1. Thanks for reply. Yes, I have done that. What I am after is some "trade secrets" / "things I have found to help" type of tips that I may not have thought of doing in tweaking / pushing some additional performance out. Thanks
2. I'm getting some really decent times out of my R-Bird, and just wanted to gain some further suggestions from others on fine tuning my technique to attempt to squeeze further performance (time wise). In addition, also how does your technique differ in aiming for time, compared with (a) distance flying, (b) horizontal speed? Thanks in advance.
3. Does anyone have a link or footage of outside video showing WS backloops/backflips (not done out of the door)? Thanks
4. Nice one.... seems to be working fine. Cheers
5. The threads listed under my profile (forum tab) shows postings by any name that starts with Mac..... rather than just mine. Thanks
6. Curiosity. I wanted to explore something different and what the feelings were like to go against everything your brain is screaming not to do. The idea was always in my head from around aged 10. My 2 uncles had done a SL jump whilst I was a kid, and the memory of them talking about, with the excitement and fear they described, stuck with me, and so when I hit 18 I went off and did a SL round jump to understand what it was about. That was 21 years ago. I knew i had found something beautiful. My second jump and full entry into parachute sport obsession was 5 or 6 years later when I had the drive to fully commit. Although I have been in and out of skydiving over the years, I have always had some participation within one parachute sport or another. Various reasons have kept me within the parachute world.
7. Fuck it, the guys convinced me. Although I personally think you are pushing it a bit too hard, and I hope you come out the other side unscathed (although 200 to 400 jump range is called the bounce zone for a reason)... I have to say in your defence, aimed @the OP, if one of my friends was concerned about my behaviour and approach to something, this would proper fuck me off.... Don't do this shit to your friends on internet forums, even if you are very worried for their safety, work out another way to try and be concerned without it being in public. To me, this isn't cool, even if your intentions are good..... and I believe they are.... Anyway, as a caveat, I think at least one of you is trolling....
8. New canopy.... 1) Ensure D-Bag is correct size 2) Practice packing until you can bag it Or, Psycho... (As others said in respect to hard openings only.) 1) Slider Control The rest is pretty much like sacrificing a chicken, if it makes you feel better, do it, but fundamentally it won't have much affect.
9. As other said, its all about the condition and how well its been looked after and maintained. My Jav is 15 years old and in spanking condition, its been well looked after. Dont let the DOM put you off from checking out older gear.
10. Any reason why you have so many tandems without just putting the money into going for qualification? That seems an awful lot of money to throw at tandems? Also check out Sibson, c.45min train ride from Kings X, then a short taxi hop.
11. If you look at the BPA link, there isn't a DZ located in the area you note. I don't know the topography of the area, but perhaps paragliders are active around there? Looking at the rail network, Colchester looks a right bitch for trains to a DZ, http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/passenger_services/maps/OfficialNationalRailmaplarge.pdf - so might be an idea to post on the UK Skydiver forum, or the FB (if you use it) pages of DZs to see if you can blag a lift rather than training it. Another option is the "Londoners who love..." FB pages of the DZs, see if hitting up the train to Liverpool Street and blagging a lift from there is easier?! I dunno.... Good luck!
12. What type of jumping are you in to? How are you travelling? Sibson has a good mix and high quality of FF, FS, WS - with coaches available for all. They have caravans up to 13+k, this year 2 weeks a month a G92 also. Welcoming and all round friendly. Chatteris is more (or at least it was I've not been for awhile.) a tandem DZ with a bunch of FS, and some FF and little if any WS (although Wingsuit coaching is available) Super otter to 13k I think. Welcoming and friendly. Beccles - No idea. Nethers - WS, not sure of FF Or FS (Ive only started checking this out as the Wingsuit scene is good), multi caravan DZ up to 13+k. I've found it so far welcoming and friendly. (Bit of a trek for you, just thought I'd mention it for the Wingsuit :) ) http://youtu.be/s6EaoPMANQM
13. Michael pinged me an email with the rebuilt file - THANK YOU!! Cheers for reply... all sorted... My muppetology knows no bounds....
14. I seem to be having issues with loading this Navigation firmware. Once loaded, my flysight wont turn on, wont go into charge mode, and fails to be recognised on my PC. It takes several attempts to re-enter the update mode to again recognise it on my PC, to then be able to reinstall the original firmware so it goes back into a functioning unit. Let me know if you need anything from me to help understand what is going on.... whether its my own personal muppetology or anything else... Many thanks in advance for any help. -M
15. Why do you feel you need to jump from a T-Bird onto a high performance suit? Your text suggests you are considering getting a V4 next, or basicially an older top performance suit. Do the mid-range suits (e.g R-Bird) not offer anything of benefit to you , your flying requirements, or skills progression?
16. 14,000 2,000 (under canopy unzipping) T-Bird 3 mins 10 secs 145lbs naked 5' 10" I only post as I'm interested in seeing suit types and maximums, as I feel people can pull more performance from their suits before up sizing. I am still to test my R-Bird for performance.
17. Now I am on a PC, here is the re-direct page. I see from searching that other forums have suffered this, and it would appear to be from banner ads, and only affects mobile platforms.
18. I constantly get redirected to http://mobirewards.org from browsing DZC (and no other website) with scams and promises of gifts and prizes. I'm guessing from one of your banner adds?
19. http://www.basejumper.com/Articles/Jumping/Jokke_Sommer_Wingsuit_Proximity_Guidelines_878.html I would ask that Q over @ BJC.
20. I sometimes forget this is primarily a Seppo forum. The UK, is quite different with systems in place to account for everyone on each load.

22. Average temp of 15c highs and 4c lows.... that is not winter for a lot of jumpers. Wear some thermals if you really feel the cold ( I have friends from hotter climates that bitch about what I call warm.) You wont get the pain that minus temps cause the rest of us. HTFU... this is parachuting, not golf.
23. Continue all along your flight to pick out alternative landing areas at each stage. Once you go over your current choice, reassess, and scope another. If you look to be putting yourself into a maybe/maybe not situation on making it back toward the end of the canopy flight, ensure you have an alternative landing zone already in the bag, do not attempt it if there isnt an alternative prior to making it back if you are still on a maybe/maybe not. Better to land off then panic attempting to avoid something because your eye was slightly off or the conditions on the last few hundred feet changed.
24. AFF breeding people that think 2,000 is too low to exit an aircraft. Help encourage newer jumpers to do some hop n pops at 2,000 to get them used to exiting lower than they are used too, and this may help them build up a more informed emergency plan. I try and do this on low cloud days, throwing out a gainer from 2,000 to help them visualise the time you have sub-terminal from that height. Myself, I have exited at 1,100 on my main, however depending on my equipment, the opening characteristics, AAD etc, would determine my plan of reserve or main on the =
25. Check-in controls are useful to account for everyone, however if we are looking to add response time to injuries that maybe avoided fatalities, then I feel that check-in procedures alone are not enough. Imagine the scenario, a busy DZ, someone doesnt check in (there isnt a counting canopy control). Tannoy announcements go out, people search, and eventually its determined they are missing. How long would this take? Yes, they would be reporting missing earlier (maybe), but would this help a time sensitive injury? Counting canopies, and watching them until landing I feel is a more beneficial control should there look to be an injury that requires a quick response time. I generally spend a little time on DZ control to get a feeling to how conscientious the DZ controller is in counting canopies, and the process of when people land off. In the most cases here in the UK, the controls are extremely vigilant. I normally take time to visit new DZs on week days (or quiet days) to get a feel for their overall processes (amoungst other reasons). I would feel much happier having people counting canopies and watching landings then whether there was a check-in procdedure. Saying that, I think both together create a belt and braces control. The otherside of the coin, dont be reliant on anyone other than yourself, and take full responsibility for your skills and capabilities and back up plans. Ensure your skills are as good as they can be for when you may have to land off, or for the conditions, be aware of whats occuring around you in the conditions, as breaking a femur or ankle compound in an off landing situation could result in death or loss of limbs if you rely on being noticed. Polish up your skills to minimise the risks, and take a phone with you on jumps. You and you alone are responsible, and look out for your friends and fellow jumpers.
