  1. Check with the dropzone. Their debrief-TVs might accept PAL signals. I don't remember having any problems playing video from my PAL camera on the team-room tv in Elsinore... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
  2. I don't think this exists (yet). Some things might be hard to compare, anyway (like speed...). Best tunnel list so far is on bodyflight.net, altough it hasn't been updated for a while. I made a list (KML-File) of (almost) all tunnels for Google Earth. Might help you to find the closest one to you... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
  3. From their new Webpage: No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
  4. iFly is something totally different. Some newer SkyVenture tunnels (SF, Hollywood, Utah) use this name. AFAIK, the Vegas tunnel was bought off Gary Speers (Owner of Flyaway) by Keith and Chris Fields a couple of years ago. Since Pigeon Forge and Las Vegas don't belong together anymore, the changed the name of the Vegas tunnel.... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
  5. Rosa is right. Flyaway Las Vegas changed the name to Vegas Indoor Skydiving around March. They gave me a free T-shirt with the new name/logo at my last visit end of march (thanks again, Keith). It's still hot, still slow, but still more fun than most SV tunnels, IMHO... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
  6. "Cool" is definitely the wrong word... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
  7. I did make mine myself, and that's probably why I go to BK rather than McD... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
  8. Taken last sunday morning at the Hellaherb Boogie in Switzerland. It was my first balloon jump . I thought it came out quite nice (for a cheap point&shoot camera) ... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
  9. My guess is, the drop sensor doesn't care (or know)what the selected recording media is. If the harddrive stays parked, could be checked in a camera shop. Change movie and still media to MS, switch camera off and back on and observe the HDD access LED. If it comes on, don't buy... 10. If the harddrive can stay parked (recording to memory stick) in camera "ON" position, it should be possible. No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
  11. My typing is soooo slow in the morning... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
  12. I'm guessing he's looking for a PC1000E (PAL), since NTSC won't help him much in Belgium... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
  13. It does seem deceptive and even rude. But look at it from the positive side. You do end up at a page for a good lens, rather than a shady directory site or even worse... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
  14. Well, I bought the camera used on ebay for ~200$, after being inspired by your modification. 5 months is the time between arrival of the camera and jumping it the first time. I don't jump during the winter (rather do tunnel-time), so I wasn't in a hurry. Besides that, I'm married and have a 15 month old son, which doesn't leave much time for "continuous" working on this project. And selling it ?? No way... 15. I also use the Kodak, mounted on my FF2. But compared to Laszlo's modification, I guess my way is a little bit more "subtle", but can only be used on my helmet. The whole project took me almost 5 months, but there's not much jumping during winter anyway, around here... Check out the pics. Some details: - manual (tongue) and automatic (pic every 3 seconds) modes, changeable during freefall - electronic circuit powered by camera battery (short-circuit protected, of course...) - 3-color LED indication: yellow for automatic on, red lights up 1 second before release, blue at shutter release - built in 3mW laser pointer, indicates center-of-view, also powered by camera battery - gold plated contacts - low profile, only 3 mm higher than the helmet itself - lightweight, camera and complete bracket adds less than 350 grams to the helmet Sure, it doesn't even get close to DSLR-quality, but for a fraction of the price, weight and size, it's nice to have a still cam with you on every jump... 16. It was meant as a joke... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
  17. Well, I guess that depends on your flying skills... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
  18. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to be a smart ass, since I really respect people like you who have an idea and actually realize it, but ... why does it have to be real-time superimposing??? I have done the same kind of thing with the logged data (time, altitude and speed) of my pro-track. but I did it at home using a subtitle program. It does need more time for post-processing (converting the data files into the right format, synchronizing, rendering...) but, on the hardware side, you only need a camcorder, a (separate) logger and a PC. And the output can look much better, since you can select font and color of the "subtitled" data. If you're into computer animations, you could even create some "analog style instruments" and overlay them onto the original video, kind a like the in-car view we (europeans...) know from the Formula1 races. Honestly, I don't know of too many skydivers who would strap on that much of hardware, just to cut down on post-processing time. If it would be a live broadcast, that's a different story, but I haven't seen much of that in skydiving, either... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
  19. You'll probably be the first to test, since (afaik) this is a japanese only model and I don't know of many japanese jumpers hangin' around here... There is no PAL model of this cam, so there won't be any europeans using it. But please test it and post your results. It looks like a sweet lil' camera perfect to replace the old PCx cams. 20. Thanks for pointing it out, Paul. I would have never watched it otherwise... But then again, when it comes to tunnels in music videos, nothing beats Jamiroquai... Too bad this tunnel is rotting somewhere in S.Korea No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
  21. If you want a high tunnel count on your trip, don't forget Vegas! For a real tunnel junkie, this one is a must. I was in Elsinore in March and had 3 days of bad weather/wind, so I did Hollywood on Saturday, Vegas on Sunday and Perris on Monday. Although iFly and Perris were much faster, the most fun I had in Vegas. Enjoy your trip... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
  22. I do agree, but you should also consider the people weighing 200 lb and above. If the they say that a low speed tunnel sucks, I totally understand them... Of course, I'm not talking about me I love any way of not being "bound to the ground". No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
  23. True, the list price of the TG1 is lower then the one for the CX7, but here in Switzerland I can buy a CX7 for ~1100$ (promotion), or pre-order a TG1 for ~1500$ (shipping in May), in the same shop. Once the TG1 has been available for a while, the street price will come down, too. But without a filter thread, this is not relevant anyway... unless you build your own wide-angle converter support bracket. No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
  24. It doesn't need a filter thread ! Once you paid for the camera, you won't have any money left for a wideangle lens. The price for the TG1 gets you a new CX7 PLUS a new topmount helmet... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
  25. No clue how much, but definitely more than 100 hours. I've been seriously addicted since 1999, never been instructing or working as a coach. But at my home tunnel, I get treated almost like an instructor... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
