  1. I'm Down Under mate. Sleeping while you good folk work up there on the wrong side of the planet I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  2. please provide link to location on UPT website as I have done a thorough search of their site and am unable to locate the "Product Improvement Announcement" thanks I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  3. The loft where I trained taught me to use WD-40 sprayed directly onto the cables to clean them, wipe off with clean and dry cloth. Then spray with silicone and then wipe off exces with clean dry cloth. Works a treat. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  4. I have heard this before but every time I have tried I find that the base of the spring moves and then it is hard to hide the collar of the cap. My personal favourite for this part of the pack is to take a kitchen chair and turn it on its side. Place the rig on it and hold the cap down with one hand as I reach under the rig and remove the bodkins followed by the ghost loops. takes a bit of practice to get the pins in with one hand but its very do-able. Then I can cinch down the cap all the while holding it in place. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  5. send it to me here in OZ, I charge Au$70 the first time a I handle a rig and then Au$60 every time after that if my seal is still on it intact, and that is for a Racer or any other rig for that matter (US$49 and US$42) admittedly everyone over here is underpaid and living on noodles ;) I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  6. we re-iine all Tandems that come through the loft with Vectran 1000 lbs with control lines being from 1500 lbs. I also had a work canopy at the DZ where i work that had HMA but found I didn't like the openings as much. Felt somewhat spongy. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  7. I have a measly 307 packs and 25 saves... I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  8. I had an Instructor pack me a step though! control check and all good so landed it :) I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

  10. I've done about 250 H/C on Strong and around 1000 on Eclipse/Vector/Sigma. I do not like Strong rigs to jump but they do give a better picture when doing H/C with more background view than on the other systems. Though with a Cookie Composites .2 lens you get plenty in still with good views. Hell, that lens even gets in my alti which sits next to my glove! I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  11. do a search for the accident at Willowbank Australia where the students were attached to their Instructors. After the plane went in the dam the students would have no idea how to release themselves from the instructor essentially signing a death warrant for them. The same applies in any accident in an aircraft. If the the instructor were unconcious or dead after an accident the student is then stuck in the aircraft. The student should have their own restraint until a height where you would exit with them and then attach student and release restraint. my 2 cents I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  12. pockets are an extra piece of material sewn along the leading edge (front) of the slider that restricts air getting into the nose of the canopy briefly slowing down the opening. send me your slider and we will sort it out for you. See you back on skysurfer.com.au I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  13. likewise for me here in Oz I think I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  14. such as the random mis-fires due to sensor problems that have occurred in recent times that required a large number of them to be returned to Airtec. Such as random problems with the display unit where they are counting down and then the screen goes blank and when the screen comes back on it is counting down from a different place again and ends up with a non-zero value when it has finished its self test but is still armed?? hmmm, these do not fill me with confidence or suggest that the 'mature' Cypres has no teething problems. The fact of the matter is that Cypres has its share of problems still. I for one prefer the ethos of Aviacom as a company who have made all the material and testing available to the public and does not hide behind closed doors I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  15. please tell me that you meant the lines and are NOT jumping those risers !! I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  16. hmmm there are lots of good reasons to tack them and no bad ones not to. the part about making it harder to check them is nonsense as well. Unpick-Inspect-Tack. It takes a couple of minutes and is called doing the work properly. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

  18. The locking stow method is not shown in that picture. What method are you using, Magnets, tabs, bands?? I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  19. certainly works on the Crystal Ball on my Eclipse Tandem :) checked it out and its easy as long as you pull up I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  20. end of the day, your the one jumping that gear. You have to feel that you can trust the gear. If the Spandex gives you that confidence then well done and good job on your part. Looking after your gear is the best prevention. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  21. not sure if this is much help to you or not but.... with the Freefly PUD option from Sunrise there used to be the possibility of it being a little loose if the canopy wa smaller than originally intended for the container. This has been solved by a special pocket for the pud in the Cordura BOC (not sure if they do this on the spandex as everyone i sell to gets the Cordura) that eliminates this problem. Even with a pud being knocked out by one means or another there would be very little chance of the PC being extracted by wind forces on the pud. I have nearly 2000 jumps on Wings containers and was so impressed by them I became a dealer. I have never seen that kind of problem from the Cordura BOC. Packing the PC can be a contributing factor I imagine however. hope you solve the reason and please let us all know when it is found. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  22. yeah, contact Jeremy on info (AT) cookiecomposites.com and ask him he will give you all the help you need and make sure you get the right one. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  23. ask me, ask me..... I have been using on e for a number of months now and they ROCK. I have never seen a lens give such quality and width as this. I run it with a PC350 which is not the widest of cameras and get great results. Money well spent I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  24. unless you use the British system of sealing rigs which puts no extra force on the handle at all
  25. or pro pack (on the nose) on the floor! I pack my tandem and my x-brace this way regularly. Way less tiring that doing it over the shoulder I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
