    NFL draft

I think the Lions need more wide receivers.
  2. I read this in another thread. What is this? Is it the standard pilot chute that then pulls your closing pin or something else that also pulls your closing pin?
  3. I was just reading a thread in General Skydiving about Strong Enterprises and I visited their website. There is a message there about an act of kindness towards an Irish dropzone that suffered some sort of catastrophe. http://www.strongparachutes.com/pages/inf_Strong_notes_and_news.php I vaguely remember the post here, they had a fire or theft or something and (apparently Strong) made a very generous donation. I tried to find the story on dz.com and I can't find it! I'm usually able to find things like this and would be very grateful if anyone can help me out.
  4. Watch the movie tonight. Take notes. Take the movie back first thing in the morning. Come home and tell her all about the movie and how she was so right in renting it.
  5. Here it is: Use Somebody- Kings Of Leon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCZfJ5ai07U
  6. I know a few men who were very very happy to lose that wedding band. But thats a topic for another forum. I hope you find your log book.
  7. I liked Anna Karenina from the first line: "Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way."
  8. I don't know how I am skinny. sounds like a well balanced meal to me.
  9. I think things will actually calm down when you get a whole side cut. I had one side disconnect on my main due to a dislodged cutaway handle and I was pulled upright with just a streamer above me. I believe there will be much less aerodynamic force on the canopy with one side disconnected or cut, the wing collapses into a ball of crap without both sides connected. I wonder if it makes a difference if you cut the front or rear riser first? My situation was the loss of a whole side.
  10. I'd learn to pack or mow lawns or manifest for jumps on the rental gear until I saved enough for an AAD. All the while explaining my predicament to any deep pocketed skydivers who might have one for sale cheap.

  12. If you *Must* smoke (you know who you are) Look into rolling your own. I can roll two cartons for less than $15. That is less than 3 packs in Michigan. I buy my tubes and tobacco over the internet from here: http://pipesandcigars.com/ryocigprod.html I was spending $5-$6 a day and now I am down to $1.20-$1.50 a day. The machines work by shoving the tobacco into a premade tube/filter combination. I can roll a pack in 10-15 minutes. The machines cost $10-$30. I prefer home rolled to store bought now. Of course not smoking at all is the best alternative.
  13. I was doing some research on canopies and went to Aerodyne's page to look at the Pilot. They have their in-stock Pilot and Mambo canopies for $960. I emailed them to see if that is correct, they said it is, they are on sale to make room for new products. http://www.flyaerodyne.com/fly/stocklist.asp
  14. What is that, 15 seconds from launch to landing?
  15. $1000 is a good price for 7 AFF jumps, if that guy is for real you should explore that option. Don't buy a rig before 30 or 40 jumps, it is too easy to make a mistake and buy something that you won't want to jump.
  16. http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=1600934 {emphasis is mine} Cheney authorized aide to leak in CIA case: report Reuters WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney directed his aide Lewis "Scooter" Libby to use classified material to discredit a critic of the Bush administration's Iraq war effort, the National Journal reported on Thursday. Court papers released last week show that Libby was authorized to disclose classified information to news reporters by "his superiors," in an effort to counteract diplomat Joe Wilson's charge that the Bush administration twisted intelligence on Iraq's nuclear weapons to justify the 2003 invasion. The National Journal, a U.S. weekly magazine, citing attorneys familiar with the matter, reported that Cheney was among those superiors referred to in a letter from prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald to Libby's lawyers. A lawyer for Cheney had no immediate comment. Libby, Cheney's former chief of staff, faces perjury and other charges in the leak of the identity of Wilson's wife Valerie Plame, a move that effectively ended her career at the CIA. Libby has pleaded not guilty to five counts of perjury, making false statements and obstruction of justice. Cheney's name has surfaced in other court documents as well. According to an appeals-court decision made public last Friday, "the vice-president informed Libby 'in an off sort of curiosity sort of fashion"' that Wilson's wife worked at the CIA one month before her identity was made public. Both documents cite testimony Libby made to a grand jury. Lawyers for Libby could not be reached for comment. Sen. Edward Kennedy, a Massachusetts Democrat, said Cheney's efforts to discredit Wilson could have risked national security. "The Vice President's vindictiveness in defending the misguided war in Iraq is obvious. If he used classified information to defend it, he should be prepared to take full responsibility," Kennedy said in a statement. White House spokesman Scott McClellan declined to comment. "Our policy is we're not going to discuss this while there's an ongoing legal proceeding," McClellan told reporters.

    Job opening

There may be a few people here who could fill this position: http://www.exile.ru/2005-December-28/are_we_wrong_about_bush.html The eXile is holding an open tender for a new columnist who can persuasively argue the impossible - THAT GEORGE BUSH HAS BEEN RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING. We're not going for "balance" here, folks. We're going for the spleen. In this case, our spleen. This is an open challenge. If you can successfully present to us three well-written, suitably infuriating columns of up to 1000 words in length, we will hire you as our new pro-Bush agitator. Send your columns to [email protected]

  20. Yes it will happen, because Bush has a Hotline from God and a mandate from the religious right. It may not be a total ban, though, many countries allow abortion only in the first or second trimester. http://www.pregnantpause.org/lex/world02.htm Those that can afford it will go to Canada or the Bahamas. I think if men had to suffer pregnancy, abortion would have always been legal.
  21. He still needs 5 Dem/Inds and unanimous Republican support to get anyone confirmed (need 60)... it is not a blank check... plus and of the more liberal justices who were considering retirement may now put it off for 4 years... J I wish that were true A simple majority is needed to confirm a Supreme Court Justice. http://jurist.law.pitt.edu/mentions.htm http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_761574302/Supreme_Court_of_the_United_States.html#s19
