There's always someone that says that and I really don't know why? BASE canopies are designed to open at terminal as well as sub-terminal. There's nothing magical about terminal velocity from an aeroplane that makes it less suitable for a BASE canopy than terminal velocity from a cliff. Ditto, never understood that either... I took my Troll 265 MDV out of a plane to terminal many times with a large mesh slider and 34" PC, freepacked blah blah blah.... Never a problem.. Openings were obviously more brisk than my Spectre... but what do you expect.. Taking a BASE canopy out of a plane to familiarise yourself with it before taking it into the BASE environment is a great idea.... Do it, and if you can still get the CR canopy drills document from somewhere, practice those with it...

Thats the one! Nice one fella... Cheers I assume by your post that you jump one, have you any issues or niggles with using it? I take it the system increases the size of the bag, but by what sort of amount? It looks like from the picture that there is no initial stow at all, and the dual closure is in place of this? The lines deploy from the figure 8s first and then (and only then) at line stretch the secondary closure flap opens allowing airflow to the canopy. I would be interested to hear from anyone else that has used the mPOD, and your thoughts on pros and cons. Thanks in Advance Mac

Just an FYI, contacted Basik Air Concepts, and their bag with magnetic closure is only for their Seven containers. They stated they dont make it for other brands of rig because its too complex for all the different types and sizes.

Ive returned back to skydiving after a good several years out, and didnt keep up with gear progression. I have heard of a new D-Bag that allows you to free stow the lines, and I think involves some sort of closure with magnets? Can someone point me in the direction which manufacturer produces this... In addition, any other manufacturer that produces a D-Bag allowing freestowed lines so I can compare products. Edit to add: This is for general use with my Spectre. Thanks

I hear the Ballistic has good reviews. Nice one! What size did you get? With the blade skydiving type harness are the risers still attached to your shoulders? Do you have a link at all to this sort of harness? I think the idea with the nano harness is that you are able to run with your head forward to gain extra speed for the launch, this would be difficult with a shoulder attachment point. I am not sure why a hip attached canopy would loose some of the flare? Can you explain why that would be.... (anyone), I cant work it out. Although the nano harness does allow you to sit, I find that sodding strange and think the PGers are more at home than us doing that, but you can still easily maintain a "normal" position without much thought. Yeah we will all have to hook up when you get your Ballistic, and go play either in Wales or the Lakes

Yes, its all site dependant, but generally this is what I wear. If I fly and crash land and hit a random rock with my elbow or knee, it would be a really bad day if you were not wearing them. Rather be wearing them and not need them, then not wearing them and needing them. Did you know that there have been people killed from not wearing a helmet and just kiting their canopies? 99.99% may go ok, but it only takes one random rock hidden in the grass to smash your knee caps in...not a nice injury to have. To me, its foolish to not be geared up (generally) when you are flying high performance canopies in what basically is a BASE landing enviroment sometimes...

What exactly is wrong with the way this works at the moment that this new system is going to cure or improve? Behind the scenes networking and interaction between jumpers with the odd thread here and there asking for contact information works perfectly well without the added complexity and new issues (and bias) this new system will have. There can only be at most 3 or 4 degrees of seperation in finding someone from an area. I cant see any advantage of this what so ever, and it seems like an "old school tie club" that will just massage a few egos here and there.

This explains it. There is no way on earth you can get that "roller coaster" feeling from skydiving or BASE. Anyone that says they feel it, is confusing other feelings. BASE feels like "floating", its only the visuals that tell you different, and skydiving feels like a cushion as soon as you exit. Just because your stomach is in a knot before you exit does not mean its the jump that is causing it, its you that is causing it, and thats the magic of natural drugs.
