Has anyone dealt with Richard Hazel and his company: buildarig.com? I'm thinking about buying a canopy from the site, but I've never heard it mentioned on here. I have read the act, it's part of EMT school. When you're working as a EMT, you're governed by the health diciplines act, but not when you're off shift. While I agree with you that using ALS skills (thoracostomy, etc...) may be going over the top, I'd rather get in a little trouble with the governing body and IV bolus my friend so he lives rather than save my skin and have him exanguinate. Hey all, I'm and EMT, and the other day, I was stiing at work, really bored and watching a skydiving movie. I got to thinking about how everyone at the DZ is always so "thankful" when someone gets a cut or some other mere flesh wound, when I started thinking about more serious injuries that could happen. My question to you is, what kind of preparedness do you have with you whilst out jumping for a serious emergency, and what are your thoughts about providing advanced care while off duty? Do you carry a few litres of NS, some drop sets and cathlons? What 'bout bigger needles for pleural decompression? Does your DZ have spinal gear? Would you spinal someone, or let the crew that gets there do it? I definitely will. I'm not really the type to do anything too rash. Personally, I don't see a problem with it if it's being OK'd by coaches and instructors with '00s or '000s of jumps that have watched me fly and land. The jump number isn't completely up to date, and I've been talking in length to the coaches and instructors at my DZ, and we're all really comfortable with this, especially since it's not going to be until next year. Hey all. I have a javelin J5, and it's got a triathlon 190 in it right now, which is working out well. I'm thinking about going down to a 170 for next season, something like a pilot or a safire, but the sunpath website only says "up to 230 sq. ft." for the j5. It seems like I could just shorten the closing loop and it would be fine. Can I get some rigger's opinions? I've been conversing lots with my rigger, and he's bringing some in, but I don't know if he's going to get them before my fiance and I need re-packs. I've heard something about a recall as well, but all i know about it is that they made a whole new batch, all of which are sans the defect. I have 45 jumps, the last 6 of which have been on my new tri 190, and most of those have been hard. it opened slowly twice, but once was line twists, and the other was a 90 degree off heading. From reading on here, it sounds like line stowing is what most people see as the culprit, but i've noticed that the canopy comes out of the bag at normal speed, but it goes from snivel to full inflation way too fast. both times it opened soft for me, i'd tried rolling the 3 cells on either side of the nose in 4-5 times and leaving the center cell un-rolled. i know i said one was twists, and the other was off heading, but on the twists one, someone moved my rig mid pack job and i didn't take a good look at it before finishing it, and the off heading one, i was getting pretty low, and my body positon wasn't the best, so i didn't blame the canopy. that's how it's packed right now, so we'll see on the next jump. good luck!!
