  1. Hey all, has anyone here had a closing pin engraved? Not for use in a rig, but for jewllery? I'm wondering if it's possible, just fue to the small size of them. Thanks! Sean LR God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  2. That's a great idea, thanks! Sean LR God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  3. Nobody else with any input?? God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  4. Well, the CSPA coach rating system is similar, but not exactly the same. We have two levels of coaches, a coach 1 and coach 2. The Coach 1 gives advice and training with things like flying paterns and doing basic maneuvers such as flat and flare turns under canopy, as well as training novices on freefall maneuvers such as frontloops, backloops, and barel rolls, observing them in-air, and then de-briefing them as you said. However, for a novice to go from a "Solo" CoP to an "A" CoP (recognized by FAI), they need to do 4-5 jumps with a coach 2, which is rated to train novices on the basics of RW. The dives consist of learing to drive forward, match levels, and breakoff procedures. They then de-brief the novice, and give them feedback. As far as the "how to teach" portion, I have my wife's workbook from the coach 1 course, and have been studying it. I'm mainly looking for visual reference of people doing maneuvers in freefall. Like I said, I plan to do some jumps as well, but it would get pretty time consuming and cost prohibitive to do a different skydive for each thing that can be improved on for each maneuver. Thanks for the feedback, take care! Sean LR God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  5. Hey all, I'm pretty sure I'm going to be taking the CSPA coach 1 course next season, and I'm all about preparation. For those south of the border, the CSPA C1 course is basically a ground coach, assisting in packing, and canopy patterns, etc... but also does some air-air work. All the in-air coaching is in the form of setting up above and behind the novice, and watching them execute maneuvers such as front and back loops, barrel rolls, and turns. Now, I feel quite confident in my ability performing all the maneuvers, but I have not seen them done in the air. I plan to do some mock up coach dives with my wife, who happens to be a CSPA C2 and watch her do the maneuvers, but I was wondering if anyone knows of any video of this kind of thing. I figure if I can analyze and critique video for such things as coming out of loops early / late, and such before I get in the air. Kind of a prep for the course prep! OK, so I like to be reeealy prepared. I'm sure there's got to be video out there somewhere, just a matter of getting my hands on it. Thanks everyone, take care! 6. I was under the impression that you only needed an EJR if you were in controlled airspace. As long as it's a small enough town that you're not, it doesn't matter. Talk to someone with an EJR, they'll know better. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  7. I love it when people quote prices in # of jumps, they're just saying what we're all thinking! God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  8. I definetly will, thanks so much God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  9. It was just bought from someone on DZ.com, she can't remember who. Maybe I can give the serial # to 2k composites and they can tell me? God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  10. Ahhhhh, so even though it says it fits all those, it's only meant for two? She bought the helmet used, how do I find out which ones it works with? God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  11. The helmet isn't the kind that has seperate boxes you bolt onto it, it's molded into the helmet. I'll try to make this link clicky, but no promises: http://www.2kcomposites.com/html/products.html Hers is the FF2. 12. From the 2k composites website: FitsPC6,8,9,101,103,105,107,109,120,330,350,1000 HC18,1920,21,22,30,39,40,42 So it looks like I have my options open. I just basically wanted to know if there are any that I should stay away from. Like certian models that don't take opening shock well, or that just don't work well for skydiving for one reason or another. 13. Hey all, I'm buying a camera for my wife for Christmas, and I have a slight problem... I know very little about camcorders. I know my way around still photography, but I'm a little in the dark when it comes to video. It's her first camera, and she's just learning to fly camera, so we're not looking for the latest, greatest, highest resolution camera out there. I've been looking on Ebay, and of the cameras that will fit in her her helmet, (2k Composites FF2), the Sony PC series seem to be the most reasonably priced. I've been specifically looking at the PC103 and PC 105, but all of them are still options. What should I know, are these cameras good for what I'm looking for? I did a search, but most of the stuff I found was about more technical details, and not that I'm not into that at all, but I think I should start out a little bit more gradually. Thanks in advance everyone! God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  14. That's another way I'd toyed around with, so I guess I'll go with that, thanks! Sean LR God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  15. Hey all, I recently bought a pull out Javelin, and have experimented with a few ways of packing the pilot chute, but due to the incliment weather up here in Alberta, I have yet to be able to jump it. So far, The Javelin manual says "loosely fold" the pilot chute, but doesn't go into any more detail. So far, I have tried a few methods. I have tried bringing the apex down to the base down the centre of the p/c, and spreading the fabric back up to the top, so all you see is mesh. I have tried laying it on the floor, mesh up, and bringing the center of hte mesh down to the edge, and then folding it in half to hide the mesh, then roling it all up. Like I said, I haven't jumped it either way, but I'd like to get some opinions about how other people do it. I haven't even been out to the DZ to ask the only guy out there who jumps one, but I'd like to hear what everyone else thinks. Thanks in advance! 16. Everything about the reserve is built for reliability. On a lot of modern mains, manufacturers trade reliability and safety for performane to some degree. obviously they are all still safe, but things like making canopies elliptical enhances performance, but increases the chances of a spinning opening, etc... The reserve d-bag isn't attached to the canopy because it is simpler that way. Once the canopy is out of the bag, it leaves, virtually eliminating things such as the P/C and bridle coming around the nose of the canopy, or entangling with anything else. Reserves are meant to open quickly and reliably, and land safely. This is why they are simple, F-111, 7 cell, freebag canopies. That's my understanding anyway, I don't take my rigger course for another 2 weeks or so! God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  17. I got therm, thanks Terry. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  18. Hey all, I'm taking a rigger course at the end of the month, and I'm putting together a binder with owners manuals / packing instructions for popular reserves / containers. The only problem, is that I can't find them for Tempos or Ravens. I've contacted aerodyne and precision and have recieved nothing back. If anyone had an electronic copy of either, it would be mucho apreciated. Thanks everyone!! God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  19. Hey all, I recently purchased a new main and reserve, and I thought I had a container lined up, but it seems the deal might have fallen through. I've found another container I love, but it might be a touch small. It's a Jav J1, and my canopies are a Safire 169 (measured on PD's scale as a "156" so pack vol. is smaller) and a Smart 160 reserve. Does anyone have experience with this size combination? I know sunpath says 150 main and 150 reserve, but I really love this container, and I'd like to make it work. And yes I know my W/L is a little high, and believe me, the downsize was cleared with all the coaches and instructors at my DZ. 20. Personally I like this one, sounds kind of like yours Rick. Sean L God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  21. Our C-206 still has all the headliners and upholstry from before it was a jump plane, it's pretty quiet in there. Alhough, it is heavier, and it does climb a tad slower than the average 206. That and my iPod!! God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  22. So, my canopy just got here, and it is AWESOME!!! It's better than he could have described it, it got here fast, and he was excellent to deal with. Maybe I'll even send him a Christmas card... God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  23. Well, I just paid him for a safire 169, and just got a tracking number. He was excellent to deal with, and I would definetly not hesitate to reccomend him. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  24. Yeah, that website is something else. It's good to hear that he is on the up and up. There was nothing to make me think otherwise, but it was just kind of odd that I'd never heard of it on the forums, even when i did a search. God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
  25. my wife was at a 4-way camp in Perris and watched them do the stunt. They had to postpone it for a while because they accidentally brought a coupe to the airport first. She said they decided to do some practice runs, and he got it on the first one. They then started filming, and he missed a few times first.
