missing out on anything. The only thing I do feel I am missing from not skydiving is doing a lot of jumps to keep up my canopy currency which would only benefit in BASE. When I have not jumped for a month or two then there are some jumps I dont feel current enough to do which I would not should I have kept skydiving regular and flying canopies.
  18. you seem to miss the point and focus on the word BASEjumper too much
  19. When I got hurt my boss at the time asked if I was going to return to jumping and I said something similar to explain to him why I just said "Yes" so quickly..... he then sacked me.... I do understand why people give up after an accident, I also understand why people go back after an accident. You dont need to have had an accident to be a BASE jumper, but one of the biggest tests one can have is going back to it.....

    Broken Bones

From your profile I would say best to concentrate on staying uninjured and knocking on the pearly gates in skydiving before you even think about the injuries in BASE. It will also help to understand the difference in injury rates and the reason for injuries. Did you start asking questions like this on the skydiving forum before you started skydiving? Did it help build your knowledge of skydiving before you started? Did it help to sway your choice about starting skydiving?
