    After a morning jump

My GF still thinks it strange to have a beer at 7am after a morning jump..... Nice to see others do the same thing! Were you on your back?
  2. The only way I can put this into something I understand is that when I was selling heroin, I would only sell it to people that understood what they were doing. I would never sell brown to someone who only had smoked weed or was a minor who should know better... Would it be my fault if I sold smack to someone that could not handle the brown blanket though non expericence and ended up OD'ing? Hell yes... it would be my fault... or do you think the buyer is just as at fault as me? So sorry I disagree with you...
  3. Black Vision / red piping / light blue and white (Battered) cruislite if this sounds like a rig someone you know has / had, and they have sold it on eBay, please can you PM me. I have this rig now after it was sold via eBay to a skydiver just off AFF who asked someone I know to look at it to find out if its ok to jump off something...

    Base 1000

I think it was NDG who said that once you get your number you will suddenly notice it everywhere and you will smile everytime you see it in normal day to day activities.... even when you have forgotten you have the number, you will see it and smile. I have to admit this is so true... I recently started a new job where I was given the extension number 812 (the number I would have if I did not walk down from that building that night), and I actually spent sometime wondering how to approach "813" to ask if we could swap, I then realised how much of a freak this may make me sound in my new job... But this would have been pretty cool as my telephone number would have been 811813, and 811 is the person I was with on our first B to get our numbers. Still going to work on getting that sorted, its only right I have 813 as my extension number.... I bloody well earned it! Congrats on 1111 Thats a cool number.....

    What Is BASE To Me?

Alot of people know where they will be in 10 years time, the same house, the same job, the same routine.... with BASE you have no idea where you will be in 10 seconds.

    uk base instructor

Perhaps post this request on the UK board... www.basejumper.org From what I heard (I dont know if its true) is that he has now given up teaching, and I for one would not blame him...... Have you also spoken to the other BASE Jumpers at Langer? There are some very experienced BASE jumpers there that will help direct you to the correct path.....

    Curious - Logging Jumps

I am curious on whether people log jumps or not. I used to log all the detail and then have analysis of all sorts of data, but I decided to stop logging my jumps as I did not want the factor of number chasing to come into my decisions. I cant actually say that this would not effect my choice to jump if it happened to be a milestone, so in recognising this as a potential issue, I stopped logging my jumps, I now just have a general idea of the number of jumps / objects I have. I realise I am missing out on recorded memories, but I just feel I may make a rash decision if the jump was a special one. A wise man admits he is a fool. So, do you log your jumps? If not / If so, do you have a reason for it as I do?

    Low Stuff

As Faber says, it depends on what you are calling low, one mans SL height is another mans freefall height
  14. Pay attention to detail... post #4 on page 1 had this link and it took you to page 3 to bother looking........ A 3 page hesitation is better than a PC hesi or object strike in my world....

    KIDS and BASE

I would dissuade anyone from BASE jumping, so I can not understand at all why would anyone encourage their own flesh and blood to take up this sport...

  20. My only advice is to stay in skydiving alot longer and enjoy it, within this time you will have some scares, see some scrapes and injuries and will loose some friends, once you get used to that environment in skydiving, then re-assess your want to get into BASE, as you will see it more, and then at least you will be partially prepared... please dont rush into BASE, Its a horrible sport and not as nice as it looks on video and not as romantic as it seems in the passion of newly introduced to skydiving.... I started BASE with 500 skydives with over 150 focused on getting into BASE, and I still was not prepared for the mayhem I got into.... Please dont rush into it... http://hometown.aol.com/base194/myhomepage/base_fatality_list

  22. what heights are you jumping from / opening at on your Slider down jumps? I for one know that I can deal with a LRM set up on opening and not a WLO set up for the heights that slider down normally puts me. I recently "dropped" a toggle and to be honest it was not problem, I am happy to fly and land on having made that cock up from such a lowish height. Having a line over and having to deal with a WLO set up from low altitude, well you can have fun dealing with it whislt I LRMod myself to a flying canopy....
  23. I think we are arguing the same point here. Your statement seemed to suggest that the whole point of direct control was to control the lines, NOT to control the slider that will then control the lines...... Its the same as someone saying a tailgate is there to stop a line over.... its not....its to stop tail inversion / flutter / encourage nose first inflation............. which will then help to stop a line over

  25. Is direct control not to ensure that the slider stays up in the pack job and not descend prematurely rather than keeping the lines together until the last moment? I have always thought that this was the idea of direct control, that and as a back up to indirect control (or when indirect is not used at all). How many lines do you bite your slider to? But hey I am a slider down slut so my understanding of theory may be fucked But I do agree, what exactly is a tailgate on slider up do that a slider and a wrap of masking tape cant do more simply and without added (small) risk of hang up?
