    Vented Canopies?

MDV is an acronym for Mono Directional Valve, so no forgiveness is necessary. Mono Directional? that suggests only one way? that is completly against the design of what the MDV actually is???? I thought MDV is a Multi directional valve and not mono. This is from the fact that the valve closes in various directions.... compared to the "flaps" that most valves have...

    Vented Canopies?

any BASE jumper that advises to use/do something that they have limited experience in themselves (especially to newbies) is out of order..... thats my thought sadly the new breed of BASE jumpers (In my opinion) are not the people that make decent choices

    Vented Canopies?

yet another great quote: Why did you all assume that what Tom posted was the way it happens? Why did none of you question anything he had to say, there were NO QUESTIONS!!!! Just because someone sounds like they know what they are talking about, does not mean they do...... (no disrespect TA, just trying to make a point)....

    Vented Canopies?

another great quote: Seriously, how can you recommend something you have such limited experience on?

    Vented Canopies?

How can you "recomend" a canopy to any "beginner" when you your self have limited experience on it? This is madness...... you may as well say "I have done this a few times so I think you can do it" So what? You have confidence in your kit with nothing to compare to it, but you have NO PROBLEM advising newbies on what they should jump.....

    Effects of a building

This kind of helps to see the effect a B has on wind... You question suggests you are not asking just about winds???? As with every jump....What is your landing area like? what is the approach to the landing area? how far away from the B is it? Are there secondary landing areas? what are they like? How far are those? What hazards do you have close to you? what hazards do you have on your flight path? What hazards on an off heading opening? and correction? Where is the nearest hospital? How are you going to get away? blah blah blah blah......

    170' freefall

he did a double gainer from a 240ft bridge in oz, and had about 2ish second canopy ride, I'd like to see it footage of him doing it lower then 200ft I believe its on the Beyond Extreme video... and I think it was 186ft http://miller28.server101.com/discus/messages/3/442.jpg http://miller28.server101.com/discus/messages/3/443.jpg http://miller28.server101.com/discus/messages/3/444.jpg Pictures linked from the ABA Site

  9. I now have a much more positive light toward life than I ever did.... but I will say that my journey through injury did have a similar mental effect on me as when I was addicted to heroin. Don’t belittle the people that struggle through the metal effects of being injured. Although, getting over my injury and my addiction to heroin (and lets be honest, every fucking single drug on this earth) have enabled me to have an outlook on life that is overly happy. I heard once a quote, (I think from Tom A) “If this had put me off BASE then I did not really understand the consequences in the first place”, and I think that is so true. Many people can’t understand why I went back to BASE after my injury, and I always quote that to them… I have to admit, if an injury stops you BASEing, then why were you BASEing in the first place??? Going back to my heroin analogy, when we sat around sharing needles and shooting up brown in a dirty room and one of us went “blue” and we/they had to revive them/me, not once did they/I say….. I don’t think this is for me... We know the risks and the pleasure out weigh them... If the risk scares you off one day because you get close to the "end result", then I actually feel that you did not know what you were doing in the first place…
  10. Degenerative arthritis is not a good look at 32 years of age... I get reminded every day that maybe that extra little bit of freefall was not such a good idea... lost my job, got into debt, hurt the people around me because of the mental battle a slow recovery and multiple surgeries has on someone... I got cocky, I got complacent, and I got overly confident of my capabilities to battle gravity and try and actually get a win rather than a stalemate.... I fucked up... and it’s so easy to do.... Pain is not temporary.... and glory is over rated...

    CJAA & IPBC ?????

    Anyone? http://www.blincmagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24473
  14. After looking again at the pics from the recent TFs fatality, do you think the transition from such a head high exit to such a head low position can be attributed to a "going for the risers" postion? The acute difference in postion cant be solely from reaching for the risers on deployment.... or am I being really stupid in this conclusion? I am a little confused by the thought that the reaching for the risers may have had an issue in this.... I only note, as I always reach on pitch and find my body postion is helped by doing so.... (I know others disagree with this)
  15. I started reaching for my risers right after pitching to help stop me dropping a shoulder. Most of my jumps are in the low range with 0 - 2 sec delays, and I have not had issue, but I have to admit, Sabre210's comments have made me think about what I may do with delays longer than this. My gut feeling is that my body position is still rather boxed even with the immediate riser grab pitch, so I dont think extra drag on my legs are an issue for me.

    Boogie at ITW ???

$3,000+ for jumping a legal cliff.... mmmm, bet there is no trouble there breaking even with organisational fees. What exactly does the "entry fee" get you? Any of that going to the heli rescue people? or just someones pocket? This has wrong seeping out of every pore....

    A Question

    It would be fucking disgusting
  20. Ask whose permission? The owner of the establishment, or every customer including parents with children that you would offend. A Skydiver/BASE restaurant? How about leaving your adrenaline inside your stash bag before heading out to a restaurant that everyone else likes to go to... How about leaving skydiving out of BASE... I dont know ANY BASE jumpers that would have done this EFS bulshit.. keep that stuff at the Dropzone and far away from BASE... This to me is reflective of the people now in the sport... too many with a skydiving mentality...

    New Film

Got my copy yesterday..... very very moving... one of the most emotional BASE films I have ever seen... the look on your face and in your eyes on that jump at the end just said a million words You (and your team mates) are an inspiration.... Thanks for sharing your story...
