  1. Yeah, I thought it was kind of a cop out too. When you don't publish them, you get people trying to fix a steering line problem guessing anf estimating. If they'd release them, they could be made perfectly to spec. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  2. I'm going to start measuring trim on new canopies, I just haven't had a lot of experience with any yet. Maybe I'll try calling Icarus tomorrow instead of emailing. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  3. In any case, I'm pretty sure 6-8" will be more than enough. I'm going to add the 8", but only utilize about 3"of it, and then adjust it from there as nesecary. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  4. Exactly. That's more of what I want out of it. And my appologies for not explaining myself 100%. I do intend to just add 8" of line, but not use all of it. I'll find where i like them, and they fingertrap it and finish it. I just don't want to be picking stitches, and re-doing it after 2 jumps, 'cause it's not enough slack, etc... 5. You can read about different grades of velcro on this website: http://www.hookandloop.com/. It helped me a lot. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  6. yeah, this is what I'm thinking I'll do. I don't want to mess with those deployment brake settings. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  7. I'm just going by what I can see for the length. I won't add the entire length at once either. I'm going to add that much to them, but tie the toggle on so as to only use 3-4 of it to start, then adjust as nesecarry. I'm not sure of where it was made, but the lines haven't shrunk, they're vectran. My working theory right now is that someone didn't like how far they had to pull the toggles to flare, so they shortened them, but it was just too much. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  8. Oh, and as for the 8", that's what I'm planning on adding and then adjusting them as needed by moving the toggle knot. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  9. The canopy is an Icarus Safire 169, and I'm quite sure they need to be lengthened. There's no slack in them in full flight, and the tail majorly deflects when I front riser., causing an alarming amount of buffeting. I've gotten the brake-toggle setting from them, but they won't give out anything else because they don't want people making their own linesets for their canopies. 10. Hey all, my canopy is in need of a healthy lengthening of the lower steering lines. The wing is fairly new to me, and has had this problem since I got it. The problem is not shrinkage, as the lines are vectran, so I would have to assume that they were probably replaced inapropriately. So here's the dilemma: Which section do I add length to? If I add it between the cascade point and the brake setting loop, i change the opening charachtaristics, etc... because the tail isn't pulled down as much on opening. Oh, and it already oens pretty softly, so I think lenghtening them by a lot would create an uncomfortably long snivel. However, if I add all the length I need between the brake setting loop and the toggle, I'm stuck with 8" more line to stow when setting the brakes. To add to the problem, the canopy mfg is not willing to release line specs. Any ideas, comments, questions??? 11. Don't hold back, eh? Tell us how you really feel! God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  12. The store on RB.com is down, and my email to Pepe bounced back. I only wish I could make it to the boogie this year. I've PM'd you eman, thanks. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  13. I know I could just take the logo from the website (assuming I had permission) and get some made, but if there's anyone out there that already has, I'd rather just buy from them. I'm looking for an ~ 2" x 2" of the pepper dude logo. Anyone know where I might procure such an item? Thanks! 14. That's a good idea. Like the insulation stuff you get from Home Depot, etc... I like it. The only problem I can think of is that anything you coat it with will probably eat away at it, don't you think? I'm not familiar with JB weld, but I supose it's worth a try. 15. That's what I meant about it ot being 100% finished yet. Those edges are sharp as hell, and I have no intent of jumpig it yet. I was just done all the structural stuff, so I thought I'd post it. I'm still thinking about how to get that space filled in. If anyone has any sugestions, I'm open! God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  16. Okay, so I'm almost done. Here are pics of the cam mount on my Aviator. I still need to do a bit of work, but the majority is done. Parts List: - 3.5" piece of 4"x2"x(1/8") angle aluminum: free -3 "wellnuts" (little rubber nut/grommet dealy): $12 with screws - Strap and buckle: $1.50 - Chin cup: $8 (Hockey helmet style) Total: $21.50 I was kind of concerned about the audible ports placing the cam too far from my head, but it actually protudes from the helmet less than my wife's FF2. I'd say all in all, it took me 2-3 hours. I know she won't be the pretiest girl at the ball, but it'll work just fine. Feel free to ask quesitons. PS: You can call those other two holes in the helmet, um... "speed holes." Nothing at all to do with me drilling holes in the wrong place... 17. Too add to what Terry said about the possibility of a burr on the grommet not being obvious, a good trick is to run a Q-tip all over the grommet's surface. If there are any minute burrs, they will catch the fine cotton and snag. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  18. Hey all, does anyone know where I might find a chin cup, other than from BH/Cookie, etc...? I guess what I'd really like is somewhere locally, like a BMX shop or something. Does anyone know if other more mainstream sports use them? I'd prefer a racheting style, but the soft, webbing style will do just fine thanks! PS: I did a search, but the only thread I found was quite old, and not 100% what I was after. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.

  20. Yeah, I don't know. I'm headed out to buy the strap, bungy, and screw tomorrow. I'm estimating abuot $10-15 on parts. It'll take me a bit of time, but I think it's worth it. But then again, my job affoards me a little more time off to work on it. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  21. I'm just starting to add the cam to my aviator, and you don't have to spend $75 on an L bracket. I went to a local metal mart, and got an identical piece of aluminum for free. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.

  23. Hey all, I have a friend who's father is looking for a ballistic canopy for his ultralight. It's called a "Rans S9 Chaos." It has a Gross weight of ~670lbs. If anyone has anything suitable, and is in practical shipping range of Edmonton, AB, Canada, please contact me privately. Thanks. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  24. True, but they do say to only do it if you're having a problem, ie that the risers don't hold the set in the slink as well. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  25. It should definetly be part of the rigger's inspection, but non riggers should also be inspecting their links with some regularity as well. And I agree 100% with replacing the links when you do lines. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
