  1. I agree they were conducting business their in my mind as well. They were reporting on a story of a teacher from that school attempted suicide by cop. I think the School board cops were a little pissed with the media being in the area. But that still doesn’t make it right that they School Board Cop tell them to cross the street and to leave using the guise of the School safety zone and the 500’ rule. There is the unedited tape now posted http://www.local10.com/video/14413746/index.html?taf=mia This is clearer on the whole events. The Gun issue is a separate argument all together. The disturbing parts I see are 1. The use of a law stating a school safety zone being used to keep reporters away on an issue that is directly related to that particular school and arresting a person actively working for the media on a public sidewalk and charging him with trespassing. 2. The number of competing media sensationalizing the headlines with an inaccurate account Now the media dose #2 often but it’s not often that there is Video and accurate report that members of the public can readily see the lie in the headline. Would this be a case of liable? He was not arrested for the concealed weapon that is a charge that followed after the arrest And as is stands from what I could find that a concealed weapons carrier is allowed within 1000’ if issued a permit but not allowed on to school property with a concealed weapon. IF some one wants to start a thread on the gun charge that would be a good debate in it’s self. SO this one time at band camp..... "Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most."
  2. Here is a story that clearly shows how misleading news headlines are by most media outlets. A report is doing a story in Miami and is asked by School police to cross the street. He is on the Sidewalk and refuses the large (read Fat cop) say’s he was within 500 feet of a school” asking him again he is then arrested with it all on video from the news camera. It is after the take him in to custody he is found with a concealed carried. Now after seeing the head line that first saw on digg.com was. Ok that got my attention “MIAMI TV REPORTER ARRESTED FOR ENTERING SCHOOL PROPERTY WITH GUN” Ok that got my attention so I follow the link it takes to a video from Local 10. I watch and then decided to find more out of interest as the title they posted for the link is clearly wrong as he was not arrested for the concealed carry but for trespassing and that knowledge came only after the fact. After a Google search “Miami reporter arrested” Page after page other then two his own station and Critical Miami had a different head line. He was not arrested for the having the gun that only came after he was in custody for trespassing. That in it’s self was a disturbing when they try to stop the media from reporting from a public location( The side walk) From http://carlosmiller.wordpress.com/2007/10/24/another-journalist-arrested-in-miami/Carlos miller has some other accounts of photographers and problems taking pictures from public spaces http://wordpress.com/tag/carlos-miller/ According to Florida Statute 810.0975, which defines trespassing in “school safety zones”, a person is committing an unlawful act if he loiters in the school safety zone, but “does not have legitimate business in the school safety zone”. The school safety zone is defined as 500 feet within a school grounds, which would mean all the reporters at the scene were trespassing, even if they weren’t packing heat. That is, of course, if they were not at the school on “legitimate business”, which they obviously were as was Weisnier. Keeping the press from doing their legitimate business is a First Amendment violation which supersedes a measly state trespassing charge. Now I'm not the biggest fan of the media and they reporting they do needs to be looked at with a critical mind but its disturbing when they are impeded in a public space by law enforcement. 9. I like the Alttrack due to the size of the face like a mechanical altimeter with a whole lot of additional features. That my personal preferences anyways of having best of both in a way. From L&B's track record I would put it up against the altimaster for reliability but again it all depends on the person and how they treat their gear overall. Reason I went for it when I bought it while still on student status Analogue face Digital log book Why I like it now *Needle has always been smooth and accurate *Digital Log Book *Built in Back Lighting *Built In back lighting that turns it self off after the *Jump (That was a nice surprise to find out after did my first night jump) *Good battery life been 18 months and still haven’t had to change the battery. *Self setting to ground level, when altitude off setting is in use it continues to self set to ground level but with the difference height of the offset set *Log Book on the computer *Canopy Flight tracking, Was showing how much I was loosing in altitude when doing Riser turns and can look and review visually on Jump track on what is going on. If you don’t have any gear and think you might want a jump computer in the future and like the Analogue face and a mechanical altimeter. I would highly recommend it. If you already have and altimeter the altitrack adds some nice things but for the cost you can get a protrack or the likes for much cheaper. With out replacing what you already have. I also hav the Optima, have about 20 jumps with it but I'm liking it so far. SO this one time at band camp..... "Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most."

  15. Everytime you hear about free trade all I see is more jobs going out of the country. Look at the state of Michigan and see how free trade has helped the manufacturing industry up there. Ask the people in Gary IN or in Pittsburg how the free trade has helped there steel production. Go to Detroit and look at the auto plants and see how they are doing. We have the same argument going on here in Ontario that free trade is going to be the end of the economy as we know it. It has but there has to be a shift form traditional manufacturing jobs to multiple other industries. If you continue to protect it wont stop the inevitable it only makes the transition when that time comes worse. We have the lowest unemployment rate we have seen in decades we had a period of time when we did lose many manufacturing jobs out of our own country as well but instead following the CAW and protecting job with government money (I.E. tax payers = me) they allowed things to take it course. There are several large layoffs that have happened in the Auto and Steel industry here in the past few years but with that we have created more jobs in other sectors to compensate that. Michigan is a good example of what Ontario would have turned in to if not for the forward thinking. Free trade rally doesn’t cost jobs it changes the industries where jobs are held. If you don’t make for that shift then yes your are going to suffer. There have been many industries in the past 100 years that no longer exist due to changes in the world market place and products. The buggy whip makers are no longer need but should we protect and pay to support their industry because that we the traditional industry their of the time? SO this one time at band camp..... 16. I agree. I've never understood why you would want to be involved with either of them. this debate has been taken care of numerous times, if you search facebook or myspace you'll find it. People loose touch with others and this is a way for them to find each other again. 10 years i had not talked to some people. found them on there and a few weeks back just got back from seeing them all again. That is why!!! Yes had the same thing and finding old friends conected to other friends. and some times a few suprises. SO this one time at band camp..... Face book I found lees spam, less malicious code (my space allows HTML and other code to be put in to profiles and it can cause your machine to become compromised. problem with virus’s and QuickTime exploits) My space was first but was never indented as a general social space it was geared towards bands to showcase them selves that has changed a bit since the inception. Face book was geared a Friends meeting place. SO this one time at band camp..... "Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most."
  19. Glad he's ok, thats scarry thing to happen. I was told one of the reasons for not doing abnormal thrusts on a partial is because you are using the air of the lungs to thrust the object out and that a partial would be allowing to much air to pass to dislodge the obstruction so you would be performing the maneuver with no real effect. Plus there is always a chance of causing injuries performing abnormal thrusts so it should not be done unnecessarily. SO this one time at band camp..... 21. Woah there why should some one taxes pay for YOUR education. You are reaping a benefit from a social perspective What would you say to some one that objects to taxes were taken to pay for defense not for education why should you get compensated? You chose to enroll I didn’t force you to why should I pay for your education? “I paid for mine and will pay for my children why should you pick my pocket for that?” because you could not get a civilian job or pay your own way for school? There are many social aspects you are using without acknowledging it but you have such a hard stance against health care. You keep bring up why should you keep paying for people indiscriminate breeding “insert continued rant here” Why because you NEED to have a continued maintained population if only those that can afford to completely raise children without government assistance the population would decline then you need to increase immigration ( and we all know how open of a topic that is and I’m not talking about the illegals) Then they need to ensure they have the economic means to raise children if not they look else where to go immigrate to. Education health care is tipping the balance. How many people have complained about out sourcing to foreign nation? The cost of companies to support private insurance is becoming to cost prohibitive to compete. If they not offer health insurance then they do not get the talent and stable work force they require. The moving of job to other countries help how ? The decline continues and then it starts to affect everyone. There are repercussions of not supporting the correct social programs it’s not picking your pockets as it helps line them. If social decline continues unabated the economically it will cost YOU more in the long run. If you don’t think the disparity between the rich has no real impact the you haven study the depression and the impact of not having social programs in place. http://www.gusmorino.com/pag3/greatdepression/ This could very well repeat itself if a country is not careful with the correct checks and balance to support it work force and populace. 22. Not exactly free for everyone that is working and paying taxes There are only a few areas that I strongly agree on in the social system 1. Education: The more you educate people and motivate the more stable a work force you have. The larger the tax base of a population the les taxes overall you have to pay. 2. Health care: The healthier your population the less you pay in the long run. Early deaths of productive people in society has a negative effect as you have not reached a point that they have started to give back to the system then what they have taken. 3. support of children These are all things that in the long term benefit society as a whole and has a common good out of the results of these socialistic policies. Like it or not we all depend on one another it is all indirectly but the dependencies are there. We need a well educated healthy population to prosper and to have a stable growing economy. The better the economy dose the more money “I” make so yes there is a selfish point in this so there are incentives to support this. SO this one time at band camp..... 23. And what is the problem with socialism? it seems that to many people here helping out unlucky childs would not be a bad thing if it wasn´t called socialism. Leave aside the national pride that everything american is the best and get the better of any system you find. Socialism has a few good things, even comunism has things to offer. Just for the record, i have top notch insurance that will cover virtually everything for me and my family, (bloody expensive as well), however we still usually go the public system because it has things that insurance does not offer. Like treatments not based on economical expenses. They are not interested in profit. good when it is my health what it is at stake. A mindset like this is why I am glad I don't live in Europe, where 2/3 of my money disappears down the void of a poorly run, nepotism-ridden government bureaucracy in the name of subsidizing the stupid, lazy, and poor. Once I am an attorney I will be doing my best to ensure that every last (legal) step will be taken to shield my income from Socialists' run-amok redistribution programs. I'll say it one more time--someone else's diaper-shitting crotch dropping is not my problem or responsibility. Fuck those who would make me pay for someone else's child. You breed 'em, you feed 'em. Lets abolish the school system too if you bread them you feed and read to them too. Let’s just have every one stand a 100% self sufficient for rising a family and to hell with these dam boomer and the aging population screw them all because I want to make more money !!! But if the economy takes due to decline in population and ability to be a sustainable health work force where do you expect to make a living? Seams many people haven’t learned from the past or example from other countries that have fallen in to a declining population to a point where it can no longer support it self and implodes. Then you should offer to pay the government back the amount they pay to universities as they are subdivide so your using that evil run amuck socialism system. Pay what a foreign student pays for their education that should even things out so you don’t come across as a hypocrite http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Population_decline SO this one time at band camp..... 24. So, the problem is socialism. And we should fight a problem of socialism with more socialism? Why should I take care of anyone else? Why should anyone out there take care of my kids? My kids are MY kids, not the children of a "village." socialism Definition Economic system which is based on cooperation rather than competition and which utilizes centralized planning and distribution. Yes health care for xhildren would be that. What is so wrong or scary about it ? Allowing some one to be in a better advantage latter in life to become self sufficient and more productive. “further increasing the span between poverty and what will in the future be consider wealthy.” I never stated that we should change policies or fund these people latter in life and intervene in that way so no Socialism is not being used for more Socialism. It is being used to support a portion of the population that has no say in their life until a certain age if they have poor upbringing why should they be penalized for something they have no control over that potently in the future would have more economic impact than helping to prevent it in the first place. I think you are wrong to a large degree as we further and further get away from the though we are becoming more self centered and continue to fail as a society Why should anyone out there take care of my kids? My kids are MY kids, not the children of a "village." Because in the future the children will be supporting the village! Like it or not that what taxes do it use the small individual take from people to ammas funds to complete things that benefit everyone. If you don’t agree move to a remote area use no electricity hunt and trap and live completely isolate because if you don’t other wise you are a hypocrite because the infrastructure of the nation is a village effort. I feel strongly about it takes a village to raise a child as it raises some one that is accountable not only to them selves but to the community and people around them. Too many have lost sight of this. SO this one time at band camp..... "Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most."
  25. I share most of the same views people need to take accountability for their actions but I thank that goes along with the justice system. The problem is that the difficulties of after being convicted of getting a job when in cases that being a labourer requires you to be bonded with a loooooong list of other jobs that cutes these people out from trying to become productive. The Government is not stepping in legislating provisions that shield companies that give these people a chance some protection from damages. There needs to be a better balance in some of this aspect. Some one makes a mistake takes responsibility for it dose their time and then finds a huge wall is put in there way from becoming productive again. Mostly due to companies so fearful of being sued if one of these people they did hire did something that they would rather not even bother. I faced some of this my self I hired some one I knew to help them out and to help me out do some cabling work and to learn the trade I could not use him on several job sites due to their requirements that the company be bonded. I could not get the bonding at a reasonable cost with him as an employee where dose that leave me and my company and him?. Here is a hardworking guy that took responsibilities for his actions served his time. Have had 5 years since release without any other interaction with the justice system and he continues to pay for it. He works sporadically from day labour companies while he continues to process for a pardon so he can move forward in life. DO THE CRIME DO THE TIME!!! That’s fine and I agree with but when dose the time really end? And when is some one really allowed to move forward for past actions? I can see really how some of these people get caught in this perpetual cycle. That’s where I have the problem. SO this one time at band camp..... "Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most."
