  1. Yeah, I thought the Vigil was 5000, but 6000 sounds about right too. I would think that leaving them off would be the only option. As fro your selection, I would get an Argus. I bought a Vigil because I needed and AAD and the Argus dealer didn't know when his shipment was coming in, so I had to get a Vigil. Nothing really wrong with it, but the Argus is as good, water resistant, and much less expensive. 2. I don't have my manuals in front of me as I'm at work, but I don't think that any of the major 3 (Argus, Cypres2, Vigil) allow that much ofset. What does everyone else at your DZ use? EFS Sean LR God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  3. If trim is a big conern, go with Vectran (assuming it's offered on the canopy you want). You have to replace it more often, but it never loses trim. EFS Sean LR God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  4. Someone has a few for sale on the classifieds, here is a link: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/detail_page.cgi?ID=43810&d=1 EFS Sean LR God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  5. I'm about to take my rigger course (6 weeks) and I'm not super stressed, because I feel confident in my ability to be vigilant, but it's good to read things like this that remind us that this stuff can happen. 6. I guess you're right, it just didn't seem to make much sense to me. And besides, the guy wtriting the aticle was arguing against the stereotype, so you'd think that he'd be trying to boost the numbers if anything. 7. I agree that stats can be skewed, but finding out how many people have a job (yes or no) seems like a pretty straight forward question. Sean LR God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  8. No, it's none of the above. I know what you're saying there, but it's a racial group, not an age range or anything. And name calling is what I'm trying to get away from by not naming anything here, because like I said before, that's not what this is about. I was just amazed with the writing in said article. 9. Has been discussed Ad Nauseum, end result: Thumbs down for jumping. EFS Sean LR God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  10. Another who is a little young for vinyl, but someone told me that there's a mainstream band out there that has a freeflier on their CD. Does anyone know of such an album? EFS Sean LR God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  11. Due to the magic of the interweb, I can't tell wheather you're being sarcastic or not! If you aren't then you're welcome! If you are, please expand. Sean LR God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  12. I don't want to get into a debate over wheather or not I'm a rascist, because I'm not. I simply base my opinions on what I see of society in my line of work (Paramedic in an Urban Center). I see a pretty good cross section of the populous, and the majority of this group are lazy, and have no work ethic. Attitudes like "why bother work, I can get by on what I get from the gov't." 13. I'm going to echo Billvon, I've seen that on almost every canopy I've closely examined. Oh, and just for a laugh, when my wife was teaching me to pack, she was looking at my flaking, and she said "OH MY GOD, THERE'S RIPS IN YOUR NEW CANOPY!!!" Funny... for her. 14. See!! You can post new pics... God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  15. to be copletely honest, it might play somewhat of a factor, but speaking as someone who has at least daily encounters with this particular group, I can say that a good portion has no desire to work. Besides, in our job market, people will hire anybody they can get. Every single retail business is hiring, not to mention the massive demand in the oilfield. 16. I see what you're saying, but I guess what I'm trying to say is that... well, I guess I'm not entirely sure, but I do know that a 70% employment rate in a job market like ours is pretty poor. 17. It was a print newspaper, and the paper's website appears to be on the fritz. I'll try again later today. Sean LR God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  18. I could be totally out to lunch here, but although there has been lots of good info stated on here, nobody's said what I had learned as the main idea behind a flare turn. The idea is that should you need to turn close to the ground, and forget to flat turn, you can arrest the dive, and flare the canopy without it having to "recover." Some people are under the impression that the canopy needs to be put back into full flight before it can be flared, which is untrue. 20. So I was reading my local paper today, and I happened across an article about rascism against a certian group of people quite prevalent in my city. I won't say which, because this isn't about that group, it's about the idiot writing the article. In it, he states: "(insert group here) are seen (among other things) as not being able to hold down a job. Over 70 % are employed." Now the current rate of employment in my particular province is, oh, 97.1%. How do you think you're going to help dispell a stereotype when you provide cold, hard numbers backing it up IN YOUR ARTICLE!?!?!?! I'm baffled. Sick Shit

Could you post pics of the "stealth rig?" It sounds sweet! God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.

  23. Well explained! God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  24. I know that they're both possible, I never said they weren't, I'm just saying that they're a lot less likely. The bridle getting wrapped around an apendage, as stated earlier, can happen on any gear, and I'd have to imagine that a PCIT on a pull out is either burble related hesitation, or an uncocked p/c. EFS Sean LR God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  25. It prevents a horseshoe because it's virtually impossible to have a d-bag out without the p/c being out first, or at least out at the same time. And it lessens the chance of a 2-out in a PCIT situation. If you have a pilotchute in tow on a BOC main caused by the pin being hung up in the closing loop, and you deploy the reserve, when the reserve leaves the container, or even just when the reserve flaps open, it can sometimes be enough reduction of tension to let the main p/c extract the pin, and you get a 2 out. I'm not saying that it eliminates either, just lessens the chance. EFS Sean LR **Edited for spelling God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
