  1. No worries, mate. Just out of curiosity: what is an aussie guy studying in korea? So far, the only "longnoses" i've met in Korea were either english teachers, engineers or sailors... But then again, I didn't spend too much time in Seoul yet, it might be different there... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
  2. Hi Colin The company I work for has a few projects in Korea so I spent most of this and last year in Korea, mostly in the Suncheon/Gwangyang area way down south. I have no experience about skydiving in Korea so far, but I did some investigating about it. Here are a few links: Korea Parachute Association Korea Parachute School Skydiving School As with most korean websites, there's no english version (and Babelfish doesn't get you too far). But as far as I know, both schools are in the Seoul area. Another way of getting some freefall skills in Korea might be the Tunnel. Skyflying Korea This is a mobile windtunnel built in Switzerland and sold to Korea last year. Currently not in operation, but the last thing I heard was that they plan to restart between June and July. I hope this is of some help to you. I'm in Switzerland right now, but probably back in Korea in a couple of weeks. I broke my arm in a landing accident last year but restarted skydiving two days ago, so if you get more information or even do your AFF in Korea, keep us posted. 3. There is a "World Championship of Vertical Wind Tunnels" taking place next Friday at the Special Event Showcase in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Does anyone know, which tunnel they'll be flying on? There are pics and video of X-Treme Air (Lifted Ent.) on the webpage, but I guess VR Skydiving would be closer... Anyway, I'll keep my fingers crossed for our swiss representatives, Dave and Mike. 5. I don't think you have withdrawal symptoms.... YOU JUST CAN'T WAIT TO HAVE "YOUR OWN TUNNEL" !!! Maybe it helps if you go to the construction site, bring a hairdryer, and imagine... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...

  9. I never believed in horoscopes, but the chinese horoscope was very useful when I used to date. If you ask girls how old they are, they won't tell you. But they will always tell you their sign in the chinese horoscope... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...

  12. End of Summer 2005 is WAY to optimistic. Even an "off the shelf" tunnel (SV, which I think it's not) couldn't be built and commissioned until then. I'M GONNA EAT SOME TUBE STOES IF THEY OPEN THIS YEAR!!! Just a lot of hot air, IMHO. Still hope they prove me wrong, though. 13. There's a party starting here (South Korea) in an hour. If you're a fast swimmer, you could make it... But since you mean "east", you would have to be a fast runner too No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...

  16. Next time you go to your dropzone, bring a kite and a pair of rollerblades. If the winds are to strong to jump, put them on and let the kite drag you up and down the runway. I'ts a hell lot of fun ... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...
  17. Hi tunnelrats, bunnies, and whatever you can throw into a column of air... My name is Andy and I live in Zurich Switzerland, not too far from the tunnel. Although my first flight in there was in 1991, just two weeks after it opened, it took me 8 years to get seriously addicted. I've enjoyed about 30 minutes in the swiss mobile tunnel 1 hour in Cairo, Egypt 2 hours in Genting, Malaysia and over 60 hours in Zurich, Switzerland My last flight in there was 2 weeks ago, just before I left for Korea. Hopefully, if they can keep the promise to restart operations soon, my next one will be in Korea in about 3 to 4 weeks. Of course, what I love most in my life is my wife ... but tunnelflying/freefalling comes just after !
