  1. Yeah. I've heard that they do change body position enough to affect opening. Luckily I don't have a high enough wing loading to be really affected by that... yet. I'll have to make good habits. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.

  3. This is more of a mean one, but I've ashamedly don it... Coat someone's windshield wipers with vaseline (on a rainy day when they'll use them before they go anywhere, or else it's WAY to dengerous). As soon as they turn on the wipers, it spreads a thin film of vaseline on the windshield, which is next to imposible to get off. I think they ended up having to scrape it off with a straight razor blade! God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  4. Yeah, when we did this, we opened high to alleviate the making it back problem. Since we were so far off jump run, it's not a big issue opening a bit higher than everyone. Just make sure you let everyone on the load know what the plan is. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  5. I tried that for a bit. It gave me wonky, line twisty type openings. So I just went back to PRO. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  6. Neat, that's really cool. Thanks Rob. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  7. I just bought a new Aviator, and I'm thinking of trying to mount a camera to it. I prettymuch had the same idea as Chris, with the Dbox and filling the uneven space with something (not sure what). If I do it, I'll let you know how it turns out, and you do the same for me! 8. Hmmmm, looks suspiscously like a pyrotechnic AAD cutter, no? I heard someone make a comment the other day that someone should make an AAD like device that calculates RoD and G force and cuts away your main if you have a spinning mal... I could see it sometime in the distant future. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  9. Yeah, he guy @ Sq 2 told me that as well. I just thought I might be able to save some coinage and strap a camera to the aviator. Sean LR God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  10. My advice would be to call the manufacturer and talk to them about your concers. Sean LR God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  11. I just bought one in Eloy a week or so ago, and have only used it for ~20 jumps, but I sure like it so far. I thought the audible ports were a little high at first, but I turned my Pro-track upside down, and they work great now. I'm thinking of buying a chin cup and making a camera mount for it sometime this year, we'll see how it goes. Anyone have any experience making it a camera helmet? 12. The only place I have alienskin is on my PUD handle. It seems to be holding up well so far! God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  13. This is an excellent canopy! It opens beautifully, is an absolute blast to fly, and forget what you hear about it not having any flare. I heard these rumors as well, and I can tell you for fact, they are not true. I usually come in double front risers, so I carry a bit of speed, but a nice smooth flare will give you a beautiful landing, with just a hint of run out at the end. It is forgiving of body position on opening, as well as packing technique.
  14. Sorry, that was suposed to be a reply to the orriginal poster, I'm sure you know about teflon housings Derek! God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  15. You could also get the teflon inserts that RI pioneered (as far as I know it was RI). Some people call them "VooDoo Tubes." They are a bout 1/4" tubing made of a material very similar to the material that coats your cutaway cable. The idea being that the metal housings are good up until a certian degree of twisting riser crimping force, then they can crimp down on the cable and hold it in place. The teflon housings will allow the cable to slide through no matter how much force is on them. You can buy a set of risers with them installed, or I believe you can get the tubes from RI, and your rigger can install them. 16. Man, I just finished my rigger course ( 8 days of doing nothing but talking skydiving), now I have to work for one tour, then I'm off to Eloy for 10! This is without a doubt, the longest tour I have ever done. I Have 3 hours left today, then 12 tomorrow. I can't take it anymore!!!! Oh, and just to clarify, there was no real point to this, just had to get it out! God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  17. Yeah, I read some thing the other day saying that the 3 most popular extreme sports are skateboarding, rollerblading and snowboarding. If those are extreme sports, I don't know what you'd call skydiving... or BASE for that matter. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  18. Ahh, my mistake, sorry. I was under the impression that it just noted the dramatic drop in the altitude loss rate as you being under a canopy (much like a pro-track) and deactivated. My bad! God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  19. I'm no rep for either AAD maker, but I believe that Airtec is now marketing a "Speed" model that de-activates after opening. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.

  23. Thanks, I think I've found it! God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  24. No!! It specifically says in our instructions that it's an open book assignment, and we can draw on other people. We just have to reference the poynter manual. Now PLEASE!!! hehe God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  25. Hey all, I'm doing pre-questions for my upcoming rigger A course, and I have one question of thirty still plaguing me. The question is about who developed the pulled down apex. I've found the term referanced several times in the design of hte PC etc... but never its origins. Can someone give me a hint, or a clue as to where to look in my Poynters manual? I just thought all you guys that are so well versed in vintage gear might have a better idea than I. Thanks!!
