  1. There are some traces of good reason for most of those things. But they are all only part truths. Except #4. Javelins don't "come apart", they are sturdy and well built rigs. Around here there are several very old ones in hard use as student gear. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  2. Don't know/recall the name; a quick look at Wikipedia notes him to be a fellow crackpot. Not that Roger, this Roger. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Nelson_%28skydiver%29 Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  3. You sure? Now that's funny. I did hear that Roger was saved. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  4. No problem getting Dolphin parts at all. Most Eclipse parts can be substituted with Vector parts. The is no such resource that I am aware of. Nothing beats getting to know more about gear by asking questions. And developing good relationships with local riggers. The common big brand names hold their value better. The most important factor in older used gear is condition. And of course fit. It is difficult for a new jumper to find and assess used gear. Find a person with knowledge that you can trust. If you can. And fill out your profile with as much information as you can. That way someone here who is local to you may see who you are and help you out. It's a small friendly community here. 5. It is not for you to contact Her. Man is not meant to know Her during life. She is the one you feel in your heart. It is only your personal vanity that leads you to believe that you are created in the image of god, and your guilt that leads you to believe in his vengeance. 6. She is my personal Goddess. The Creater of all. She does not have, or need a name. Names are for the likes of mankind. You are welcome to believe in Her as well. Or not, it does not matter for She created you and loves you as much as She loves the rest of Her children. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. 7. How many folks here are going to be with Jesus? The day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night. That is the wrath of God not the tribulation but the idea is the same. I am warning those not ready. The folks I associate with are actually quite joyful. We are ready. We know Whose we are. We hear the voice of the Spirit. Most of us don't understand why you have chosen to worship such an vengeful entity. We are all very glad that your beliefs are so blatantly false. It's OK for you to believe in your evil supreme being, but I much prefer the beautiful loving Goddess that I know awaits my passing. Feel free to join me in my bliss at any time. 8. Many products from around the world are priced in USD. Oil. gold, and most commodities. As well as many manufactured goods. AADs are all made in the EU, but the USD dollar price has not dropped as the Euro has. Airtec, AAD and MarS just make more profit, they increase the European price to match the USD. The USD price should have fallen by now, but it won't because of lack of competition. Try buying an aircraft, or aircraft parts in Canada for last year's price in CAD. Good luck. Same with skydive gear. Unless it's "Made in Canada" it's price is in USD. The fact is that gear in Canada is now about 25% pricier than it was two years ago. On the other hand, there appears to be good value to be had in buying South African canopies. Although not from the more prominent NZ company. They seem to have decided to keep the exchange advantage profits for themselves. The skydive gear market is too small and the prices are mostly fixed through a tacit form of collusion. That's why the larger retailers are very coy about competing on price. They will discount, but not openly or they would be blacklisted. 10. I have not. But I'm very curious about the estimated speed at the terminal opening. Were there any factors that would indicate excessive speed? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  11. And just where is this tidbit predicted? According to the article the United States, because Farrakhan is not satisfied with BHO's agenda. The latter is my thought. Oh, so it is not a predicted indicator of the end times then? I misunderstood you. I did buy some stock today. If the end comes it won't matter, if the world goes on I'll do alright. 13. The best part is that the faster you try to read it the easier it is. If you slow down and try to make sense of it, it doesn't! Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  14. I'm saying both sides in the battle over abortion rights are honest people with good points. The whole thing with PP is just a side show. They are under attack not because anything to do with fetal tissue, but because they support choice for women. And they dare to actually provide the abortions to those who both want and are entitled to them. Let's be honest about what the fight is over. There are corrupt people everywhere. In government, in churches, and in PP. But overall PP, government and churches are mostly run by good people with decent motivations. For the record, I do support women having a choice. But I understand the reason some people oppose it. I don't understand why many of those people hate. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  15. No matter what your moral position on abortion is PP is an organization run by people dedicated to helping women. I understand that you and others consider abortion murder. But you need to understand that at least as many people, plus the United States constitution disagree with you. Despite the honesty of your feelings, PP is not run or operated by evil people. You are not wrong, but neither are they. A fetus is definitely a beginning form of human life. So is an unfertilized egg, or a sperm cell. It's only a disagreement over where to draw the line. The law in your country, and most western countries, leaves it up to the woman to decide. You can and should work on changing that fact if you are certain of yourself. But please, don't assume that the people who are on the other side of this very difficult issue are merely evil profiteers. Nothing could be further from the truth. There are many far easier ways to make money. Calling PP out for profiting on misery is almost obscene. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. 16. I bought BP just after the crisis. At the bottom $27/share. The price of oil will have to drop a long way before I lose anything. I'm thinking right now is a great time to add some XOM to my holdings. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  17. I always tell those that ask that I do accept Guinness (out of tradition) I also make a point of telling them that I did not save their life, they did that themselves. Saying the rigger on a sport rig got a "save" is like saying the mechanic who installed the brakes on your car "saved my life at that stop sign". 18. No worries about deploying a p/c. Just auto-rotate to a soft touchdown. Unless the centrifugal forces separate your limbs from your body...... Damn details. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  19. When we got Icarus tandems mains I wondered what to do. So I asked Icarus USA for advice. They told me to just pack as normal and treat the brake lines as I would d lines. So far so good. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  20. As long as it is properly stored out of the light, age does not affect the nylon in any known way. The biggest factor is normally the amount of exposure to the Sun, or any other source of UV radiation. That's why the number of jumps matters, as well as where it has been packed. Indoor packing is the best. The other major factor is dust and sand. Just go to Arizona or California and look at the color of the canopies. Age will affect the price of a canopy. But mostly for marketing reasons. People will always be willing to pay more for a 2 yo canopy than a 12 yo one. All other things being equal. Then there is the fact that Saber 2s are in greater demand than xfire2s. Although both are great canopies. Bottom line is that your Sabre would sell for about $200 to $300 less than a new one would. The Xfire would probably sell for quite a bit less than that. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  21. My wife doesn't hang out here. She's too busy at her dialysis nursing job making enough money to pay for her 2000 or so jumps. All paid cash. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  22. That's makes sense. Do you make linesets for sale, or just for your own relines? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  23. In general, and in my mind, about $1 per jump. Sabres are generally in more demand and that will affect the price. Size greatly affects demand as well. The age is a funny thing. It really should have little to no effect, but it clearly does anyway. And it's very difficult to define. In the end you have to weigh these factors and decide based on what it's worth to you. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  24. You would learn very little by doing this. It is part of the course, I suppose mostly for familiarization with the handle location. But other than that it won't tell you anything about how suited you are to being a TI. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  25. I like MEL. And I've bought stuff from him. But I'm curious. Why would you choose his lineset over a factory lineset? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
